Aslaug annoyed me to no end as soon as I saw her. Lagertha is a badass shield maiden (skjaldmær) she was the best for Ragnar.

The problem with programs like this is that people overly identify with actors playing long dead historical figures, about which very little is known, as though they can look into the hearts of these figures and make judgements about their lives and what was “best” for them. This show is very good, don’t get me wrong, and I admire the hard work of all involved, but only a very little of the series can be verified as fact. If people want to worship and revile the various characters in this series, fine. But do try to remember it’s 99% fiction.

I felt IT was me who he betrayed, lol. I am now rewatching, had to get over IT and I am about to get to that part again, I hope i dont get mad.

I LOVE Ragnar but shame on him he had it all and choose to throw it all away ! Lagertha is one hell of a woman. 🏹
They’re meant for each other and they still loved each other til the end.
This woman was still his wife even after she left. She handled their relationship maturely than most women. Yes she was angry, yes she was heartbroken. Make no mistake on that. But in the end she stayed his shield wife in his conquest. Kept his son by him, never denied the boy of his father because of her feelings toward him. And healed that wound with Ragnar. Aslaug may have been married to Ragnar, but Lagertha will always be his True Wife.
Lagertha was the only woman he truly loved, Aslaug was just provided a womb and he cared for her but not in the way he loved Lagertha. I loved how real and authentic their love story is. We don’t always end up being with the person we love the most, because life can take you down different paths but that doesn’t change the love that’s there. Tragic but true to real life.

One of the best but most tragic love stories ever written. I hated what he did to Lagertha but I still love them both.
They had such great chemistry together and it was sad to see them apart, but the show kept that aspect realistic for those times. Ragnar has pressure on him from society to have sons who would carry his legacy, especially as he rose to fame and his status in the world so his ego made him stray from his wife. He was physically attracted to Aslaug because she was obviously gorgeous, but Lagertha excites him and is his soul mate, and we saw her join him on her way to Valhalla at the end.
I think 'religion' or 'fates' had something to do with it as well beside culture. Ragnar was told he would sire sons (multiple) and they would become influential. And he wanted the mother to be Lagertha (in the series), but it didn't happen that way, she had a miscarriage... he even considered killing Aslaug at one point before she told him that she was already pregnant. Then he went into denial, knowing that he would probably lose Lagertha :~( and tried to keep her by saying that Aslaug would be the second wife while Lagertha remained the first, but Lagertha knew already it was over :(

Aslaug, imo, wouldn't be 'jealous' because she knew her 'place' or position and as a 'seer' she had faith in her prophecy. I doubt that she was passionately in love with Ragnar. I think while she had true affection and real connection to him because of their 'fate', and that she would be the mother of his children... if she believed she could 'step out of' their fate/prophecy, she probably would've chosen to be with another man. Aslaug at one point, was considering Harbard to be her next husband, that's how 'cold' their marriage was, she was already thinking ahead. If not wrong, she was told that she would be partnered with great/powerful men and bore his/their children, so she intended to fulfill that fate/goal. Lagertha, in this case, was not even a 'competition' for her, she had her own 'fate' to fulfill and she knew that.

Ragnar was bewitched by Ashlaug the witch queen, but even though his married to her, in his heart he's still deeply in love with his first love queen Lagertha. My favorite love story between Ragnar Lothbrok and Lagertha Lothbrok.
Bewitched, you mean in lust, because she was so incredibly beautiful? He was so in lust with Ash that nothing else mattered to him. People are crazy to say he loved Lag truly, how is that true love. A man who's in love doesn't bring other women home lol. People are either insane or they're trying to make themselves feel better about this horrible love story.

So Queen Lagertha Lothbrok is the true queen and Ashlaug was the concubine that gave Ragnar Lothbrok 3 more son's.
It really breaks my heart how much they always loved each other but he hurt her so badly. For him to come to her saying how he basically wishes he could have taken it all back, boy that really made me cry.

Ragnar & Lagertha we’re an Amazing Couple onscreen their chemistry was so Passionate. That’s what made Vikings such a Great Movie. I fell in love with Ragnar, Lagertha, Rollo, & Floki. Without them I wouldn’t have made it through all 6 Seasons. But Season 1 - 4 we’re truly the BEST ❤️❤️ 💔

As a fan of both Vikings and The Last Kingdom I love both shows. Vikings gave me Lagertha where she’s a strong shield maiden not to be fucked with many other characters; but TLK gave Uhtred who I think is 10X the man and leader than Ragnar. His love for his men (Finnan and Sihdric are my favs) and their loyalty to him is unmatched and Ragnar never had this bc he consistently fucked it up. By the the time Ragnar was able to trust his men he ended up becoming addicted to opium and after that was killed for foolish mistakes, which of course was in part due to the writing. Say what you will but Last Kingdom is superior.
Go watch it then? I don't understand comparing two shows and then commenting it on the videos of the show that's "inferior". No one in this video said this show is better so why are you giving counter points to arguments no one made?
