I followed this video exactly for my VW Jetta Sportwagen 2009. It worked perfectly, follow all instructions and you'll be fine, rad support cost $109 and the replacement was my own time. VW Shops charge 455 for the rad support and then another $1,000 in labour to put it in....that's easy math, thanks again for posting these videos, you guys ROCK!!
Wher did you get the radiator support for $109? Thanks
@@kv3883 online parts Ontario Canada just searched it out on Google with year and part number
Thanks you guys I was able to change my radiator and save money cheers
How was it putting it all back together?
Kris Drive it would have been tough without your instructions god bless you!
Priceless video. Made a daunting job a breeze. Thanks guys.
Great Video! Thank you for making a very clear and easy to follow guide.
Very thorough instructions for removal, thank you!! I'm saving this to watch again when I get a new radiator support and a 16mm socket lol
Holy shit this isnt as hard as I expected. Thanks for the detailed video! It has given me the confidence to do it myself and save the $1000 in labor theyre asking for. Im excited! I already got it pulled out of the junk yard
Great video, really helped me a lot. Had to drill out some of the screws holding on the bumper though as they were rusted and rounded. Dont forget to support the Radiator and Condensor though after you have taken everything off as it is just hanging there held on with flimsy pipes.
What did you use to support them?
@@wildfire389 I used a spare jack and supported it from the middle.
Thanks, guys, for the great videos!!! This one and the fender video were invaluable to me in completing a front-end repair on my 2009 Jetta TDI.
Would you say that would be the same step for my vw JETA TDI 2012
Hold my vodka I gotta fix my car
Great video i bought a rabbit 2008 crashed and im fixing it, this video is going to be so usefully
I did this procedure 2 years ago to replace my radiator. This week, my radiator and fan assembly have started moving freely in the engine bay, causing the fan to collide with the engine, making a ton of nasty noise until I push the whole radiator/assembly back into position. Any idea why this is happening, and what I can focus on before tearing it apart?
Verry Nice Mate!!!! (Proceed With Caution)
perfect 👌 exactly what what I was looking for great job guys please keep the videos coming
If you have a turbo/TDI you'll have a couple of intercooler pipes to remove underneath too. Always worth checking before you start if both of your rad fans work. If not it's much easier to remove and fix them while the front of the car is apart.
I recently had a turbo failed on me. Dumped a lot of oil into the intercooler. After I have followed the directions in this video, will I be able to easily remove just the intercooler so I can clean it?
I changed the rad support on my mk V but there were no airbag sensors like in the video lol(it's the basic bumper without the chrome and it's 1.6 mpi if that has something to do with it). Also there some screws left now.. lol
Do you have a video for 2013 vw beetle 2.5L radiator support installation.?
good night friend, i'm doing preventive maintenance on the cooling system of my jetta 2.5, would you know if there is a drain in the engine block to drain the water?
New subscriber. Thanks friends.
Will the radiator housing from a 2.5 Jetta fit in a 2.5 Rabbit? It's SO much cheaper to buy the Jetta part number housing.
All that disassembly is not required. Can be done without taking headlights, bumper or any other ancillaries.
How long from start to finish to complete this?
Way too much work. All you have to do is unhook the electrical connectors for the marker lights, AC high pressure switch, airbag crash sensors, head lights, and whatever else has a connector on the lock carrier. You leave the headlights and everything in the unit as one piece. Once you have the AC lines disconnected from the condenser, the coolant hoses removed from the radiator and the charge air cooler hoses disconnected from the intercooler you only remove the 8 16mm head bolts and the 4 T30 bolts up top rearward of the headlights and remove the entire thing in one piece. It takes two people but is way faster than disassembling the entire lock carrier like this.
Why u remove that, to replace any of the radiadores?
Can I put a 2007 Jetta core support on a 2007 rabbit?
Didnt realize how much "stuff" was connected to this single part.. And how buried it was!!!
