I’m guessing in 2014 that those prices may have been fair. But since a new TV goes for 189.00 on Amazon…. Then the days of scrapping TV’s are history. But I appreciate your naming the components. You were informative there.
Thank you so very much for such an informative video. My friend and I are just starting out scrapping and you really helped us to understand whats what and what to do with them. Best of Luck in all your future efforts!
Thank you for a very informative video. It's nice to know that, there is still money to be made in these modern electronics. One just, has to go about it in a different way. I scrapped a lot of old electronics, back in the 60's, as a kid. Then, it was big transformers, potentiometers with solid brass shafts, aluminum I.F. cans, etc. Now, it's "techie". LOL.
Nice!!! I always try to find the the best price other than scrap before junk something. It does take a little time listing it but, its clearly worth it. Keep us updated on the listings, and what yours sells for.
Made my day with this fella , BIGGUP !!! Subbed. I'm wondering about any old PCB from misc devices but I'll peruse your channel. Literal food for thought , Respect !
also some of the individual components that could be unsoldered from the boards, not necessarily just on a flat screen, can be reused. HV caps/xistors, voltage multiplier modules and heat sinks are relatively more valuable and easy to remove with the right tools(soldering iron and solder remover); a 6pin reed-relay chip is ~$5 new from digikey. i often reuse the electronic components from failed appliances, but i happen to be an electronics nerd so i'm not sure how easy it would be to sell
IF the flat panel has a divorced power supply, (a laptop type power supply NOT inside the flat panel), don't scrap the flat panel, try another power supply. I met a guy a couple of years ago who made a living getting divorced power supply monitors from Goodwill, etc. He finds enough monitors which work, when plugged into a working power supply, to make a living selling them.
I purchased a tv new, it would turn on but the only way I knew it was on was I could see the power light. No sound at all. If I part it out how do I know what is wrong with it. So I don't sell a broken part.

You can go through this whole process and only make $20 plus a lot of stress dealing with eBay and rude people... Not every TV you get $200 or more out of. You have to create an eBay account, a PayPal account, you have to take photos of everything, list them, then wait on it to sell, then BUY shipping supplies, ship them out, then you have to PAY eBay FEES, you have to PAY PayPal FEES, then wait a week or so on your money to be released..... A bunch of stress and when it's all said and done, your not getting no where near $200 some parts only sell for $5 then you have eBay taking their listing fee, the selling fee, and the shipping fee and on top of that you have PayPal taking their fee all from that $5... Just Saying....
All true. Though if you deal in volume, it pays to make an ebay "store". It's really just a subscription with reduced selling fees. Ends up about 10% fess from ebay and paypal together. I've sold a lot on ebay. I've scavenged for most of my shipping material. Mostly I've only paid for bubble wrap and tape. Even though, I've sent out a couple of what I call "Frankenstein" boxes for irregularly shaped items. They were both accepted but I probably didn't get positive feedback from either of them. In the end, where else can you sell to get that size of customer base. It's like having a forced 10% advertising budget. Actually not that bad.
It sounds like a great idea, I'm just saying not every tv brings in $200. There are some TV's you get that only bring in $30 if your lucky and that's not including the fees being taken from you. I wouldn't make it my only income unless you get a lot of pallets or something... And for the record I don't party, lol....
David Jones all the fees are about 5% out of the total maybe a little less. And the buyers pay for the shipping... you can still make good money off of ebay as long as you understand how money/percentages work. Its pretty basic math and i suck at math lol.

