Isaiah Hudson Thank you for bringing awareness of this Master Class vocal treasure to new fans that would have missed it completely. Name ONE popular artist today that sings like this, just one? Si Lara Fabian n'est pas la reine, qui l'est ?
Adagio is an italian word, that means "Slowly" or, like in this song, "patiently". This is also used in music to define the pace of a music (a bit slow, between lento and andante) and also as a name of a piece of a sonata, concerto or symphony that is using that specific pace. The music from this song of Lara Fabian is a pop translation of an italian classic piece called "Albinoni's Adagio". It was written in 1958 by Remo Giazotto who was an admirer of Albinoni, a musician from the 17th/18th century. He claimed it was from him and gave his music this name but there is consensus today that he most probably has composed it himself. The classic music piece is globally famous and there were many different translations into different songs, with different music compositions, mostly operatic, and different lyrics (the band Renaissance, Daniele Licari, Sarah Brightman and Sissel Kyrkjebo for instance). But the most famous version, by far, is Lara’s version: it was translated into a pop song for her, she wrote lyrics in italian then co-wrote the english lyrics for it and is the original performer of these 2 versions. She kept the title Adagio and wrote a story with a double meaning: a woman that is awaiting to find her love / an artist that is awaiting the god of inspiration. This song has become a classic and has been covered by many : Shirley Bassey (!!), Dimash (Lara is his absolute idol and he covered several of her songs), Floor Jansen, Polina Gagarina, Dmitri Hvorostovsky, Julie Anne San Jose, Charice Penpengco, Giulia Falcone, Laura Bretan, Il Divo, Rimar, Vitas, Anastasia Luna, Evgenia Fanfara, , … They made great covers but none of these match the amazing storytelling performance of Lara, or her ability to use vocal subtleties to be in sync with the music, exposed in her live from the concert From Lara with Love. ruclips.net/video/bqoS-KOLV_4/видео.html Her italian version is also amazing. A famous italian version: ruclips.net/video/qf7xcMN-TYI/видео.html Or you can check her recent excellent renditions: - in Zagreb, late april 2024 (italian) : ruclips.net/video/06WOD2AxTTM/видео.htmlsi=pXrU2vQ1Lrca2PTs - In London, Royal Albert Hall, with Hauser playing cello, on May 9th 2024 (english): ruclips.net/video/ikWpOJT4y9g/видео.htmlsi=WSoA4RXiw-TMmRNv
Lara is amazing and just one of the most lovely persons on earth. You obviously like Lata very much just as me. If you like these kind of performances then please take a look at a young Dutch girl called Emma Kok. She often depicted as a young Lara Fabian. It's comforting to see that a new generation of young artists coming to this level. Emma performed the French song 'Voilá' last year on the stage with the famous conductor André Rieu. This video is a must see and I'm sure you'll love it. There is an important introduction at the start of the official video, please don't skip it.
