Seems like a lot of trouble for no good reason. Sync your phone to the car, answer, call, and talk hands free using the buttons on the steering wheel, and lay your phone on the charging pad. Unless you’re driving a base model, you have built in navigation. But even if you don’t, you can still sync the phone up and Bluetooth Google maps to the car’s screen. Another negative is that you can’t use that vent. Every vent mounted car holder I’ve seen tells you not to blow hot or cold air on your phone continuously. They may just say that for legal reasons, so that when your phone dies, you can’t complain that they didn’t tell you that continuous hot or cold air could be detrimental to your phone. Even if every assumption I’ve made is incorrect, and the base model has no phone sync, there’s still a large variety of phone holders that don’t require you to disassemble the dash or glue something to the back of your phone. In my Escape base model, I’m currently using a phone holder, plastic, that clamps to the top of the instrument cluster, directly in your line of sight. It’s never failed to hold the phone. The phone’s not used for calls, but for using Google navigation. Base Escape has no navigation, the screen is tiny. All calls are synced, controlled by the buttons on the steering wheel. When the Bronco Sport Outer Banks I ordered arrives, the clamp gets trashed.

John, Our mount can be used to mount many different things, not just phones. Many people like to mount the phone in site regardless of vehicle technology. Sometimes the phones applications work better than the ones included with the vehicle too. Other people use the magnet to hold off-road navigation devices, cb radio handsets, plow controllers etc.

I dont drive a base model. I dont have Navigation (waste of money) Bluetooth works for audio but does not display maps to the screen. No trim level on a bronco sport is capable of this. The car has sync 3 and its not possible without 3rd party work around. The vent works just fine with the phone there. Don't be silly.
Also there are plenty of phone holders that will work without this amount of "work". 3 bolts is a lot I know. But people who are actually using this for a semi-capable off road vehicle they want more than some tape. Relax man. If its not for you or to complicated then move along. No point in looking foolish in some comment section

I guess I'm one of the few that like the security of the mount solution to the car. If you ever ditch the magnet and go with something similar to a ram mount I would be sold.

I got one of these that mounts the phone on the left side. The figment is off enough that my radio will not snap back in place because the edge doesn’t fit on the outside of the corner of the radio. Is this a common issue?

Hi Patrick, It is not an issue. It is possible that the Direct Fit bracket could have been bent in shipping. Please contact us through our site with some pictures so we can get you fixed up.

Is that magsafe compatible? Or does it only work with the provided steel pad?

The standard magnetic head is not MagSafe and requires the steel pads to work. We do, however, have MagSafe head solutions that can be kitted with the Direct Fit mount if you head over to our site.

Way, waaaaay too much work to mount a simple magnetic phone holder. Lots of them out there that mount with 3M tape in about 30 seconds.

Thank you for your opinion. We offer a few different head options and this is a great way to get a factory look and fit. Most of the sticky or suction mounts are not stable or sustainable. Ours just plain work.
