The silver lining of Jack cutting Sonar is his run will now be very different than Charlie's. Banger of a game. And right there with Jack about being the true friend that lets you know when something's amiss, i.e., having your fly open, something in your teeth, and your areolas peeking out.

I was definitely not expecting her to be THAT down bad for him. Poor girl is clearly lonely. I like her and Robert's relationship a lot, it feels slower paced than Blazer's romance so far, and I love a good slow burn.
I like how they gave Golem a confident yet non-chalant kinda voice instead of the dumbed-down minion-y type voice like the sentient construct stereotype.
This game is so well written the only "superhero fatigue" that comes from the game is the heros being literally fatigued from their missions. It's honestly a clever choice to have the heros need to actually rest, makes them feel more human

Pretty clever of AdHoc to have their not-so-reformed villain and criminal characters sabotage and backstab each other to make their teammates look bad instead of improving themselves. Basically the “I don’t have to outrun the bear I just have to outrun you” approach so they aren’t the ones getting cut from the Phoenix Program.
Yeah he's a decent hero in the gameplay, but we literally see him start a fire then Sonar openly discusses how he gets all his points from starting fires and then putting them out, also just generally an unpleasant guy, at least Sonar is personable and Coupe is professional. Wish we could've been able to do something about him.

Man, I think the SDN is the dumbest run hero agency I’ve ever seen in media. They have a group of exclusively ex-villains and they’re legit like “hey they’re kinda bad at being hero’s so far. Let’s put them on a leaderboard, indirectly let them know they’re competing against one another, and then directly tell them the loser’s getting fired. I’m sure that won’t result in violent outbursts and constant sabotage. They’ll be so cooperative!” Like are they serious? And wasn’t the entire point of the phoenix program to rehabilitate these former villains and teach them how to re-enter society as good guys? So what are they doing with the one they fire? Are they really just shoving them out onto the street and going “I know you have no prospects and no idea how to function in society. And I know we promised we’d help you, but we decided you’re on your own now sucker. Just don’t go back to being a villain lol.” So they now just have a volatile, potentially dangerous person out on the street with inside knowledge of the SDN and its building, a reason for revenge, and 0 supervision. These guys are just BEGGING to be attacked and they’re making it way too easy.

Like if Blazer really wanted to motivate them and show seriousness she should have promoted whoever had the highest score not kicked out a villain back out all pissed and stuff. Positive reinforcement ALWAYS works better than punishment. That's like basic psychology 101. This is also why I lowkey don't trust Blazer. Like, girl, that's a stupid af move. Hopefully the developers did it so it's intentional (and not just for the plot) like it was somebody setting up the Z team to fail or to take down the SDN. iirc it says that anyone cut from the team is rearrested for their original crimes, and duly processed depending on what all they did. For example, Coupe would be sent to a maximum-security prison due to her being an assassin and literally *banned* in 5 or more countries, whereas Sonar is sent to federal prison since he's mostly guilty of embezzlement and drug-use.

A lot of them killed people, destroyed property and put the general populace in danger, and it wasn't until Mecha Man joined that any of them took reformation seriously. To let them walk free knowing what they've done and knowing they'll likely do it again, it just isn't worth the risk. Maybe there's some deeper behind-the-scene stuff, maybe their fate changes depending on their improvement, even just a reduced sentence? I don't know but I can understand why this is how it is in their world.

Royd is so accurate. I'm a local Hawaiian guy, and he is exactly how all the older poly guys sound. Every poly guy I have ever met will drop what they are doing to come help you lift shit. And they will lift couches without sweating, so the whole bit where Royd is helping Robert lift pieces of the suit is something I have lived irl when moving dorms. Mad respect to the devs for bringing on an actual local guy to voice him.

