I’m 62, single, with a dog and cat and have a chance to move anywhere for the first time. Currently live in crowded South Florida and am over it. I love nature and am sooo bored, would love to do something like this! My family thinks you can’t do much without a husband. 😳Thanks for sharing! Hope to get up the nerve to take a leap!
I’ve lived just fine without a husband since 1998. I don’t own an RV but I do own my own mobile home on my own property. I have family but I choose to be alone. I have a very gas efficient car so I can pack it with a sleeping bag and a few things I need for a few days and just go. I’m still thinking about downsizing further and getting an RV. I’d love to be able to spend part of the time on the west coast and some time here with my family in the Midwest.
Her comment "Whatever you did in your home, you do out here" is insightful... that we just keep living the way we are, wherever we are. Reading, watching TV, friends -- and now, during Covid, so many more virtual friends than before. Great video, and lovely interior design on that RV!
This episode was instrumental in my decision to sell my house and get out of Dodge (perhaps on a Dodge). At 72, I'm not willing to sit around until the other shoe drops. You understand. I'm so excited. Thanks. Love all that you do.

This one right here is my absolute favorite and is right up my alley. It’s really a Beautiful, well designed home on wheels. It’s got excellent utilization of all spaces and her creative storage is fantastic! And how about the great sized refrigerator AND freezer, and that awesome pantry her son built her?! Impressive. Without spending a fortune. It also feels spacious without being to huge to drive with ease, and is a well maintained home with lots of little things I love. The pantry. The end kitchen. The bathroom with dry shower. The fridge/freezer. The sofa. The beautiful cabinetry. THE BUNK. And it would never feel claustrophobic because it’s got wonderfully high ceilings. I’d live in that in a second. When I was a child and my parents and I (I’m an only child) would get in our RV once a year to travel the country so my father could preach at different tent revivals (its a whole Pentecostal thing, don’t get me started 🤦♀️) being on the road watching the world go by from my top bunk window was my absolute favorite part of traveling. The top bunk was my own little secret cave world and when I was up there, looking out, it was almost like flying. I remember being up in the mountains of Shenandoah when I was about 10 or 11; and looking out over a steep drop from my bunk perch, I saw a hawk circling below, as mist rolled off the trees on the mountainside. I was transfixed. It was one of the most beautiful, awe inspiring, majestic moments of my life, and one that even all these years later, I can recall with perfect clarity. And even now, the mountains call my name. I related to her right away when she said how she likes to be up in that bunk and it’s where she prefers to sleep. I get it 💯. If I had this rig right here, I’d stay right up in that bunk too. And it would be my own secret world once again. It’s a wonderful place to be. I absolutely love it and this particular rig❤️👍

Dear Barbara, Thank you for taking the time out to make the video tour of your beautiful RV, you’ve certainly done a great job with it. The kitchen at the back is just brilliant. I certainly hope that one day I may be so brave. Thank You, Blessings.
I love the rear kitchen. Both kitchen and bathroom seem very roomy for the size of the RV! I hope someone starts making this style in the future. It appeals to me more than any I've seen in my nearly 70 years.
I saw this a couple of years ago and LOVED that floorplan. About 3mos ago I found a 2001 23ft Jamboree motorhome with rear kitchen, very similar to hers. It feels like a tiny house instead of just a camper. Thanks for the inspiration!
Perfect set-up. Love the amount of living space with a nice big sofa and an eating/working area...and that kitchen!! The bed at the top allows for so much more living space...just perfect.
This is one of my favorite interviews because of this lady’s laid back personality and because she is so happy with her decision. If I didn’t have a husband I would buy as close to this type rig and GO! But I have too many pets right now anyway, so who knows what the future might bring...
I can definitely relate to this lady!!! I have the same personality when it comes to her RV living! You'd be amazed how many people have a like minded attitude as this woman does. Great video! And with the dogs too... awesome!
You stole my words. I guess you are right. ''Chance'' made I just watched this video as I'm going to visit that same RV next saturday after having sold my house...
This is like the 7th time I have watched this one!!! I love her rig and I will be able to afford something this nice in about 10 years when I retire. PERFECT!
I absolutely love this RV, the kitchen in the rear is great. Lots of cupboard space. Full shower and the bed is up out of the way giving much more room.
My son, Josh Blalock, owns Pro-tech RV in Colorado Springs, Colo. He has an RV that he is re-modeling the inside for me. I am retired and plan on moving into this Spring. I have thought a lot about RV living since I retired. I love watching all your videos on RV living. I need all the info I can get. Thank you so much for the info!
