If Bonaparte and Crowler hadn’t been so selfish and had worked together from the start, they could have won on their second turns and neither of them would have had to have a lower position than the other. Here’s how: First, Bonaparte has all three of his Toy Soldiers attack Pegasus to reduce the latter’s LP to 2800. Then, if Crowler had drawn his Gear Golem earlier and had summoned Trojan Horse instead of Ancient Gear Soldier on turn 1, he could have sacrificed it via its effect to summon Gear Golem on turn 2. And when Crowler’s Main Phase 1 of his second turn came, he could have summoned Ancient Gear Golem by using Trojan Horse’s effect of counting as two tributes for the tribute summon of an Earth-attribute monster, then attacked Toon Alligator, the 1400-point difference between Toon Alligator’s 1600 DEF and Ancient Gear Golem’s 3000 ATK reducing Pegasus’ LP to 1400, and upon activating Ancient Gear Explosive to destroy Pegasus’ remaining LP, as half of 3000 is 1500, 100 more than necessary to win the duel.
Am I missing something here because I thought pierce damage to lifepoints didn't occur if the destroyed monster is in defence mode, or does that still happen in the anime?

each of them individualy can beat pegasus. and they did. yugi beat him twice (the first victory was interupted by the timer, but he could have won on strategy alone). kaiba lost once, but did get a win in the movie, and once won against his deck in the orichalcos arc.

What duels?, he dies in the manga and in anime he was only an support character after he recover from coma. Maybe I don't remember right, but this was his final duel before he was out of the series
