"It all started on this day in 2015 in San Francisco. In the morning, we found this random tube at a plastic store, and on the same night, we went to the beach with Bruce Getty and Miss Lexy. We shot only for five minutes as it was super cold, but what we created was a game changer for Kim and I.
We were quite excited about this and we decided to go back to the same store to get colored tubes. And on the same night, we found out that orange color would be a nice fit.
Since then, we’ve made thousands of pictures with tubes, performed on 4 continents, built a community of 14000 people but most of all, we made a lot of new friends."
Time flies quickly! We've been doing tube light-painting for over two years now, and to celebrate this event, we organized a quick last-minute meetup at Central Park in New York City. We had no idea if 15 or 50 people would come. In the end, over a hundred people showed up and we had a blast. This video shows what happened that night. Thanks Efren ( / theefrenherrera ) for the additional footage and Louis ( / grimace_586 ) for the support with the organization. Thanks also to all of you beautiful people who joined us on that night but also on all of the tube stories.

--- About the Tube Stories
We're a dancer/photographer duo making our way using a tube, a feather, and a flashlight. Everything we do is lit by hand, one frame at a time. Light-painting for us is a lifestyle, and this is what we share with our audience. The purpose of the Tube Stories is to bring a brighter and more colorful night to whoever is going to cross our path. Our work has been presented on the BBC, CNN, MTV, VICE, TEDx and much more.

Incredible
you guys are amazing Eric & Kim
This is so inspiring and creative!!!! Love it so much!
It takes real artists to come up with something so visually stunning yet simple at the same time, but also great humility in one's work to be perfectly fine with letting others emulate its style, even encouraging them to do so. Good stuff Eric and Kim
Ahhhhh that's sweet, thanks a lot, I'm never 100% sure if this thing is real. I mean, a plastic tube...? (lol?). It looks like we're going to continue for a while :::))

Is manual focus on the subject before the shoot the only way to go? I'm doing this by myself so what i've been doing was to set my camera on 2 second delay after hitting the shutter button so I can run into place and start painting. The issue I'm running into is that my camera COULD NOT focus on anything because it was too dark and therefore I could not hit the shutter button to get the whole process going.
Can I do this type of photography with my canon1300d with 50mm 1.8f stm lens?
what kinda flash light are you using??
which type or setting you are using in dark area ?

Dear Eric, great technique! Inspired as others. Got 2 torches, tubes of all the possible colors, ready for experimenting. Thank you so much for your knowledge sharing! I'm completely puzzled, how this is done: ruclips.net/video/GSyEx4b4cyQ/видео.htmlm21s O_o... How do you make this animated trail of one movement of tube keeping exposed movements of the light? Is this multiple exposure? Several cameras? Serial shooting? Thank you so much in advance!