Welcome to Germans finest engineers. A monkey at a zoo could build a better car.
which makita impact driver is that?
found it cheers
es un trabajo duro cambiar esa piesa
what a piece of shit car, im going to hate working on this
im going to be doing this to mine since its broken in half. Thank you guys for showing this! Yours looks fine and you still did this! Awesome of you guys! Defiantly liked and sub'd!
Fantastic video!. I'm doing this right now and smiling big at, as you say, "the ridiculous amount of money" I'm saving. Thanks from Minnesota.
Just wanted to stop by and say thanks for making this video. Helped me with replacing my radiator and fans in my 09 rabbit.
Hey Guys- Great Vid. Question....For a 2007 Eos 2.0T...can i follow these directions? Not alot of folks working on the Eos online!!
Great vid but it would've been nice to see the radiator removed as well....
Yes! Thanks so much guys. Great video on the details on this. I am sure I will save some money!
I can't believe that Germans did a shitty engineering like this. You need to dismantle half of the car in order to replace a stupid radiator.
Amazing video! Thanks for showing the screws and where they were originally! Helps sorting them out after accidentally mixed up!
trying this tonight hopefully it saves me £150 -£250 which I have bin quoted
Great video! Was apprehensive about changing my front panel - but you guys made it easy! Thanks for your time and effort. Shine on.
Mine doesn't have airbag sensors? How's that possible?
Wanted to say thanks a lot to you guys for making this video helped me out so much
wait! they did not empty the coolant? coolant is still in radiator and just replaced the radiator support? i gott a prep and do mine asap ! thank you !
fuckin toyota why do they weld their radiator support...now i need to bring my car to the shop because i dont know to weld
Doing this task tomr, I’ll update soon how it went
How it go
Excellent step by step procedure, this helps tremendously! I know the steps are the same, but do you know if the radiator support is the same for the Jetta and the Golf (Rabbit)?? The part numbers are the same but the last letter is different. 1K0.805.588G for Jetta and 1K0.805.588H for Golf (Rabbit). I see later versions of each have same basic part number but different last letter as well.
I watched this video as I needed to change my mk5 Golf radiator (only). After doing the job at the weekend I can confirm you do not need to do most of the steps in this video if you just need to change your car radiator.
“That’s how simple it is “ !!!! What ?!??? Nothing simple about this , you’ll be spending at least 5 hours start to finish if everything goes without any problem which of course there are always some problem that always comes up
Thank you so much !!! for being one of the few videos on this repair my car looks fantastic now that I’ve been able to repair this lousy broken radiator mount
Has anyone been able to get those bastard snapped t30 screws out. Got 2 snapped on the intercooler and 1 on the radiator.
HELLLLLPPPP MEEEE
Simple your fun!
How about a video on putting it back in? Would be really helpful as there's a few things to switch over like the hood latch, etc.
This is awesome, very clear
I hope my 03' Jetta is similar, I will be trying this on my own
Any idea where to get the torque specs for when replacing the radiator support?
If not this video, I wouldnt be outside freezing my ass off working on this
Great info thanks guys :-)
How does the radiator get removed from the front clip
Thanks guys! You sawed me a 100 euros god bless you
Need to put new bumper on new head lights and new smash panel
I love this guy but damn clear your throat!
Thank you great video
This is so much harder than a mk4 lol
Mad scientist?
Track pants.
Of course...
Great video well detail
i love the accents LOL could listen to it all day
Nicely done, this was what I was looking for. Feel sorry for the mech having to re attach the torx bit to the impact wrench just about every time he used it. VERY HELPFUL VIDEO.
So the radiator, fans, and a/c condenser will just hang there with the core support removed?
Woody Ridenour Yes so you need to hold on to the radiator etc when you remove the support. You should then support the weight of the radiator etc with a jack and block of wood or similar so you don't damage the breakable AC pipes while you change the radiator.
Dominic Sleightholme would you be able to change the radiator at this time as well. Came across your video while searching how to change a leaking radiator.
Nice work 💯
Does this support panel differ from automatic and Manuel model?
