To learn how to shave yourself. For example, my father never teached me how, so I had to learn from a barber and even then, there's a lot of techniques worth watching.
I've recently decided to grow a beard for the first time and went with the Van Dyke as I find the look of them to be classy and more refined. Given that it's my first beard, I have no clue how to properly trim it so videos such as this are very helpful, thank you. Although that technically *isnt* a Van Dyke in the video (for a Van Dyke, the moustache and beard *must* be *seperated* ) the trimming technique used is super helpful.
Looks well good! at the age of 52 (God help us) I'm giving a beard a go for the first time in my life. It's coming along nicely and I'm quite impressed at the change tbh. It was a good inspiration to find this video on first try and see something I'm aiming for. Many thanks!
Have fun with the new look. I have been experimenting with my beard since I was 16 years old and after 11 years I'm confortable with my styles and grow rates lol.
@Greg Tastad 40 years old. I did mine before watching this. Thankfully I kinda did the same thing. So this was a good video to watch and confirm. I'm always unsure how far down to let my beard line grow under my jaw..It never seems right either on the jaw line or just below it..
@@McDanieI do you have like a double chin?i am asking because i have a meaty chin and also a poor jaw and i have the same problem , but i came to a middle ground and i am sticking to it for now.
I always thought the pointy beard looks cool and refined as hell. Plus as someone with a kinda-'oval'ish/round-but-not-really-round face shape with a weaker jawline, the van dyke creates the illusion of a more triangular face. Definitely need to try it out.
H OC Na bro if the hair on your chin is too long, you end up looking like Mr Tumnus I’ve got the roundest head in the world 😂 no chance of me going pointy tho... not worth it
@The Arse Hahah lmao. But I'm not talking about comic book mega villian levels of long lol. I'm talking a short, neatly trimmed point. Less Ghengis Khan and more like a 19th century European aristocrat or intellectual lol.
H OC A full heavy stubble combined with a Van Dyke will give your face the appearance of being elongated without actually doing it. Plus it’s literally the coolest beard going. The idea is to look like you’re not *trying* to change your face shape. Keep on top of your stubble’s jawline (since your actual jawline is basically non-existent like mine😂) and rock the Van Dyke roughly 2-3x as long but keep the chin neatly combed and not into a point. It hits that sweetspot of both cool/scruffy, and smart/well-groomed.
Wonderful video! Although I would have found some explanation regarding trim combs and reasons for the method. This is the style I am trying for, but with a full moustache covering the upper lip. Thank you!
Much preferred the original but that’s just me. Maybe would have just shaved it down just a little bit to take a bit of the ‘wild’ out of it, but that’s all. I feel you went a little too far but that’s just my opinion and my taste in beards. Your after definitely suits you though and isn’t ‘bad’ by any means.
great vid bro ..i have a goatee but my beard will only grow to half of my cheeks then stop .. my friend says just to let it grow you may look rough but being patient it will eventually get there.. i’m only 19 what should i do??
Thanks man! Yeah just let it grow out first, i'd say about 2 months, don't trim it, don't shape it. Then you could see your beard and go from there. Cheers
Dude, you and I have damn near identical facial hair. This is crazy! Like the way it waves, the color pattern, even the soul patch area. Like wtf? Long lost 2nd cousin or something.
who needs a barber shop when you can do it like a pro good shaving skills I need to work on my own skill for real and I have some problems with my own facial hair I want to do a full goatee but my mustache part won't grow in the middle so I have to shave the mustache part off and keep the chin facial hair and I can't grow a full beard either so I just have a bad experience with facial hair growth maybe one I will get a better goatee on day I hope but I am not given up so miracles do happen and wishing don't but anyways fantastic job keep up on your Style and your videos god bless you and your family stay safe
Not sure if it's a technique, i just found that's a great way for me to trim the hair. That way it keeps the look natural and less of a chance for me cutting too much off.
I think a bigger, mightier beard would suit your face a little better. Much like you had it at 0:50...just tidy it up a bit and shave the contours, and you would look more masculine. But its preference and personality, your choice
why am i watching a guy on youtube shave...what a time to be alive
😂😂😂😂😂😂
bad thing is: i'm doing the same xd

Im certainly not going to learn how to shave my beard using Wikipedia

Before is better. I am super jealous of your under lip coverage as well.
That’s six and a half months worth of growing it in
No after! is way BETTER

Exactly the style I want to rock. Awesome job!
I envy the coverage and density you have my friend
Great looking beard man! The color transition from mustache to beard is awesome. Keep posting vids!
wow you pulled it off, I was anxious during the trimming. But the end result is really clean, well done.
Settle down, lol
Just found this. You are good with that trimmer! Nice work! Thanks for video.
Great video! Straight to the point. No non-sense talk about anything! Cool style beard.

Anyone else screwed up and totally butcher it And its that bad you've had to shave it all off and grow again lol
I'm good at that!
Wait... let me get my glass of wine!
Excellent! Cheers!🍷🧔🏼🤩
Lol you just taught me how to properly use my razor!!!!
Sweet bro ty
Great job! I hope the ladies are showing all the appreciation that nice work deserves!
Great video for trimming my goatee myself. Where can I find the music with the sampled Charlie Parker????

I'm starting mine now from scratch my Beard grows very fast the G tee first nice and thick thin let the sides grow
Very nice beard! Can I ask how long it took to grow to the original length?

Thank you for your video.
Didn't know how to do it and did it with your help. 👍
What number trimmer guard are you using???
Pair that goatee with a big blonde handlebar mustache and you are GOLDEN!
i might try that
What length are you using for trimming the sides and your mustache? Thanks for your video
Incredible
I kinda want one after seeing the Lev Mishkin in "Idiot" by Pyryev (Dostoevsky adaptation). It's free on RUclips and has English subtitles
What clippers and what guard to shape the point? All downward strokes
I used Wahl clippers with number 3 guard to thin the chin out. Cheers
Not bad brotha. Personally I like my sides a little longer. But mainly because I have blonde hair like yours and it’s harder to see the shorter it is.
i like this vídeo, very simple and goog idea
Looking good , what seizes did use ? Thank you btw
Great job
Yo what shaver is that homie
Amazing tunes
Excelente saludos desde Argentina!!
How is someone suppose to follow this? Fast motion no mention on what guards etc,
Very good! 🙂
I like your hair style man .. what they call this hair cut so to tell my buddy to shave it the same this new year Eve .thanks in advance .
Comb over with a skin fade. Cheers
Parece un emperador romano.!👍👏
Good job bro!
Man how long did it take you to grow it before the trim?
Three months to full beard, then trim the sides, and another two months to get that
Hey man can you tell me guard you used on each section?
Number 3 on all sides, 0 on moustache to even it out
Did you succeed ! I coundt when I bring it down on no 3 that takes off the whole chin hair to match with 3 on cheeks

How did you get your full coverage in your chin area?
You have a thick ass beard dawg. Makes it a lot easier to style....
You should keep the sides longer
Super Video Daumen hoch 👍

Guard #3 (10mm)

I would prefer a video on how to grow a beard like the one at the beginning of the video
All you need is patience.
Nice !
Trim top down on the stash....when using guard...comes out better..trust me....
Im growing my beard so i can have this style I was wondering why you started trimming downwards (with the grain of the hair).. is that a technique?
