Thank you very much for introducing me to the amazing modified bassman and repairing it. Thirty years ago, I had a '61 blonde bassman when I was in college. However, even after graduation, I left it in the music club room, and after a while, the building was rebuilt and I lost it somewhere. It's very regrettable.
I've restored and modified numerous Fender Amps over the past 35 years. These early 60's Small chassis heads are my favorites. The 6g6 and 6g7 bandmaster top of the list.
Colleen i love the way you work thru problems with amps. This one will be unique and you preserved its story well and gave it your own personal touch by making things solid and dependable again. Hugs for Hank ❤️❤️
Just found your channel! Started repairing amps! Thanks! Was house Is electrician for years retired now! Is just having fun jammin and fixing! God bless!
The red paint you mentioned at 10:38 is surely a Red Enamel Insulating Paint from Glyptal (formerly a division of GE, but now its own company). It's commonly used on motor parts and other electrical equipment.
The original tube rectified 6G6 is one of the best amps I’ve ever owned. Of the dozens I’ve sold over the years, it’s the one I truly miss. Mine was pristine, with the original ToneRing cabinet. I currently have an early ’64 “Tuxedo “ 6G6-B. As great as it is, I prefer the tonal qualities of the original.
Re Solder and De Ox helped. Mathew Sweet, himself or whomever always had great tones. I love Matt's 'Daddy Didn't Care' amp sizzle..You know, the tune in one of the Austin Powers movie... I watch just to hear the guitar amp sizzle.
As always, I most definitely enjoy watching you work. Thank you for showing us your "Colleen Custom Pin Tightening Tool" as well as showing it in action. I've been a Fender Amp fan since 1962 as well as a Bassman fan. Thank you for giving us an in-depth look at this modified Bassman. Another great video, Colleen. Please keep them coming!!
Colleen I love watching your channel!!❤ So much so that between you and uncle Doug I think I’m going to dive into my first 5E3 build. I’ve been playing and modifying guitars for 50 years so do you think that’s a good first project? Thanks for your content!!
I am terrified to open up a tube amp for fear of electrocution!! how cool is it that she can rip the thing appart, diagnose issues and bring it back to life!
I saw Mathew Sweet play back in the 90's. I'm trying to remember who else was playing on the gig. Maybe I saw Pete there. I remember it sounded crunchy.
It seems from the description likde a John Mcintyre bluesmaker overhaul. It was originally described in a guitar player magazine in the 90s as the ultimate marshall type mod for the then cheap and unwanted bassman heads.
The Aims is pretty rare too. I have a Aims 100 watt pa head that was heavily modified to a dual channel Marshall plexi/Soldano. The amp sounds amazing.
Big thing Ken Fischer from Train Wreck use to do was 34’s in a Bassman. Just felt and sounded so frigging good after! Sometimes there can be an issue because a 34 pulls a tad more current than a 6L6. .9 on a 6L6 and anywhere’s of 1.2 to 1.4 on an EL34 depending on brand. I still like 1K’s on the screen grids, no matter what.
girl you better contact Nichicon and try to buy some muse BP caps if you can. real talk. the highest voltage they'll send you. see what they say. no really try it. Tell them you wanna buy BP Muse caps in 2026 see what they say.
woah girl resolder all the connections? girlio there's one or two bad ones dont melt it all down just cause one might be bad you'll find the bad one. another trick is watch the amp in the dark and look for static electricity.
Someone stole my 50 w 70's bassman. It was flipped ups8de down had the cloth changed to a silvertone RP tweed cloth the front and rear name plates were gone and it had mxr knobs. Westinghouse 6l6 wgc's( new) Only had about 3 hours on it since it was teched and retubed

Love the history, really adds depth to videos and soul to equipment, thinking where it's been, what it's done and also where it's headed. 👍

Pete was one of the greats. Great vid as usual.
I love that guitar sound!!!! So happy you were able to work on that amp!
Just found your channel! Started repairing amps! Thanks! Was house Is electrician for years retired now! Is just having fun jammin and fixing! God bless!
Always the best wishes for you, Hank, and your loved ones. You’d fit right in with all the old Kzoo folks at ProCo, Heritage & Gibson.
That has an awesome tonal quality.
Those mods are sick
Good Work on a cool modded Fender
Hooray! New video, thank you Colleen!
Amoeba Music live show footage. Mathew Sweet playing your local awesome vinyl store... sweet. Still in biz, hat's off to Joe G!
Always amazed at your skill. Tracing all those mods must have been a blast. Can't wait for the next video.
Awesome video!!! Please tell Hank hi.🐶🐾 Very cool Bassman head.
That was cool 😎 thanks…
Took a break from recapping a tube receiver and stumbled upon your channel. Love the vids! Keep them coming!
Great video!
I wanted to get into amp building, but that is a whole science of it's own.
Love your channel 👍
Patient electronic works and nice guitar playing. Love your video and thanks for sharing!
Yep, you're doing very valuable work. Save the vintage!!

Beautiful work as always, and also (as always too) such a cool old amp. Thanks for sharing it all, and for playing a bit for us.
Awesome stuff, Colleen. You deserve a peerage/ title of honor.
Something like _HM Regina, Ampstress Colleen of the Angels?_
I kinda like it.
Great video.
Great video, great work! I enjoyed very much...
Hey "Tone Lady". Cool amp and cool channel.
Great videos and always enjoy the unique amp education. Have also enjoyed observing your evolution of becoming a true Angeleno!

Fazio!! It's been a while. I'm glad you popped up in my feed again
Thanks for sharing a fabulous amplifier.🎵🎶🎸🇬🇧
OMG I used to own the same model AIMS amplifier. It was a beast to load in but it sounded great.
I love the idea of an EL34 Bassman 💕
Make a replica of it!
Loving that AIMS amp in the background I used to own that same exact model and in fact once toured the manufacturing facility in Phoenix Arizona.
Colleen I love watching your channel!!❤

You go fazio!
Hmm, you've inspired me to get going on repairing my bassman!
Badass amp.👍
The mods done to this amp are incredibly appealing to me. I’d buy a clone in a heartbeat

I’d love to see a schematic of that amp as it is.
Muito bom 👍
Sounds like the Rivera mods.
Love the tone! Nice playing though.
Very nice. Which model Fender Tweed (I think it was a Tweed) had the THREE 12AX7 Tremolo/Vibrato circuit? Almost sounded like a Uni~Vibe.
I know this is that same girl from the magazine man hard life man You rock !
hard life man girl chose the thicket
girl picked a hard life bro go ahead man how all those ideas fit inside your head man its impossible

Hey Colleen! Great channel! Are you by any chance watching the Johan Segeborn (vintage amp and amp tone) channel?
👍
Caldwell would go into convulsions looking at that chassis.😂
Mmmmm, crunchy!

As someone who knows almost nothing about amps how does moving the resisters help
How do I get ahold of you for amp repair and service.

Girlfriend 🎸🔈🔉🔊🤘🏽😝🤘🏽
One of the first amps i used was an Aims amp . Loud but lacking true tone . Metalic sounding not metal sounding lol
When you gonna do more transparent try-ons? Like that one thumbnail that one time? Hawt.
your replacing 1/2 watt resistors with 1/4 watt resistors not good
Don’t worry, they are 1/2 watt resistors lol
ah,when we could get away with cranking a bassman.and not be told to turn down.
Girlfriend !
what zodiac sign are you?
I'm gonna say Libra.👍
That is, over the interweb, and sound like a phone mic, the worst sounding Bassanm I've ever heard!
Слава Україні🇺🇦💪
what amp ????
