The newspaper advert said "Interesting and intelligent man searches a feelful and pretty girlfriend, between 40 and 50 years. I am 46 and have blue eyes. Call me" so you got most of it right anyway. "Gefühlsvoll" is a compound word of "feeling" and "full", so feelful is a really literal translation, there is probably a more poetic way to translate it.

As someone who is on a fixed income, and has dove down the rabbit hole of vintage fountain pens (I'm currently working on a selection of Esterbrook pens, as they tend to be more wallet friendly, and have 33 different possibilities for nibs) I doubt that this pen, no matter how awesome it is, will ever be in my price range. So some thoughts. I think you shouldn't worry about the price. Now a question, can your sponsors tell if I skip over the sponsored section? I don't care about hearing about squarespace, but would gladly spend the minute if it helps you get compensated for your content.

I don’t know if this is what he meant, but I feel similar where buying something that sounds fun or doing something that seems out of the norm gives me a mid life crisis feeling, even if I’m not old enough to have that specific kind of feeling. I draw, I play music, so this speaks to me in that way. But I got them COVID blues these days too, more than usual, so this felt like a good video to watch.
The term "unearth" is referring to "earth" as the ground. There are two definitions of "earth." There is "Earth," as the proper noun and name for our planet, and there is "earth" as the common noun that refers to the ground (of any planet). To unearth something means to bring something up from the ground. Therefore, an ancient Martian artifact and an Earth one would both be "unearthed" from their respective planets.
@@peter_draws Well, that's an interesting question because "earth" typically refers to soil. And, I'm sure as you know there's no soil on Mars, OR perhaps there may be because there is a very minor amount of water on mars? But, that brings us to the larger problem that there are two definitions of "unearth." You can say you unearthed something as you dug it up out of the ground, OR you can say you unearthed something, in the metaphorical sense, as you discovered something. *God, I hate English*
I love how humble and down to earth you are, some ppl hype up expensive product so much. And you saying you will always use your 35 dollar pen with more pleasure is such a breath of fresh air in the youtube world,. It makes me want to come back time and time again. It might sound weird but maybe rug making or using a plotter could be awesome. Make little stickers with your own art, and sell those on your website. That could be pretty nice ! Pls don't apologise for staying down to earth,. Merry Christmas.
My first custom order fountain pen was a great experience. It was so good being able to choose exactly what you want. I’m into calligraphy and I got a gorgeous custom nib that’s highly flexible and I know there’s no others like it. Life’s short man, you gotta experience things that you value.
Does it make anyone else insanely happy that Peter just exists somewhere in the world these days? You rock Petey.. also I think the pen costs more than my first car did 😆
I just bought my first >$500 pen myself this year. I think as long you budget for it, don't spend above your means, and don't go into much or any debt over it, where you put your personal spending money is entirely up to you. I... really want an urushi pen someday. Saving for one of those next likely.
@@MotlTheChasid I love my Pilot 823... probably not the best for drawing, but I love it for writing. A Pelikan M800 is also on my list of pens to save up for 🙂
Peter .. I remember following you draw 5-6 years ago, and such an inspiration you are! I really hope you have an amazing 2021! Your drawing got me really interested in art and drawing. It is amazing to see that you're still doing videos!
Ever appreciative of how absolutely human you are, thank you for all your content (including the content free podcasts), thank you for your exorbitant pen purchase and the resulting analysis, and here's hoping you get yourself out of your creative slump.
Its nice knowing i wasn't alone in this problem, i did the exact same thing; i bought a super crazy expensive urushi pen and couldn't find a reason to dislike it, but i never really enjoyed it and you explained the same thing i was going through. I've currently just been using a different pen and loving it and am now trying to sell off my expensive pen
1. You have found your true love pen. Anything after that is just icing on the cake. 2. A pen made of fancy material or finish is still a pen with fancy material or finish. Usually it does very little on how the pen performs. Things like feel, weight, balance etc can be done with alternate not so expensive materials.
I am so glad I stumbled across your channel. I’ve been watching you for a while and love your dry presentation. A lot of times I don’t know if you’re trying to be funny or just being normal and I’m cracking up. Keep up the good work.
