Willie Akers, a personal friend and former teammate of Jerry West, remembers the icon

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WCHS) - Since news of Jerry West’s death circulated, reactions have poured in from across the country, but no one had a connection quite like two of West's closest friends from West Virginia.
"I describe him as the greatest basketball player to ever live," Willie Akers told Eyewitness Sports.