I don’t think I’ve seen another RV “meet and tour” video that has resonated with me as much as this one. Barbara is my kindred spirit and her lifestyle and home just make me smile. I couldn’t do van life but I could definitely do this! Barbara, not like you need it but Congratulations on 5yrs of great RV living on your own terms!
Bob I remember this video about Barbara and her rig from before. She is such an inspiration. She is out there living her life and not letting the kids take care of her. I love the setup of this model. I think I would be sleeping in the couch area. It is a lot easier to get back and forth to the bathroom for those night time visits. Hhahahah
"Great Video" Sweet Lady ☺️ Very, Very, nice setup for living the RV life. 😎 Safe Travel's, to you and your little fur friend, cute little 🐕 💕 may you and yours be blessed with good health and happiness, Today, Tomorrow, and Alway's.👍🍃🇺🇸🕊️🌎🕊️🍃
I am so glad there are more like-minded women out there hopefully I will see her when I get out in that area she's doing what I'm planning on doing is just making that loop
Well I'm retired and have often thought I'd love to travel and see new places, perhaps meet new people, unlike Barbara I haven't moved around, I've lived in the same house since 1992.I did travel around Indiana Ohio and Michigan for work, I have to admit the idea of traveling around the country seems more possible if you don't have to pay for a hotel everywhere you go and have your basics covered on 4 wheels. I already have a GMC 2500 conversion van, so this has sure got me thinking. It looks both interesting and fun and I need to watch more videos similar to this to learn more to see how you smart folks do this.........
Barbara, has it together! Pioneer woman. She does what many of us would love to do but we don't cause of serious health conditions. God Bless you, Barbara! Stay safe out there! I love that rear kitchen.. it sold me!
Mike, it's $225 or the New Mexico State Parks pass for all their state parks for a year. They are too cold to stay in during the winter and some close. So we go to Arizona and California and stay in the LTVAs for $180 for 7 months. But, 3 months are too hot so we usually stay there for around 4 months.
hey if I stayed even from say May til Oct thats still a great deal! Thank you!.....plus I was unaware Quartzite even charged,,,,,,lots of good info.........I will also check out slab city
Mike - you can also stay for free at the BLM camping areas in and around Quartzsite. 14 day limit, then move to another area. No services provided, and you have to move a certain number of miles to be legal. All that info should be on their website, and you also get written info when you check in with the camp hosts. :)
I like the fact that NM state parks have total facilities,,all for 61 cents a day......I will use places like Quartzite, slab city etc to and from CAL,,,and thanks !!
I'm never bored and have had wanderlust all my life. Dreamed of having an RV to see all of America for as long as I can remember. Age 40 my health went south and almost 20 years later I still yearn to do this. Hope to meet you all someday... soon? Enjoy everybody!
I've been contemplating this for awhile. I'm totally alone, living in senior housing, getting no exercise or stimulation of any kind. It might be a nice adventure.
This one has me hooked! I've watched it over and over.... One day I'm going to make this happen...... Thanks Bob and Barbara for something to dream about. Cathy
Me too, I can't count the times I've watched this video. I would love to find a class C just like hers! :) I would need many lessons on how to runs things. I'm not worried about driving it, but every things else.
Cathy Wv , Barbara and Bob. I’ve watched this a few times too. This is in my future plans as well. I totally get it. I totally need this! Although I live on the East Coast Area. The west is calling me. I can’t wait to meet my future friends and travel buddies! Faye
I just purchased an 2002 itasca Spirit 24 ft. with the rear kitchen. It would of been my last choice in a layout but I didn't need a dedicated bedroom. I didn't notice if Barbara had a slide but mine does. Thanks for all the tips!
I absolutely ADORE this back kitchen set up! My goodness does it bring an entirely different feeling to the rig! In fact, I think this is the nicest rig I have seen-everything is coordinated in beautiful fabrics and patterns. I especially like that she sleeps up in the overhead berth. I do not like going into a camper and seeing the bed right there. I like areas broken down by space-living room, dining, kitchen, etc. with the bed tucked out of the way. I could move into this camper in a heartbeat!
We lived in our RV for nearly a year while building our new home. Summer was great because we had an "Add-A-Room" that gave us a screened-in area for eating outside in the summer, and had a little kitchen sink for cleaning up out there as well. Winter was pretty bad - we rented 5 acres (beautiful in good weather!) but when the power went out we had no water, no toilet, etc. We also had high winds in our area that were kind of scary with big trees all around. When the weather got totally miserable, we finally moved the RV into the garage at our unfinished home. We like our new home, but we're thankful to know that if we needed to, we could live in the RV or even in our sailboat. So Bob... have you interviewed people living in their boats yet? Thanks for all of these interviews!