I think most of us click because 'yay peter new vid' irrespective of the title haha :P What i found interesting is the influence the type of pen (directly or indirectly?) has on the way you draw! This looked very organic but also architectural in a miniature type of way? It made me remember the time you used a HUGE orange posca on a bathroom wall and how absolutely different that turned out, would be cool to see you draw on a larger scale sometimes!
It might not seem like the price is equal to the product, but the Creator hand makes them and Peter mentioned in the video the process of just soaking the lacquer and what not. then molding it and designing it takes a lot of time and effort including shipping and the price of tools and labor. art is expensive And a lot of people underestimate it. But I do understand this type of pen isn’t meant for everybody
@@alexdavis2564 I completely get all that, But, to me at least, hand made doesn’t automatically equal quality. The whole pen might be very well made and entirely worth the price it’s just that the engraving looks like someone who doesn’t do a lot of engraving did it.
That's a beautiful pen and someone made that and earned a decent wage on it. I love that you gave that pen a chance, even if you have already found your heart-pen.
Thank you once again. Can't wait to find out what you find distract yourself with. 😊 Life is a twisty path, and some of the rough patches last longer than others, but it's okay, it's temporary. You'll find new inspiration exactly when you do after the correct duration at precisely the time you do. ❤
It's strange. Everyone I know is currently in an inexplicable creativity slump - artists of every medium and caliber. Is this a phenomenon others are also experiencing right now?
It's called seasonal depression and it happens when the days are getting shorter. It likely also happens when people aren't getting consistent sleep because of when it gets dark and when it gets bright. 2020 had a lack of in-person social interaction and overwhelming amounts of negative news shown globally. So many lives were changed completely and utterly and many were lost to factors outside of their control. All of that means most people were probably already depressed and had seasonal depression on top of that this winter
I am also in the worst artistic slump I’ve ever experienced. With all the anxiety and chaos we have experienced in the past few years, I guess it’s no wonder we don’t feel right. I’m hoping it’s just a year of staying almost exclusively at home. I hope it isn’t permanent.
3D program tips: SketchUp has a free, basic version, but it is quite good at plotting out shapes, lines etc in some complexity if needed. I find this program quite intuitive personally so a good starter one to try out things in. I've also heard that Zbrush is great if you want to do more organic figures, but that one costs money. I've done some work in Blender and quite like it, it has a mix of standard shapes and organic ones, but I found it had a steep learning curve. Not sure with the new design of Blender that came out (was it last year?) , it might have made it easier to get a grip of it. Anyhow, best of luck trying out some 3D stuff, it is lots of fun for sure :)
I love you brother. You’re such a good soul. I can tell. Forgiveness is supreme... have faith in the potential of gold within men and women. “Soon as he said winter blues,” started rambling on about his “creative slump,” I started 🤣
something you've taught me is relax more and think less and the drawing draws itself as you flow with your feelings. the more iam relaxing and zoning out to enjoying the process not caring about it looking good just feeling good, the better my doodles turn out, thanks PETE
I was feeling those comments on the difference between people who play/collect. For me, and the videos that I put on my channel, I feel like the more “review/look at my new art supply” type of content gets more attention? I’d love to just draw things, but I’m nervous about whether or not I can really find an audience, rather than just accidentally making stuff that only I like... whereas I feel like reviews are more automatically geared towards other people. Don’t, know exactly, but keep doing what you do, Peter J. Draws. Your content is a huge inspiration to me!
I knew i won't win a MUJI from the giveaway so i ordered one myself, arrived 2 weeks ago, and i loved it so much that i'm starting a small collection of fountain pens ❤ So far i have the Mujii one, a Lamy Al-Star and a JinHao Shark :D Saving money for a Twisbi Eco. Thank you Peter, you did this to me after 3 years of watching all your videos :D
If a video or something doesn't feel comfortable, you don't "have" to finish it ... it's okay if you want to do something else ... At least I think so. Happy Holidays Peter, finding you was the best part of this 2020 💚
My newest "hobby" and source of inspiration is collecting and learning to play small strange instruments. Strange in the sense, not your typical school orchestra. The most recent addition is a nose flute, it's such a strange little thing, and when you figure out how to play it it's addictive to play.