I have bad luck with cracked screens. I've got 2 flat screens about 2 or 3 years old that I kept after I busted them. I gotta take them bitches apart and find out what's what...
I don't get it... Ur saying "sold for" on all the different parts, but ur still holding them in ur hand. Are they sold online but ur yet to ship them out?
I’m not rich but when ever something won’t turn in on start acting up we go buy a new one I save all my smart electrical products I mean everything my car garage is full but in my mind I feel like something personal of mine is been taken away maybe I should take them apart and sell
Has nothing to do with how we are raised, but if you have just a few TVs, the chemicals and items needed to recover the gold cost is more than the gold recovered. Thanks you for watching
I see your point, I had a little less than 2 hours laborr involved....I guess I am stupid enough to work for $50 per hour.....how much do you make an hour???????????
You are correct, prices have come down some since posting this video, but, breaking something down for parts will often net more than selling whole. A person is willing to give $50 for a part to fix there TV, saving the $150 from buying a new one. Thank you for watching.
I'm in kind of a rough spot atm and have been scrapping and recently have learned it's stuff in flat screen you can profit from.I have rite many broken flat screens bit it's just so hard for me to believe I can actually sell them for parts broken down like that but your not the first person I've seen say this.
@@danielghedgepeth2048 If you know the TV, and what was wrong with it. You can sell the working parts. I have sold a ton on ebay over the years, but have been moving toward facebook. You can look up groups, people that repair and use the parts, easy way to sell and you do not loose any money for ebay fees. I wish you the best of luck.
Dishonest. That TV scrap isn't worth more than $5. No one will pay $50 for a flatscreen motherboard for a no name brand when they can buy a new TV for under $500. And the shred scrap that you say is worth $10, I doubt you could get more than $1.
Just sold power supply board for 50 plus shipping on ebay from a 75 cent vizio tv. Ive got 22 tvs i bought as new damage freight with bids auction style, i plan to make at least 3k net profit just on the tvs parts
David Jones not bad I got tired of tearing them apart, so I decided to list on eBay as a whole. Believe it or not I've been selling the whole tvs without stands, power cords, or remotes for 100-150 a piece. These tvs are high end 4K, uhd, mostly lg and Samsung, couple curves etc. got maybe $10 in each tv.
stephen b That's not bad. Tearing them down does take a lot of time and storage space lol. Are you taking a money loss selling as a whole? How long you been doing this?
Edward, I am sure you have proof it did not sell....right? You would not open your mouth and make yourself look like a fool without proof.....right?? Take the time and look at the "random" SOLD listing on ebay !!
So you get over $200 and I can buy a new TV for $200. I call bullshit. Nobody is paying those prices for working boards. You can make $3-10 maximum if you take it apart.
Did you see how old this video is???? OR did you just knee jerk you answer and not think about how stupid it makes you look???? The video is seven years old. At the time the TV market had not yet move into the cheap throw away models of today. Next time slow down, think before you open your mouth.

What about the polarized film
Not found a great use for it yet. Do you have an idea?
@@happyscrapper8655 make sun glasses out of them 3-D effect new phones coming out where screen is invisible. U need polorized glasses to see screen
You can go on Ebay and search under SOLD, this will show you what the item has sold for.
that is correct
Listen Closely.
Some people are so smrt!
Great contribution!
Thank you so much
Have a smart tv. Dont know parts have value or not. Dont know USA only markedet used tv parts.
wow I feel stupid
I’m not rich but when ever something won’t turn in on start acting up we go buy a new one I save all my smart electrical products I mean everything my car garage is full but in my mind I feel like something personal of mine is been taken away maybe I should take them apart and sell
I guess you could give them to me :)
How accurate is this in 2023?
I got 4 55 broken TVs
How/where do you sell?
I would rather silver gold and copper bullion afterwards. I dunno guess we were raised different lol 😂
Has nothing to do with how we are raised, but if you have just a few TVs, the chemicals and items needed to recover the gold cost is more than the gold recovered. Thanks you for watching
too bad there's no market for plastic there's a lot of different petroleum products that come off of plastic
Nobody fixes tv anymore cost more than it's worth
$220 bucks subtract shiping costs eBay fees PayPal fees ect and ur labor time. Your lucky to make $100
I see your point, I had a little less than 2 hours laborr involved....I guess I am stupid enough to work for $50 per hour.....how much do you make an hour???????????
@@happyscrapper8655 not saying ur stupid at all just saying it takes labor time to make $$$. I make good money working with fiberglass.
I don't get it you saying it's $220 worth but the tv wouldn't cost near that brand new.
I am so glad you didn't make us watch you unscrewing screws.
Ive got 22 tvs i bought as new damage freight with bids auction style, i plan to make at least 3k net profit just on the tvs parts
l3onl2 How did that go for you?
David Jones not bad I got tired of tearing them apart, so I decided to list on eBay as a whole. Believe it or not I've been selling the whole tvs without stands, power cords, or remotes for 100-150 a piece. These tvs are high end 4K, uhd, mostly lg and Samsung, couple curves etc. got maybe $10 in each tv.
stephen b That's not bad. Tearing them down does take a lot of time and storage space lol. Are you taking a money loss selling as a whole? How long you been doing this?
Dishonest??? Look up the items on ebay...see for yourself.
I bought a tv just like that for $139.00 brand new, and if you can get 200 in metal out of it I will kiss you square on the ass
Who buys components?
Did not sell, guy is looking at random ebay listings. Scrapped for $5.
Edward, I am sure you have proof it did not sell....right? You would not open your mouth and make yourself look like a fool without proof.....right??
Take the time and look at the "random" SOLD listing on ebay !!
No thanks, no shits given about random ebay listings.
Edward, how does it feel to be schooled?
So you get over $200 and I can buy a new TV for $200. I call bullshit. Nobody is paying those prices for working boards. You can make $3-10 maximum if you take it apart.
Did you see how old this video is???? OR did you just knee jerk you answer and not think about how stupid it makes you look???? The video is seven years old. At the time the TV market had not yet move into the cheap throw away models of today. Next time slow down, think before you open your mouth.
the video is 7-8 years old