Everyone in these videos seem so calm, content, and generally happy! Get away from the 9-5 hustle and live more simply like we're supposed to and it does wonders for your mental state.
I love the rear kitchen concept also. Saw one years ago, and knew that was the perfect arrangement to keep the entrance/exit away from the work center.
Thank you for sharing. I am widowed now for 4 months and just purchased a conversion van to begin my travels. You gave me confidence that I can do this! Jan
Jan, I'm so sorry for your loss. You will meet people while traveling who will help fill your time and teach you things and suggest places to go, and keep your spirits up. And you'll be so proud of yourself! Because you CAN do this! You go, girl! :)
eckankar Well a lot has happened since I commented to you! I had a fantastic solo trip from Northern California to Washington state to visit my son. A great trip indeed! But came home and sold the van as my bed was SO small and uncomfortable. I purchased a 2007 Class B+ 29’ Gulfstream and still loving it.
Then last year I caravanned with my daughter to Mississippi! A 3-1/2 week trip. What fun! I’m so loving my RV! Thank you for thinking of me. It was great to hear from you!
I love your videos and your wonderfully positive attitude towards women living on their own. Thank you for showcasing their success stories. You and these women are inspiring!
She is my hero... She said every thing I think... I am grateful to have found this video, after the 150+ i've watched RE: boondocking/full-time RV living... thank you!
Now this looks and seems great . Other ones you interviewed reminded me of being HOME LESS and having to grunge their way through life . She looked clean as well as her home - was the biggest sign of being happy to me . GOD BLESS
Barbara, you are so courageous and authentic! Easy in articulating your nomadic way of life, rich with the necessities of life...family contact and understanding! Bravo! You have inspired my retirement plan!! Thank you.
Yes, Barbara is neat and organised. Not too cluttered. Big enough for 1 x person. Like how she have planned her annual stay. As said she is not really a "traveller"...needed a secure, non expensive living environment and has a different scenery every few weeks/month. Affordable for her, which is peace-of-mind. 😊
Barbara Boy can I relate to you. I feel like we could be same person different parents!! I'm the "Gypsy" in my family and I'm in same situation as far expenses are concerned. You have inspired me so I'm now starting to look for my home on wheels!!
This was very helpful. It's nice to know loners are not so rare. Plus., getting a newer RV and a class C makes it doable for me. I love to drive and always enjoyed camping when we bought an older class C back in the 90s. Great video and inspired me to keep my dream alive.
This gives me hope! I L-O-V-E this! I'm turning 40 yr old on Friday and for as long as I can remember I've wanted to do something like this. I have an 8yr old son, so I know it's still some time away, but seeing this woman shows me that it can and will be done. Thank you so much for sharing this! God Bless!
Happy Birthday, Kristi! (That's my daughter's name, too.) You have lots of time to research and save your money for what you want. If you can buy an RV earlier than expected, I'll bet your son would love vacations in a rolling home for a week or two, and the occasional weekend! :)
That is true! I know we would both love the experience. Thank you for the birthday wish as well! I just found your blog and will be following your adventures! Safe travels my friend! :-)
Really nice Barbara. You sacrificed so little to gain so much. Ive been watching videos and your nomad style of living is the closest to my personal style. Thanks.
Bob, thank you for answering me!!!! What a thrill!!! I am a DIY person, big dime, and I love to camp. Thank you for the invite!!!! Love your adventures and interviews, thank you for sharing.
I. love. this. rv!!!! as I make a list of what I want rv-wise, a rear kitchen is now on my list. thank you for reposting this particular vid! I hope to be one of your subjects sometime in the future!
I have to say that is the nicest interior layout for a 24 fter i have seen. Does not feel cramped and the kitchen, "sofa" table, bed and even the bathroom n shower are amazing. Not to mention the full length storage cabinets!
When we started camping, we started with a pop-up pulled behind our '78 Z28 Camaro. We then traded the pop-up for a 22 ft Class C. Had that for 2 years and made the jump to buy a 24 ft Class C. I sometimes wish we still had our RV and believe me, if things keep going the way they are, we may be back into a RV! Thanks for firing up my imagination and giving me hope.