I would be completely fine with you drawing only with an isograph. I think that being interesting doesn't stem from the pen you're currently drawing with, but from you as a person. Keep it up Peter, great drawing as always.
Thank you for posting this one despite your stated reluctance in the process. It made me want to rethink how I'd want my fountain pen journey to go, especially with regards to getting customs. For now, it's just bunkering down and making the most of all of them, samples and bottles included. I'm actually pretty jealous that you found your preferred tool for creation. My only qualm is "will I like this...? Or will it be just a step in a journey that might never end?" with regards to getting something that an artist had found and honed for themselves. Best with your curation of your collection as well! I find that actually creating sometime does ward off that purchasing itch. :)
Never feel bad about posting content, whether it’s better or worse than the previous stuff you could always see it as training. I can relate as I’m learning music production atm and it’s not easy to feel good about the tracks I make but I’ll always see something good in it that I liked. Keep it up!
You have already found your ideal drawing pen, the Isograph. Well done. I'm still buying pens in search for one that will suit me as well as the Isograph suits you. Maybe a Muji...
Same problem here I always end up finding some new pen I never heard about and hoping it will be better than whatever ive tried so far and well often enough they do some specific thing well enough that im happy with my purchase but I still havent found my ideal sketching pen.
Peter, just a thought...assuming your new pen allows this, have you considered swapping out the nib unit for something finer? I can't really tell from the video, but 0.35mm (your rOtring fave) is finer than a Western EF (extra fine, at 0.5mm) and a hair less fine than a Japanese EF (0.3mm). This gets a little more complicated as your Swiss manufacturer may be supplying Western nibs, but is very much aligned with Japanese pen making and as a result might favor the finer Japanese nib widths. Of course, none of this matters if the pen doesn't strike you as becoming a useful extension to boosting your creativity. Have a wonderful safe and joyful Christmas Season Peter, and many thanks for doing what you do.
Peter with a Rotring is a happy Peter, making a great piece of art. Excited to watch that anytime. I believe a great way to get of the covid blues is to take a seat and knock out a few episodes of Peter Peter Peter, just a suggestion.
The lesson I get from this is, as the Rolling Stones Put it, "You can't always get what you want, but sometimes you get what you need". Sometimes not even we know what we REALLY want so, then we get everything we thought we wanted and feel disappointed. I guess it then makes no sense to obsess over what we want and we should feel more appreciative towards what we already have.
The pleasure and excitement that one can experience from compulsive spending comes from the anticipation of acquiring something new. Often once the object is actually acquired and the novelty wears off, that dopamine rush goes away and one is only left with emptiness or regret. The desired object is often cast aside and the guilt of wasting money on something that you don't really use then kicks in. The quality of your art is not proportional to how much you spend on your working tools, instead it is tied into your mindset and creativity. If you are in a slump, feeling guilty or lacking self confidence, you might need to take a step back to observe yourself. Experiencing new things, getting out of your comfort zone, trying meditation or therapy, seeing new people or working out... These tasks require courage but they can also give you freedom. Allowing you to grow as a person, building your self confidence and finding new sources of inspiration.
peter I understand you, like yesterday my first isograph arrived and since the ink is floaing my pleasure of just doing lines is skyrocketing. Feels and sounds like using a magical feather, like day and night in comparison to the old plastic tip pens I'been using
ZBrush is what you are looking for. It is the most comprehensive 3D "drawing" (sculpting) tool. It is very much cursor and brush based and fairly intuitive. There is a free trial so go ahead and try it. Blender has a similar sculpting mode but is far from the main focus of that program. Still probably the best second choice for drawing in 3d space.
Hey Peter, I really enjoyed how different this video is and I'd love to see more like how you address the audience here. It's very raw but also nostalgic, like "Old Peter" vibes. Love. Happy new year.
