- This is the Opryland USA theme park in Nashville, Tennessee, filmed in June 1990 by my dad using his VHS camera when he, my mom, my brother and I went there! Opryland USA fell fate to a mall in 1997, sadly. We really miss it!

I remember as a small kid being terrified of the Wabash Cannonball. My dad kept trying to talk me into it and it took a couple of summers and I finally rode it, and it engendered a deep love for rollercoasters that persists to this very day. Sure, looking back, it's a hyper-tame coaster by current "Thrill" standards but it was so simple, effective, and most importantly iconic of the park. I took this place for granted, just assuming it would always be there. I wish it still was!
Me too! I was waiting in line to get on it with my mom while my dad was filming that trip. I was 14 I think. The longer we stood there the more nervous we got until we finally chickened out and left the line. Now I regret that because it’s long gone.
I did the same thing until I was like 12 I finally rode it left the line just like you I was fine riding the rockin roller coaster but the wabash scared me
@freddiebirdwell79 I never did get to ride it and I regret it now.
I rode Eejanaika a few days ago. Best on the planet. But I still remember being afraid of Wabash cannon ball. You never forget your first ❤
I worked there for seven seasons. I am so thankful for the guests' films!
Lucky! You’re welcome, too! I’m also glad to have it. Lots of memories there!
i worked there from 88 to 93 then in 95. So as an employee, you know about the employee parties on the general jackson. The highlight of the summer.
@@billclay9489 yes! And, the wavepool parties. I worked there from '84-'91. Was a Sweeper, then Coaster Girl! Rock n roller coaster.
A large segment of my childhood and teenage years were from here. It was very sentimental to me and many others. Stupid decision to get rid of it. It brought families and friends together
Me too! We traveled from northern Michigan almost every June as I was growing up to go to Opryland. It was really sad when heard they were shutting it down to build a mall.
This was such a beautiful place,.i remember going as a kid.. and thinking i was in a magical time. I was fortunately blessed to come back as a young Man.. and i loved it even more!!! So much fun...so much good food.... And I even loved.. having to sit with My parents for the bluegrass and country music!!!!
I loved it for all the same reasons!
@@WiltonWanderlust we spent the whole day. Enjoying the rides The attractions...ingle angle inn? Bourbon st pizza
We always spent the whole day when we went too. We went many times as I was growing up, from when I was a toddler until I was 14.
2021and I still miss this place!
Me too!
This makes me so nostalgic for the past. I think back on my Daddy taking my brother and me back in the mid 1970s. He would love to listen to all the music especially the bluegrass on this video. I was 8 or 9 at the time and he would let us go ride the rides by ourselves. Can you fathom that in 2021????? Dad would be arrested today, but the atmosphere was completely safe and no one was ever afraid because there were 100s of kids just like us plus parents. It was the most beautiful place in Nashville by far and hardly a week goes by that I don't think about those Friday nights as a child, eagerly awaiting our Saturday Opryland Trips!!
Nope, it’s too dangerous for that now, but I’m 45 and I remember being a kid in a much safer world. My family and I really miss Opryland. Out of all the major amusement parks we went to, Disney World, both Busch Gardens, Cypress Gardens, Dollywood, it was always Opryland that we returned to over and over.
Thank you for sharing I worked the kiddie rides during that time. Fun memories running the rides.
I might have seen you then! 😊
I was a sweeper at the front gates.✌
I love these Opryland videos! Brings back so many memories. Thank you for sharing!
You’re welcome! I love having this footage to remind of the good times from when I was growing up! 😊
And Nashville is still sore over losing Opryland.
They’re not the only ones. We live in Michigan and we are, too.
Came across your video and watched and subscribed to your channel. Really enjoyed it!
Thank you so much! There’s a second Opryland video, too. Just search my channel for Opryland. 😊
@@WiltonWanderlust you're welcome! I will.
Damn i wish it still exists ☹️
Me too!
I was working as a sweeper in the front of that year. 👻
We probably saw you then! 😊
My mom went to this park when she was a kid
That’s really cool!
Love this! It's so cool to see all the rides!
Thanks! I just wish it still existed!
Loved chaos i rode it 10 times
Don't why got rid of chaos . There was nothing wrong with chaos.
Greetings! May I use this footage in a video I'm making involving the Wabash Cannonball's history? I will give your channel full credit.
Thank you for your interest, but I don’t let anyone take any of my video footage. Sorry.
wabash cannonball was the best. Safe but fun to ride
As I kid I was scared to go on that. I really regret it because now I can’t.
