But the land itself is filled with secrets, as is her new ally, and Petra will have to adapt to a new area, new enemies, and even new prey-- and the surprising bounty she finds may bring with it an untold danger...

To clarify for the comments (spoilers below!):
Loki is _NOT_ Petra's mate! Petra is Charon's mate, but was separated from him and her surviving pups in the blizzard that resulted in her ending up in Lost River. Loki is 2 years old as of spring time, so too young to disperse and seek a mate until fall. He serves the purpose of a mate in game mechanics alone-- in canon he is much more of a son/little brother to Petra and is _not_ the father of her pups (Petra was already carrying Charon's pups when they got split up).
The story lore doesn't always perfectly align with game mechanics-- this series takes a few liberties.
You should remake Loki as a wolf in your roster! He’s such an interesting character, vocal and hyperactive, inexperienced and cunning.

@@MysticFoxWildlifeArt We don't know what Charon thinks at this point, we may learn more at some point in the future. As far as Petra is aware, he is still with the older pups from last litter.

Petra looks up. It's the darkest thing he's mentioned, but his eyes are still bright. "Sickness got her." Loki twitches his torn ear. "It's not like the illness my pa says happens over the mountains. He says it's different here, so ma kept me in."
She has to wonder how young he was when he lost his sibling. Where the timeline fits with the attack that placed him alone. Maybe that's how he got the collar. An injured young pup, alone in a strange place... Prime interest for the humans some wolves back home say helped them and let them go.
She's not sure how to ask about that, and it doesn't feel too smart to try, so she glances around the large stone walls, in hopes of some elk- maybe just a hare- the pup looks like he needs a fresh meal.
"Your hunting?"
Now it feels like a silly question. Overprotective family, time with humans, wandering on borders in search of food. Where would he have had time to even teach himself?
Loki chuckles, then shakes his head. "Dad promised he'd always be around to do it for us. They didn't want me to ever worry about food on my own."
Petra feels a twinge of anger.
Not at him, at his parents. She's a mother, she likes to think she knows what pups need. The thought of shoving her pups deep into the den, keeping them in and telling Charon to fetch food makes her grimace, which she prays she hid before Loki noticed. It's easy to imagine him seeing only the best in his parent's' intentions, it's not easy to imagine he ever had anyone tell him that's not a normal life for a pup.
"I'd love to learn though." A smile pulls at the corners of Loki's mouth. "Pa liked to tease the farmer on the ranch."
Her hackles raise, a shudder passes through her. "That sounds like a dangerous game to play."
Loki cocks his head. "You've never been."
She can't imagine it, either. It sounds new, unnatural. Elk was the way to go back home. Elk, deer, hares. The thought of taking any pup into such a strange-sounding situation isn't one she has gladly.
"Tell you what," Loki stands. "I let you show me how to hunt, and when you're ready, you let me show you the ranch."
A laughed sigh breaks from her. She nods.
Loki hops excitably, nodding. "Also, once we eat," His tail wags. "I have a moose to show you."
Aaaa I love this! Such a good take on these two and some interesting guesses at Loki's story!

Lost River is such a pretty map, and the hidden lore makes it even better. I think my new favorite thing is going to be rewatching people play it over and over again lol
ive been playing the DLC map for 3 days from 12:pm to 4AM EST and have barely started unlocking its secrets. Anyone happen to know where the graveyard or haunted house is by any chance? I've been looking and havent been finding it

I love how much Loki actually sticks to the character you play him as, like how he playbowed in a reassuring way at Petra who seemed hesitant. Love these vids and hope to see more of Petra and her ally Loki!
Loki has got to be one of my favorite NPC characters in any series so far, my gosh. I can do a lot with storytelling but it absolutely helps when the game itself backs me up, and Loki has done that to a T! Even when he's not necessarily the most _competent_ it's in a way that's so on brand, and I'm really excited for y'all to see more of him. He's truly been a special one!