There’s a hidden dialogue option where you can tell Phanomaman “I can relate” and share your story. Later, when he asks if there’s someone else Blond Blazer could be in love with, a secret choice appears to tell him “I kissed her.” He then kisses you back to make it even. 10/10 scene.
I'm so worried that when Toxic said "ok babe, get out of there" he was talking to Invisigal(Invisibitch at the time) and she was the one who planted the bomb on Mecha Man's back without him noticing. It would make the relationship really awkward...
I think you're VERY on to something with this. the second episode stated she turned herself in "a few months ago" and the only stipulation was that no one could ask why. Robert was in his coma from the mecha man suit getting destroyed for 4 months👀. my radical theory is that she could maybe be Shrouds daughter, but I'm at least pretty positive that she was part of his gang. Also I think shroud was the one who designed the astral pulse and not roberts dad which is why he killed him and wanted it so bad, he built it and feels it was stolen from him.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if Invisigal is a double agent working with Shroud. Her recruitment story is a little too convenient, and her hiding in that conference room in the beginning couldn't have been a coincidence. She's either shadowing you or Blazer, possibly both of you. I wouldn't be surprised if there's a plot twist where Shroud turns out to be Robert's father or something, and he's been playing 4D chess against Blonde Blazer. It would also explain why the Astral Pulse disappeared.
If you kiss Blonde Blazer and then tell depressed Phenomeman about it in the parking lot, he will kiss you to verify you being a “bad kisser” and accept that you couldn’t have been the reason for the breakup

Flambeé is also the only one that has a 100% chance of accomplishing the call where a boy's balloon got stuck on a tree in episode 1. The game is surely hiding more of Flambeé's qualities than what he seems.

As someone that actually has a stutter, I was surprised when they pointed out that Waterboy didn't actually have a stutter. It was very apparent to me when I first heard it, he was being portrayed how stutterers are usually portrayed in media. Confidence issues, nervous all the time, unsure of what to say...none of these things actually contribute to real stuttering. They can make it worse, sure, but it's never the source of it. Pleasantly surprised that they pointed that out. Way too many things get that wrong.
I don't have too bad of a stutter but god is it bad sometimes… I have the stutter where you can't say a whole sentence, broken record-type. What I want to say: “Eat the donut” What is said instead: “Eat the, eat the, eat the-” “Here! Uh, eat theeeee….” Someone else has to snap me out of it. I know what I *want* to say I just can't get it out. It's frustrating because it's a wall I'm pounding on.
@Cornflakestheflake7755 stuttering isn't about having no guts it's not being able to say what you want to say because-at least in my case-my brain runs faster than how I can verbally react. (not all stuttering is caused like this) It's like the brain is your favorite movie with subtitles but the subtitles are moving faster than the speaking so there's an uncomfortable disconnect. You *want* things to align but that requires slowing something else down and it takes people a minute to edit those subtitles to fit the lip sync.

It's primarily a neurological thing where nerves play much less of a factor than people expect. LIke for me, I stutter simply by being aware that it's there. Whether I'm super nervous or completely calm, it doesn't affect how much I stutter.
I like that Robert is a chill af decent human being. That's what makes him a good hero to me, he inspires and helps not just because he has to but because he wants to and seems to actually care about people around him, it's just kinda refreshing to see that in a character considering how bleak everything irl is right now. I think the world could use more Roberts. Also like that he doesn't go out of his way to hurt people but doesn't let people push him around either. Perfect protagonist.

Hypothesis: from the line "We all know the astral pulse isn't really yours anyway", "It's the only part my dad didn't have a blueprint for", and Royd's observation about how Robert's father and grandfather don't seem like they had the scientific skillset to make the astral pulse, then it could be that the grandfather actually stole it from someone else - maybe Shroud? Not sure at all about the timeline here - Shroud was apparently in the same team as Robert's dad, not sure if his relationship with them went back as far as the 1st Mecha Man.
I'm calling it, Shroud is the inventor of the Astral Pulse. Toxic, one of Shroud's lackey's, specifically said that the Astral Pulse "isn't really yours anyway". At first you'd believe that it naturally belonged to Robert's father as the assumed creator, but with the newly discovered fact that Robert's father didn't have any schematics for the Astral Pulse and was more of an Engineer according to Royd and not a lab scientist. It would be one hell of a twist if Mecha Man Astral actually stole the Astral Pulse, which cultivated to the Shroud's descent into villainy. I can't wait to see more of Shroud in future episodes and see what makes the nemesis of Mecha Man.
This feels like it could definitely be the case. I'm very suspicious of Shroud not talking at all in the first episode, it made me think it isn't the original Shroud like they think and is actually someone Robert knows and would recognize, he could've also just not felt like talking though lol
Recovering the Astral Pulse doesn't really do much for a "descent to villainy," because if he was originally good-intentioned, it would make more sense for him to work with OG Mecha Man instead. Furthermore, if Shroud does have the schematics, then it would be very good legal evidence that his patented technology was stolen. He wouldn't even need to be so under-handed.
@jordanhunter3375 Since the Astral Pulse could be this universe's version of a Marvel Universe Arc Reactor, it is a possibility. We still have no idea of why Shroud became a villain in the first place, but because of his conflict with Mecha Man, it probably has something to do with the Astral Pulse and Robert's father.