Well that's $1000 a month would not actually be going into the bank, unless you paid for the rig up front. Plus you still have gas, maintenance, upkeep, ect..Just have to look at the overall big picture.
All these people are going through a fad and that's alright, but that's all it is. I did it for a couple of years too. I've met few people who actually stay with it long. You'll just end up missing more of a stable home life. It sounds good and looks good, but it gets old. I bet the woman in this video has probably sold it by now and got an apartment or house. Just the nature of it all. There are a few exceptions, but it's really rare.
@@sabrinariggs470 Hi Sabrina - thanks for your comment! Actually... I've settled down in a house now, and finally made the decision to sell The Palms. Class Cs offer a lot. We have downsized from a 32-ft diesel pusher (which was so useful in our different lifestyle) to a 21-ft Built for Two by Born Free. Center aisle, two "sofas" we use as twin beds across from each other, wet bath, and all the good amenities. Not a plug for Born Free, but we have been satisfied with this shorter Class C for our travels and camping stops. A single person full-timing might well consider a Class C over a van or other Class B. In the long term, the extra room could be worth the difference in purchase price. This lady has done a marvelous job. Definitely not for packrats!

It has been 3 1/2 years now. I hope you're still living life the way you want it.
Watching these videos has me thinking!
That is a really well laid out RV...very nice! Great info on the state park passes too.
Hi Bob, is the park pass info in your book?
This is good info thanks Bob.
Best of luck!
You really shouldn't lay out so much personal information on a RUclips video. You've got your name, your son's, his business etc. Not a good idea.
Same here! I thought I was hearing myself talking. Very impressing. Just like one of those ''messages from above''.
That's awesome, I too live in my motorhome and love it. My family thought it was a crazy idea
I love that rear kitchen.. it sold me!
This is a great setup. I can see myself living in something like this. Very informative. Thank you Barbara. Be safe and many blessings.
I have never seen an RV that made me this excited. The rear kitchen is FABULOUS!!!
OMG OMG,,.$225 to stay in New Mexico...and Quartzite??? This lady changed my life !!!
CheapRVliving
We live in texas currently about 300 miles away from Mexico and its cold here but not as bad as Minnesota or Michigan
I'm never bored and have had wanderlust all my life. Dreamed of having an RV to see all of America for as long as I can remember. Age 40 my health went south and almost 20 years later I still yearn to do this. Hope to meet you all someday... soon? Enjoy everybody!
I love her RV home. It is very cozy and we'll structured
I've been contemplating this for awhile. I'm totally alone, living in senior housing, getting no exercise or stimulation of any kind. It might be a nice adventure.
I felt the same, am in a similar situation.
Jane Johnson a yr later did u do it jane?
well Jane....have you done it?
I have my own trailer 28 feet a little to much for me at 62. I'd love to have something this size.

She has beautiful hair. And she's living my dream 👍
That is the best motorhome I have ever seen. She truly does have a wonderful home. Very nice lady... ☀️
This one has me hooked! I've watched it over and over.... One day I'm going to make this happen...... Thanks Bob and Barbara for something to dream about. Cathy
Cathy, I love hearing that!! Thank you!
Looking forward to that lifestyle. Got my van and started part time.
Faye
If I could figure this out, I’d be on the road too. Haven’t figured out how to get a rig. Van is good.
This is the most beautiful one of these that I’ve seen…and the most capacious.
Right? I want that rear kitchen!
I just purchased an 2002 itasca Spirit 24 ft. with the rear kitchen. It would of been my last choice in a layout but I didn't need a dedicated bedroom. I didn't notice if Barbara had a slide but mine does. Thanks for all the tips!
Glad to see these previously recorded, helpful videos back up! Thank you Bob!
She seems to be such a sweet soul. She deserves every happy living moment. 💗💪
I love your videos and your wonderfully positive attitude towards women living on their own. Thank you for showcasing their success stories. You and these women are inspiring!
Itchy-feet-itis. Thank you for giving me the word for the feeling. Thank you for all the videos Bob. I'm so glad I found your channel.
She is my hero... She said every thing I think... I am grateful to have found this video, after the 150+ i've watched RE: boondocking/full-time RV living... thank you!
You are welcome Jenny. Glad it is helpful to you!
Loved meeting Barbara and hearing her great story. I hope to be living that life soon. Good video. Thanks.
Now this looks and seems great . Other ones you interviewed reminded me of being HOME LESS and having to grunge their way through life .
She looked clean as well as her home - was the biggest sign of being happy to me . GOD BLESS
Love the rear kitchen!
