Which wasn't a shot at isrealis but rather an observation of the oppressed vs. oppressor. I'd say typically, in these circumstances, there's a distinction, whether it be religion, nationality, or ethnicities.

Your dad was in a war that his side lost in large part because it was not a conventional war, it was an army using guerrilla warfare tactics. The US also was not attacking a captive population in a massive refugee camp. But oddly your analogy does work somewhat, because like the US, Israel is indiscriminately bombing the sht out of 1000s of civilians. Yet the US lost to tactics of tunnels, traps, and ambush terror strikes.

Conventional Warfare: a form of warfare conducted by using conventional weapons and battlefield tactics between two or more states in open confrontation. The forces on each side are well-defined and fight by using weapons that target primarily the opponent's military.

I agree. But the more I listen to The Hill, the more I realize that neither really has a firm grasp on much of what they speak on. They say things that are false all the time without any pushback. To put this in terms people can understand, in the Ukrainian-Russian conflict, over these past years, the combined death toll for both sides is 15,000 or less. In the order of 2 month, over 20,000 Palestinians have been killed. It's shocking to see the dichtomy of mainstream media reporting of these two conflicts. And it's made even stranger by the Ukrainians formidable army yet we still were made to feel sympathetic to their cause. Meanwhile the Palestinians have virtually no means to protect themselves, and the media is overwhelmingly unsympathetic toward them. And unlike the Ukrainian's struggle, where our government has sent military aid, in the Israeli-Gaza conflict, we're sending military aid to the stronger of the two forces. It's a sad time for humanity right now. And IMHO, it will be a source of shame for us, when we failed to live up to the beacon of light for liberty in the world. We're just bullies and we're supporting bullies. Shame. Shame. Shame.

Bri is wrong in many of the things she stated, Israel does not control water and power to Gaza, Israel only supplies a small percentage of power and water. Gaza's infrastructure is 7nder the control of Hamas, which despite the billions in aid it has received each year have done little expand and improve water and power networks or infrastructure. The UN through unwra improved the water supply network but Hamas dug up much of it to use the pipework to construct missiles.

Or that Gaza had a functioning airport and sea port, until they decided to attack Israel less than a year after gaining (at least some level of) autonomy. Also, that South Africans did eventually resort to violence to resist apartheid, but, did negotiate peacefully and earnestly in one of the least violent transitions of power ever. If Palestinians were anything like South Africans, they would have made a deal back in 1948 and that could have been the end of the problem.

Robbie's comparisons to Japan and Germany under US and Allied attacks is not apropos bc the ENTIRE point of the UN, the UN Charter, the UN Declaration on Human Rights, and much of the rest of the architecture of int'l law today came about BECAUSE of the horrors of two world wars and a collective decision to make it clear that civilians are never a legitimate target and conquest of territory by war is never legitimate. I highly recommend the book, The Internationalists, for a good overview of this history.
It's not even remotely comparable to Germany in WW2. The big difference is CAPACITY. Germany had the power to take over Europe, while the people of Gaza who are not even a state, have 0 capacity to threaten Israel, let alone that they are a threat to the west like Israeli spokesperson would like us to believe.
