I asked about the Sub Principle because I was collecting information about organs with 32’ stops on manual, and it was listed as a stop of the Great division in the source I read. It seems many large organs have 16’ diapasons in the manual but very few have a 32’.
Chris, I enjoy these wonderful tours you do. Many years ago I go to tour the right and left main chambers. I can only dream of having the privilege of visiting the echo and fanfare chambers.
Never seen a video of where all the pedal 64' 32' and the 16' reeds are selected to play at once just to hear what that would sound like both outside and inside the chambers.
The Ceiling Rank Is Very Sad To See Them So Dead looking. I Can't Imagine How One Would Even Attempt To Remove Those Ranks In The Ceiling. Beautiful Wood When There Are All Cleaned Up,
Ok, now how about a tour of the most unusual and/or largest scaled pipes. For most unusual the vox Baryton, gamba tubas, etc. come to mind. As for the largest scaled pipes I thing the major flute or the Pileata Magna would be on that list.
Other than the bass drum, what other instruments are in the “toy chest”. I’d love to see a video of the non-pipe instruments, a tour of the workshop, and any pics/vids on the restoration process of the Chickering piano. Thanks for all your time and work on making these videos!
Been waiting for a video! Just watched it, sad that we couldnt see the trombone but whatever Could you do a follow up where you show the top of the right pedal and the sounds of the playing 32's? Also just wanted to say how much your commentary and camera work have improved
What, you mean my camera work and commentary sucked before!?!!? Well yes they did actually! This time specifically I used the fluid head tripod for smooth pans and tilts. The top of the right pedal is hella difficult to get to, but as far as the sounds go...
Thank you for another great tour! As a musician, I would love to hear a demonstration of these pipes as you go through the ranks. Is that possible at all? If you have a electronic controller, can you bring an iPad along to play the notes? Although you describe it well, it's difficult to get a sense of the Fogatto without hearing it.
Normally you can use an iPad to control the organ but the Opus II system had just been updated and the communication protocol hadn't been re-established.

You'd have to be very careful. Play it loud enough and you'd go deaf!!!

So question since most tibias are stopped is the 32’ tibia just a stopped 16’ or is a straight 32’ ?
It's a stopped 16' that speaks 32' pitch like most tibias.

How do you all keep the termites away?
They just aren't a problem, I guess because the organ chambers are so high off the ground and the building has virtually no wood in its construction.
