Thanks man, I try to reach the max potential of every build If I can, however the aesthetics of how I want the character to look sometimes wins me over aha 😅 So I try to Incorporate both when I can Glad you liked It man 👍
Definitely a good one handed and shield build but it just didn’t feel very paladin like to me. Needed more magic involvement for me. Possibly ditch the shield and use spells in the left hand. Maybe a combo of switching between fire destruction magic and healing and ward spells.
Fun build, I use a dwarven style pladdin everything is dwarven except for spellbreaker shield. Pretty much a one handed rhino any battle I just drop my head and charge. I just use a plain dwarven sword smithed and enchanted up without any crazy smither or enchant potion because your pretty much a god with the shield charge perk
Why don't you start with Breton for extra magic resistance? Skills like one-handed, heavy armor, etc, can be relatively easily acquired, but resistance is much more valuable.
I think you’re saying can you use different armor sets - yes you can but they need to be strong and tanky looking because that’s what the paladin is all about :)
For playstation players this is how you can level up most of your skills pretty fast: Step one: install ymd2 mod Step 2: delete the mod when your in the game Step 3: go to novice difficulty and you and your enemy cant damage each other but can level up your skills. Its broken as hell and its a leveling god mode sorta thing

Another race that could work if you wanna go full tank is Orc because of the berserker rage cutting all damage taken in half

Any race can work and Breton is one of the best races, I just went with Imperial for starting skill bonuses in the skills I needed

Is dragonplate armor only in AE version?
No. All you need to do is get 100 smithing skill and you can craft it :)
