This was the first movie I went to with my girlfriend. She was mostly going to be with me, but was quite surprised to enjoy it, especially the music. That girlfriend is now my late wife.
I watched the anime Macross Frontier not long after she passed in 2011. I felt myself relating to the ballad "Diamond Crevasse", a song lamenting the death of a woman's lover. I probably shed more tears to that song that song than all other music in my life combined.
Years later I discovered that the songs for both Cowboy Bebop and Macross Frontier were written by Yoko Kanno. It's almost as if her music bookends my relationship with my wife.
As for the movie itself: It's late 2017, my senior year of high school, and I watched the whole show during idle hours. At some point, I was in awe of the last 20 minutes of the film. It also recontextualizes the end of the show − Spike mirrors much of Vincent's worst behavior as if his fate is inescapable
"I love the kind of woman that will actually just kill me" I had to mention it LOL
But, seriously. Steve Blum's Spike has so much sassiness in this movie, pure gold

The music in this movie slaps
First episode I ever seen was the little boy who was an old ass adult. It was trippy an really dark. Think I was like 12 maybe 13. Watchin on tsunami. Not a goat to me but definitely holds a place in my heart.

One of my favorite films ever, it was my introduction to the series. I watched it back in 2003 (holy fuck time does fly).
I think Vincent Volaju is actually a more interesting villain than Vicious.

@@joek600 Although I've never cared for his voice, and the original "Knocking on Heaven's Door" came out before my time (actually the year before I was born), Bob Dylan is one of the most respected and influential singer/song writers of all time.
Guns N' Roses may be where many Cowboy Bebop fans first heard the song, but the creators of Cowboy Bebop and its music (Watanabe, Kanno, etc.) were almost certainly referencing the original.
@@ckmishn3664 My favorite song by Bob Dylan is the song used in the film "Wonder Boys" (a great, darkly comedic and dramatic fil m in its own right. Michael Douglas and Tobey Maguire are great here and play off each other's personalities and quirks and mannerisms. Both are great actors even if Maguire has done some sus things). It's called Things Have Changed. It's a great song that is melancholy but you can also groove and dance to it.
Beebop's moviw came out when I was in college and was the 1st movie I ever pre-ordered from Game stop. One thought occurred was wouldn't it be seriously Badass if Vincent ever fought Vicious! Just to see how they'd fight and striking one another!

A movie I need to revisit and had planned to do so when I started re-watching Bebop after a New Year's marathon on Toonami/to off-set watching the live-action version further.

This movie is actually awesome though and makes a great addition to Cowboy Bebop as a whole.
I have a confession....I've never seen Cowboy Bebop. And I don't know how. It was in the nightly lineup that got me into anime/manga. So that's my bad.

As a Jet fan, i was a little disappointed at his lack of involvement. Of course I love Spike as a character, but I greatly dislike stories that have one character do everything. If Jet came up with the plan at the end, i think i wouldve appreciated the movie as a whole more. But, Spike coming up with the plan didnt feel natural. Same reason I dislike the episode, "Livin in the Fridge". I felt like Jet gambling against Fey was totally against his character, but they did it anyway for laughs. Everyone else felt a little off as well in that episode
That was actually the first episode I ever saw so I have a soft spot for it. I feel you though. Black Dog serenade is some peak Jet
I mean Vincent is essentially “dark spike” so it makes sense that spike would be his main opponent
Ryan, did you also watch the parody voice actor comedy clip by anime and video game Italian-American voice actor Gianni Matragrano/Matragano of that same Spike clip of him being kicked and hurt by Elektra in the film, but you don't see that only Spike's face with Gianni's voice? I think the action in the film and the female protagonist Electra/Elektra is great. The dub for COWBOW BEBOP the Film is good and Jennifer Hale as the female protagonist and her interactions with Spike/Steve Blum are great. They have a kind of chemistry and flirty or playful style with each other. It's great. Big impacts of being hurt by guns and swift and smooth in animation.
Is Spike imagining Vincent or is Vincent imagining Spike being there? Did this film's events really happen when the series has Spike die at the end of the OG series? Regardless, Watanabe or Bones or Sunrise, whatever studio it was.
Good themes. Faye Valentine (Wendee Lee) is great in here and Faye is as hot or seductive as ever.
Also, I like to think of this film as either not taking place in reality and in Spike's head or when he's dreaming and sleeping in between episodes or off-screen. Vincent is a great villain and more imposing than Vicious. I agree with that sentiment. Also, why couldn't we see Faye Valentine's t!ts or her washing her body and showering and no clothes, and uncensored? What a cop-out, Watanabe!

100% agree. I love cowboy bebop. It was the first Anime series i got into and i own the box set and movie and is still one of my top animes to recommend to people
