Hi DIY G, I just can’t get enough of old tools. Just thinking of the folks who used them back in the day gives me joy. Like memories of my grandfather : ) Thanks a million for watching! Jay
@@jayaustex Yes, you made a very interesting point. I never really thought about it, but it must be true. I, too, sometimes think of relatives when I use their tools.
Hi Nicholas, That’s impressive! Being only 37 years old you have the opportunity to have an incredible collection. I wish I would have started when I was your age. Keep it up and if you don’t mind share your finds when you can. I’d love to see them. Thanks for watching and commenting! Jay
The pliers that you refer to as fence pliers look more like electricians pliers. My dad had several of those and he was an electrician for many years. Fence pliers look a lot different. They have a hammer on one side of the head and a pointed end that curves on the other side of the head. In the middle they have a cutout for grabbing Staples to pull out a fence posts.
Hi Kerry, I’ll take your word for it. Your explanation of them seems more in line with Electritian’s pliers. Thanks for the info and thanks a million for watching! Jay
Fancy egg beaters are my favorite. And oddly I have never used them to beat eggs, except accept just once to see if it would work that way. I just like fixing them up making them useful and use them as screwdrivers and for nut drivers with hex adapters and 1/4 in square drive for sockets. I also made a set of clock winding keys so I can wind clocks with them. I also thought about putting a spool on it and using it for flying kites. 😁
Hi Kerry, I would have never thought of that! Those are some ingenious ideas! You really have got me thinking about different ways to use different items. I imagine all of your creations would sell very well if we’re so inclined. Thanks a million for sharing! Jay
It's a disease, and I have it, too. Most vintage hand tools don't bring much money on re-sale, but if it's what you enjoy, re-selling helps fund the addiction.
*I like old tools too, as they are often of much better quality than new ones!*

I'm only 37 years old, and I have many tools twice as old, just saying, pipe wrenches with wooden handles are my favorite

We always referred to those as LINEMAN PLIERS. Electrician pliers would be acceptable also.
