I found your channel from the email announcing the prize judges! I've read the full long list for the past two years for the US & Canada Prize, and it's the best part of my reading year. I adored Pollak's Arm from New Vessel Press, shortlisted 2 years ago. So The Propagandist is on my list of books to check out for sure!

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by! Always great to connect with a fellow indie press lover. I'm getting ready to start into this year's prize reading today. All best!

Though the wealthy literati are even in their subversion supporting plutocratic ends.
It has to be said; even those less than kind, whose humble humanity makes them in their pearly towers blind to suffering on an individual level.
The folk who craft the tools of Mammon.
They have purpose, bring an understanding of the abstruse to those who may otherwise have left history and cultures stride behind them, and so are more vital to civilisation than ever.
    Commendable.

What a fabulous surprise! You're a dream judge for this kind of event, for certain.
I'd encourage y'all to look into A Muzzle for Witches by the late Dubravka Ugresic, and translated by Ellen Ellias-Bursac, out via Open Letter; The Trial of Anna Thalberg by Eduardo Sangarcía, translated by Elizabeth Bryer, out via Restless Books; Prairie, Dresses, Art, Other by Danielle Dutton, out via Coffee House Press...all going to be included in my blog's annual #Booksgiving Holiday reading recs, along with The Propagandist.

What a lovely initiative. I've got nothing to add to the titles mentioned in this comment section as I haven't read a recent book for a while, but it sounds like soon enough I will. Have fun!

Reading for the ROC should be a good experience this year. I am curious what you will get from New Directions since they are having a great publishing year, with more to come including the 2nd book this year from Yoko Tawada, a new Thuăn, a new Laszlo Krasznahorkai, and the new two volume title by Solvej Balle. I hope they meet the criteria for a small press still.
I also like Understory by Saneh Sangsuk and I'll second the previously mentioned Prarie, Dresses, Art, Other by Danielle Dutton. Enjoy your reading and looking forward to the longlist.

It must be nice to live in a country where the weather can cause your books to disintegrate. Not a problem I will ever face in Dublin.

Where can I find the podcast on Miss Macintosh, My Darling? I’m reading it now and I’d love to listen to someone talk about it