@@JayPlays535 Yeah, I’ve only had one other mate sort of like that named Autumn and she’s super active and will mark the territory and find herds for me! It’s super nice that the NPCs are so smart lol
You should totally play as Loki one day and explore his story along with his future pups that he'll surely get soon after Petra finds her mate again since she'll have taught him how to hunt and act more mature. You should also name his pack 'The Lost Ones' or 'The Lost Pack' since he was lost as a puppy and he lives in lost river, should also name his future pups after structures in Lost River like 'Fire' for the watch tower, 'Geyser' for the hot springs, 'Mote' for the Motels, etc or just run around and find some brand labels that you can name them lol
I so loved the new Lost River DLC
My wolf Luna experienced most of her years raising at least 5 litters total in Lost River. She had decided to leave Lost River and find a new mate and raise her last litter in Slough Creek. Since she was age 8 she died very soon after she had her pups and because she underestimated how weak she was so she died because she hunted a moose lol
Only one of her pups died tho so I'm glad that most of her pups lived.
Don’t do it! Don’t go to the cattle ranch! I was shot right after bringing down a calf. I was playing my accurate iron wolf so they might miss shots on easy and challenging
There definitely are dangers at the ranch, that is for sure! We shall have to see what Petra encounters...
@@JayPlays535 that could be an interesting challenge you can play as iron wolf on accurate only hunting cattle ranch cows that might be something for one of petras pups that maybe doesn't want to leave lost river and maybe stays in its birth place

lost river is ABSOLUTELY more than worth the money it is. i'd even argue it's worth more than the actual price. the dogs were a huge surprise for my friend and i and we had such a blast exploring. i got to tell her all about the old lost river and how the cattle ranch worked in the old games. this map is such a gem and its just a taste of what tower fall is going to be like (as if slough creek doesn't do the entire game justice already).
i hope petra manages to raise her babies and keep them all alive with loki... charon's going to lose his mind looking for her, i just know it.
Yessss the team really outdid themselves with Lost River! I was so thrilled to see how much more than just "new map" it is-- it's hardly just a reskinned Yellowstone with more human elements, it's got a few mechanics and considerations unique to itself, which is awesome for a DLC!
We shall definitely have to see! She's gonna do her best-- hopefully Charon and the other babies are managing alright as well ;-;
@@JayPlays535 and its amazing how they made it look like a completely new map but still familiar! also the cattle ranch come back makes so much more sense on LR than SC. ive missed petra! and the challenge pack making a season 2 has filled me with such joy as of late. i find myself refreshing everyones' channels looking for more episodes 😅

hey Jay! I've been watching your content for a while now and I have been absolutely blown away at how well your device can run the game with good graphics, density and variation of the grass, etc. I wanted to ask what device you use, and how much RAM you have? I've been wanting to get more RAM for my own laptop but have been scared that my only option will be getting a PC (which currently isn't in my price range, especially because this is a fairly new laptop and I'm hoping it'll last a long time before I can afford a PC). tysm!
I use a custom built system with a GeForce RTX 3060, 10-core i9 processor, and 64gb RAM. That's probably beefier than it needs to be to _just_ run WolfQuest, though, since it's also built to handle the load from recording itself!

The haunted house is behind Midnight Mountian, and the graveyard for the 'graveyard shift' achievement is south from Allison Acres
I got the map and I love it, however I being insane risked my iron wolf run to get an achivemet for the cattle ranch, somehow I survived

So why Petra?
With where she and Cassia are in their stories, I felt like this would make for a more interesting twist for Petra! Though, Cassia would have also had different, interesting potential. Not sure she would have been as open to the ranch though, she knows more about it.

Names will not be from comments for this series and Crow’s due to them being prerecorded. Most series that aren’t prerecorded (which is almost all of them) will still take comment names.

So the game saying Loki is 3 is inaccurate?
The game considers Loki to be 2 and this is accurate. He was just under two years when Petra found him in winter, and turned 2 properly around the same time as her pups were born. Due to the way I ran age ups for this series, both Petra being listed as 4 and Loki being listed as 2 are correct.

@@MysticFoxWildlifeArt In canon she turned 4 when the pups were born. In canon, Loki also turned 2 when the pups were born.
Mechanically, I did work off camera to ensure all ages would be correct. None of this off-camera mechanical work counts as canon.