Honestly I love this kind of content and you shouldn’t have to apologize for pausing because it’s the coolest hearing about the stuff behind the scenes and from people who actually worked on it
Exactly; when I played it myself, anytime a dialogue was a bit long during the dispatching sessions I would press Tab to pause the timers on all the calls, and let the dialogues play completely, because otherwise when you select or finish a call while another character is already talking you'll miss on some dialogue that might not trigger. So I loved everytime he paused, rather than talking over the dialogue and potentially missing something, especially with how good the writing and voice acting is in this game! It also is so cool to hear about the behind the scenes and what it was like to be part of this project!

invisigal is such a quick romance (not dating but already acknowledging the possibility) to already feel like it has chemistry, i like it a lot. and we know her feelings are sincere since we saw her perspective, unlike blonde blazer
I can’t get past the fact she hits Robert hard enough to draw blood because she’s “frustrated”. She already has a crush at that point. Someone who will hit you especially in the context of a relationship will do it again. Realistically, that’s not healthy. Also, she should’ve been scolded for the situation with Granny and the fact she got angry when she was is irritating enough on its own. She knows she messed up and is unwilling to hear it.
@BanditParker that's a good point, but this is a super-powered world and she is a former supervillain. most people are sturdier and recover easier. even robert who isn't a superhero takes some abuse and it's written as just another day rather than something life affecting. and spoilers: flambaé lost his fingers to mechaman but instead of permanently ruining their chances of any positive relationship an attempt is still made when honestly i could totally understand if he never wanted to be around the guy. i don't think this invalidates your points but just putting it in the context of the world things are rougher and everyone is just trying to survive. invisigal faces people with super strength on the daily so i could understand her being used to lashing out as hard as she can, regardless of what we think of it

Man, I think the SDN is the dumbest run hero agency I’ve ever seen in media.
They have a group of exclusively ex-villains and they’re legit like “hey they’re kinda bad at being hero’s so far. Let’s put them on a leaderboard, indirectly let them know they’re competing against one another, and then directly tell them the loser’s getting fired. I’m sure that won’t result in violent outbursts and constant sabotage. They’ll be so cooperative!” Like are they serious?
And wasn’t the entire point of the phoenix program to rehabilitate these former villains and teach them how to re-enter society as good guys? So what are they doing with the one they fire? Are they really just shoving them out onto the street and going “I know you have no prospects and no idea how to function in society. And I know we promised we’d help you, but we decided you’re on your own now sucker. Just don’t go back to being a villain lol.”
So they now just have a volatile, potentially dangerous person out on the street with inside knowledge of the SDN and its building, a reason for revenge, and 0 supervision. These guys are just BEGGING to be attacked and they’re making it way too easy.

Like if Blazer really wanted to motivate them and show seriousness she should have promoted whoever had the highest score not kicked out a villain back out all pissed and stuff. This is also why I lowkey don't trust Blazer. Like, girl, that's a stupid af move. Hopefully the developers did it so it's intentional (and not just for the plot) like it was somebody setting up the Z team to fail or to take down the SDN. iirc it says that anyone cut from the team is rearrested for their original crimes, and duly processed depending on what all they did. For example, Coupe would be sent to a maximum-security prison due to her being an assassin and literally *banned* in 5 or more countries, whereas Sonar is sent to federal prison since he's mostly guilty of embezzlement and drug-use.

A lot of them killed people, destroyed property and put the general populace in danger, and it wasn't until Mecha Man joined that any of them took reformation seriously. To let them walk free knowing what they've done and knowing they'll likely do it again, it just isn't worth the risk.
Maybe there's some deeper behind-the-scene stuff, maybe their fate changes depending on their improvement, even just a reduced sentence? I don't know but I can understand why this is how it is in their world.

And they will lift couches without sweating, so the whole bit where Royd is helping Robert lift pieces of the suit is something I have lived irl when moving dorms. I think you're VERY on to something with this. the second episode stated she turned herself in "a few months ago" and the only stipulation was that no one could ask why. Robert was in his coma from the mecha man suit getting destroyed for 4 months👀. my radical theory is that she could maybe be Shrouds daughter, but I'm at least pretty positive that she was part of his gang. Also I think shroud was the one who designed the astral pulse and not roberts dad which is why he killed him and wanted it so bad, he built it and feels it was stolen from him.