Barbara, you are so courageous and authentic! Easy in articulating your nomadic way of life, rich with the necessities of life...family contact and understanding! Bravo! You have inspired my retirement plan!! Thank you.
This is very much on my mind. Im73 but i would dry dock. Its a lot to learn. I do believe this is a good thing. And money wise as well.
Yes I envy her!!! I would love camper living and the traveling!!! Just love her little home on wheels!!
Awesome lady and great floor plan on the coach. Another example of fine folks on the road!!!
She's a shining example of the just do you thing about RV living. She's not a nomad, she likes moving around.
I've watched Barbara several times. She has such a soothing voice, she could calm anyone, I believe. So enjoyable.
I love this! So cosy. Everything has a place, and everything has a purpose! Winning in life 🙋♀️
Barbara Boy can I relate to you. I feel like we could be same person different parents!! I'm the "Gypsy" in my family and I'm in same situation as far expenses are concerned. You have inspired me so I'm now starting to look for my home on wheels!!
This is by far the most inspirational video I've ever seen on RV living. Thank you so much for this! My future is that much more clear now!
Thank you, Arokh B.! That's so nice of you to say. I'm happy you enjoyed the video. :)
300.00 a year for rent! That's pretty awesome!
Love her sacred jeans that are earning holiness as a result of experience.
This was very helpful. It's nice to know loners are not so rare. Plus., getting a newer RV and a class C makes it doable for me. I love to drive and always enjoyed camping when we bought an older class C back in the 90s. Great video and inspired me to keep my dream alive.
Barbara is a free spirit! Love her layout!
She is so pleasant and positive! Good for her!
Thank you for the birthday wish as well!
Thanks.
Love Barbra’s attitude… COME TO PAMPA TEXAS….. nice like east county SD but ChEaPeR!!! Like the 50s60s era.
I love the inside of Barbara's camper. My favorite so far.
Thanks for firing up my imagination and giving me hope.
low bucks im on that even my wife listened your changing minds thanks.
Bob Wells ; Just bought your book. Totally looking forward to reading it.
her Rv is nicer than my apartment. and i pay over a grand a month just in rent.
Hi Nicole - definitely makes you think, doesn't it? Imagine that $1,000/month going into the bank account? :)
Well that's $1000 a month would not actually be going into the bank, unless you paid for the rig up front. Plus you still have gas, maintenance, upkeep, ect..Just have to look at the overall big picture.
Nicole Batenhorst Same. $2,000+ per month. It's awful. I'm planning on RVing.
I think the monthly payment would be waay under $1000 for this!
I love her! What a great idea; something to ponder for the future.
I really appreciate this video. She is so comfortable with her life. It is a joy to see the joy on her face.
This lady is doing it right, Im jealous! And I live in a house! Would love to have an rv like this someday for trips.
Hi I just got a 1994 ford trader motorhome. These videos are fantastic 🤩 I’m in Australia
The only way to make anything happen is to stop saying ‘someday’.
@@eckankar7756 Rent your home, do not sell if you like it and it is affordable. Do not borrow to get an RV and travel in retirement, stay debt free.
I LOVE her "storage secret". Neat, clean & tidy. Thank you bob & Barbara for sharing.
Barbara - this is the interview that totally convinced me to go full time RVing. Thank you!
Wow, krsusort! I hope you will be as happy as I am living this crazy wonderful life. One of the best decisions I've ever made. :)
@@barbd180 hope your still out there living ur dream!
@@sabrinariggs470 Hi Sabrina - thanks for your comment! Actually... I've settled down in a house now, and finally made the decision to sell The Palms. It's going to be a sad day for me when she's driven down the road without me, but she'll make a wonderful home - full time or part time - for someone else.
@@barbd180 maybe me in ten years glad you got to live and thats really living and I totally get settling down too Im gonna do the same steps I think after rving (starting in ten yrs...maybe sooner?) then go home for the rest of my life and Ive been gone from there for more then 30years 💕 happy life sweets may you go on zillions of more adventures!
@@barbd180 also try cruising thats my adventure as of right now take those you love ( my mom in April 💕 shes 72) go for a week or just a few days its amazing!
I agree, if I ever wanted an RV, that would be at the top of my list.
Wow, Barbara. Rarely, if EVER, am I envious of someone else's life. But girl, you've brought it out in me with yours.
Several people that I retired with in the military are enjoying this life. My nephew is enjoying this life. Thanks for sharing this video that will give others options to enjoy their life.