If you can afford it then nothing wrong with treating yourself, especially if it's something you can use for work! Pen looks dope. Thanks for the vids this year and all the best in 2021!
i know how you feel about this pen. i LOVE the twsbi eco so much and i got this brass kaweco sport for like $50 more because i was like "Oh thats a sick pen and i already really like the og kaweco sport" but whenever i use the brass sport i always wish i was just drawing with a $20 twsbi eco
Pen buyer's remorse? I think it's a thing. The more pens you have used I think it becomes clear that the cost does not equate to the chance of a pen having the x factor, that happy coincidental alignment of perfect feedback, line width, ink flow, hand feel... all the good things that are different for most people and may be different for you on different days. A zero cost pen can be understood for what it is quite easily. A pen that you know you have invested in, both in cash, emotional angst at the specification or cost, expectation, this is YOUR pen before it land in your hands. This is a pen you need to embrace a relationship with to understand fully. Give it time. Yes, I have problems like this too and too many pens, you're right to say it won't stop you getting another, and another... Great video.
@Peter draws pen collecting is a fine thing. Also blender is a great 3D program to use. The interface can be intimidating but once you get adjusted to the process it’s rewarding.
I wanna encourage you to keep it up and the end of the artistic rutt will end soon! Love your work and love the pens! I got into fountain pens because of your videos. I love fountain pens more than any other type of pen now. Its awesome! Thanks Peter!

You rock Petey.. also I think the pen costs more than my first car did 😆
It does! I enjoy our chaotic neutral drawing teacher ☕
Yep! I was getting used to 2 vids a week and then nothing for 10 days....I was honestly getting a little tiny bit concerned because, COVID.
I just bought my first >$500 pen myself this year. I think as long you budget for it, don't spend above your means, and don't go into much or any debt over it, where you put your personal spending money is entirely up to you. I... really want an urushi pen someday. Saving for one of those next likely.
You are spot on. I just bought a pelikan M800, i save for a long time. $100 here, $25 there. Same with the Pilot 823.
@@MotlTheChasid I love my Pilot 823... probably not the best for drawing, but I love it for writing. A Pelikan M800 is also on my list of pens to save up for 🙂
"You collect stamps... but do you ever mail anything?" I laughed out loud. Nice video, Peter!
I really enjoyed your drawing this evening. Thanks for sharing Peter
Thank you
That sweater is great! Love it!
Peter, your calming voice makes me sleepy. The best voice ever
Now that we know your initials, we can now guess your full name. PJD stands for Peter James Draw.
*Draws
I think most of us click because 'yay peter new vid' irrespective of the title haha :P
What i found interesting is the influence the type of pen (directly or indirectly?) has on the way you draw! This looked very organic but also architectural in a miniature type of way?
It made me remember the time you used a HUGE orange posca on a bathroom wall and how absolutely different that turned out, would be cool to see you draw on a larger scale sometimes!
"
"I think most of us click because 'yay peter new vid'
I certainly do!
Hope you have a great Christmas, Peter 🤍
The quality of the initials on that cap does not look like what I’d expect for that price tag
Merry Christmas Peter 😊 Thanks for brightening up 2020 for me, a lot. Have fun, whatever you do xXx
That's a beautiful pen and someone made that and earned a decent wage on it. I love that you gave that pen a chance, even if you have already found your heart-pen.
Just order a really cool penshaped holder for ur isograph!!! Lol
Yeah maybe I can design and 3D print something
@@peter_draws that would be insanely cool!!!
As always, good quality material. Listening to you while draw-wing helps to get the lines flowing. Thanks Peter.
Thank you once again. Can't wait to find out what you find distract yourself with. 😊 Life is a twisty path, and some of the rough patches last longer than others, but it's okay, it's temporary. You'll find new inspiration exactly when you do after the correct duration at precisely the time you do. ❤
I’ve been using rapidographs since the late 70s I completely understand 😍 and I love the jewel tips I recently discovered through your channel.
This is completely reasonable, once I payed 500$ on a tooth pick. To each there own!
Omg was it made of gold?
Popcorn hulls run and hide when you pull out your $500 toothpick.
😂😂😂😂 👍
PAID, not payed.
@@fendranm2914 how about peeyd?
It's strange. Everyone I know is currently in an inexplicable creativity slump - artists of every medium and caliber. Is this a phenomenon others are also experiencing right now?
I’m actually really getting into quite a groove (I write, paint with watercolor, and bullet journal). December was HORRIBLE though.
@@Greennoob2 No kidding, bud. It's been a tough year.