As someone that actually has a stutter, I was surprised when they pointed out that Waterboy didn't actually have a stutter. It was very apparent to me when I first heard it, he was being portrayed how stutterers are usually portrayed in media. Confidence issues, nervous all the time, unsure of what to say...none of these things actually contribute to real stuttering. They can make it worse, sure, but it's never the source of it. Pleasantly surprised that they pointed that out. Way too many things get that wrong.
Just curious, was Billy in IT portrayed well with a stutter? Because he seemed to have a spine despite stuttering.

It's like the brain is your favorite movie with subtitles but the subtitles are moving faster than the speaking so there's an uncomfortable disconnect. You *want* things to align but that requires slowing something else down and it takes people a minute to edit those subtitles to fit the lip sync.

It's primarily a neurological thing where nerves play much less of a factor than people expect. LIke for me, I stutter simply by being aware that it's there. Whether I'm super nervous or completely calm, it doesn't affect how much I stutter.
I like that Robert is a chill af decent human being. That's what makes him a good hero to me, he inspires and helps not just because he has to but because he wants to and seems to actually care about people around him, it's just kinda refreshing to see that in a character considering how bleak everything irl is right now. I think the world could use more Roberts. Also like that he doesn't go out of his way to hurt people but doesn't let people push him around either. Perfect protagonist.

Not sure at all about the timeline here - Shroud was apparently in the same team as Robert's dad, not sure if his relationship with them went back as far as the 1st Mecha Man.

I'm calling it, Shroud is the inventor of the Astral Pulse.
Toxic, one of Shroud's lackey's, specifically said that the Astral Pulse "isn't really yours anyway". At first you'd believe that it naturally belonged to Robert's father as the assumed creator, but with the newly discovered fact that Robert's father didn't have any schematics for the Astral Pulse and was more of an Engineer according to Royd and not a lab scientist. It would be one hell of a twist if Mecha Man Astral actually stole the Astral Pulse, which cultivated to the Shroud's descent into villainy. I can't wait to see more of Shroud in future episodes and see what makes the nemesis of Mecha Man.
This feels like it could definitely be the case. I'm very suspicious of Shroud not talking at all in the first episode, it made me think it isn't the original Shroud like they think and is actually someone Robert knows and would recognize, he could've also just not felt like talking though lol

Recovering the Astral Pulse doesn't really do much for a "descent to villainy," because if he was originally good-intentioned, it would make more sense for him to work with OG Mecha Man instead.

What if the Astral Pulse was a co-op project between Mecha Man and Shroud, but then MM took the credit?

We still have no idea of why Shroud became a villain in the first place, but because of his conflict with Mecha Man, it probably has something to do with the Astral Pulse and Robert's father.

Honestly I love this kind of content and you shouldn’t have to apologize for pausing because it’s the coolest hearing about the stuff behind the scenes and from people who actually worked on it
Exactly; when I played it myself, anytime a dialogue was a bit long during the dispatching sessions I would press Tab to pause the timers on all the calls, and let the dialogues play completely, because otherwise when you select or finish a call while another character is already talking you'll miss on some dialogue that might not trigger. So I loved everytime he paused, rather than talking over the dialogue and potentially missing something, especially with how good the writing and voice acting is in this game!
It also is so cool to hear about the behind the scenes and what it was like to be part of this project!

I can’t get past the fact she hits Robert hard enough to draw blood because she’s “frustrated”. She already has a crush at that point. Someone who will hit you especially in the context of a relationship will do it again. Realistically, that’s not healthy. Also, she should’ve been scolded for the situation with Granny and the fact she got angry when she was is irritating enough on its own. She knows she messed up and is unwilling to hear it.

i don't think this invalidates your points but just putting it in the context of the world things are rougher and everyone is just trying to survive. invisigal faces people with super strength on the daily so i could understand her being used to lashing out as hard as she can, regardless of what we think of it

@Jake-z1b1e Maybe but at the same time you get more time in general with visi as a whole and it's just the first 4 chapters they could up the amount but visi's seems more slow where blazers is more quick. It's different priorities for each character that fits their archetype