I am also in the worst artistic slump I’ve ever experienced. With all the anxiety and chaos we have experienced in the past few years, I guess it’s no wonder we don’t feel right. I’m hoping it’s just a year of staying almost exclusively at home. I hope it isn’t permanent.
Peter, You are a professional artist and should own the finest tools of the trade.
Yes I have definitely had some of these same thoughts
You're so honest. It's rare these days. Keep sharing.
Haha, great work on that collection so far!
If a video or something doesn't feel comfortable, you don't "have" to finish it ... it's okay if you want to do something else ... At least I think so. Happy Holidays Peter, finding you was the best part of this 2020 💚
Your thoughts and the way your brain works is fascinating to me...
My newest "hobby" and source of inspiration is collecting and learning to play small strange instruments. Strange in the sense, not your typical school orchestra. The most recent addition is a nose flute, it's such a strange little thing, and when you figure out how to play it it's addictive to play.
They played those in the Philippines where I lived as a young child, my mom had one she could play some
@@peter_draws it's surprisingly tricky, I was first introduced to them in Sri Lanka last year from an old German dude. Fascinating instrument.
Always enjoy watching and listening Peter! Keep being you.
I so agree with you! I splurged on a high end fountain pen and still love the Rotring. Oh well, such is life.
Wow! I'm actually stunned Peter bought a Manu Propria. They are gorgeous!
I listen to your videos while drawing, and the off tangent progression between 19:23 - 20:10 actually broke my concentration from laughing
Let me just say that that satisfying *pop* from uncorking it, ALONE, was worth the $800. Good investing, Mr. Draws, keep it up
I would be completely fine with you drawing only with an isograph.
Merry christmas peter! Your channel has been a pleasent blessing ever since i first watched you grind your own ink. Thanks for being so authentic
Thanks for posting, Peter! Super happy you indulged on a completely customized pen 😋
It cost $800 but it supported an obviously skilled artist and you got other pleasures from it. Worth every cent
That would be very dangerous to my wallet ..
Everything is dangerous to wallets
How about a job?
Hello Peter! I hope your Christmas is great. And that your holiday blues get better.
Love the video, so glad I discovered your channel this year! One of the better things about 2020
I would love to see more oil painting videos.. being an oil painter myself
3:30 manu propria is latin, literally "by his own hand", it translate as "by hand", like made by hand
Have a wonderful safe and joyful Christmas Season Peter, and many thanks for doing what you do.
tachizawa holder with a g-pen nib, or a isograph are my favorite inking tools.
those 2 instruments feel so satisfying to use and draw lines with
Peter with a Rotring is a happy Peter, making a great piece of art. Excited to watch that anytime. I believe a great way to get of the covid blues is to take a seat and knock out a few episodes of Peter Peter Peter, just a suggestion.
Your pronunciation of the word "drawing" is perfection and puts me at ease. Thank you.
2:56 "gefühlsvoll" -> "gefühl" + "voll" -> full of feelings ~> sensitive/careful/emotional
*Voiceover* “In the next video, Peter marries his true love, the Rotring Isograph”
Next Video he finds out, how wounderfull writing with pens is and starts a new carrier. Viewers get sad.
Feels and sounds like using a magical feather, like day and night in comparison to the old plastic tip pens I'been using
This last sketch has some Howl’s Moving Castle vibes and I’m loving it.🤓
ZBrush is what you are looking for.
Peter, I honestly hope that you did not just read off the "Missing Persons" tab of the newspaper lololol
Sculptris is a great 3D modeling software, very organic and unstructured. It's an old program but don't be discouraged, I use it on my Windows 10 PC.
i know how you feel about this pen. i LOVE the twsbi eco so much and i got this brass kaweco sport for like $50 more because i was like "Oh thats a sick pen and i already really like the og kaweco sport" but whenever i use the brass sport i always wish i was just drawing with a $20 twsbi eco
I was indeed listening at the end of 2021. Your video was very relaxing 💜 Hope you have a wonderful new year!
I'm a writer. I spent that much on a NOS vintage IBM Model F keyboard, but I use a $25 Lenovo keyboard as my daily driver, so I can relate. Whatever gets you though the night, it's alright.
That stamp collecting bit was great. Reminds me of something Mitch Hedberg would come up with.
