In my opinion, Regional Center would be Bacolod followed by the 3 sattelite offices in Dumaguete, Kabankalan and Cadiz or Sagay
It was Executive Order 183 of Noy Aquino, merging 2 Negros provinces into one region. Then it was revoked by Duterte, punyemas na dmonyong yan, now made into law by PBBM

Welcome news for us Negrenses. For sure there are pros and cons to this new enactment but bottomline it does make a lot of sense for one island to be part of one region. Plus siquijor being much closer to Dumaguete.

JV, did you consider the more than 100k residents of Siquijor? This is an isolated island as well and Cebu is nearest to the island.
Siquijor has a long history of attachment to Negros Oriental being a sub province of the latter before it became a separate province. Besides, Siquijor is nearer Dumaguete than Cebu.

Negros is closer to Siquijor. Siquijor was part of Negros before it became a province. And yes, Siquijor ang nagrequest na gusto nilang sumali.
NIR deserves to be a separate province. We love our Negros Oriental brothers, we love Dumaguete & Bacolod Cities.
@@naniwa111 NO. Let me correct that. Not a single consultation or referendum was carried out here in Siquijor for the passage of NIR Act. Only Dumaguete is closer to Siquijor. The proposed regional capital is of course Bacolod since it is an HUC. That's an 8-hour land trip from Siquijor. Not to mention the language barrier and cultural differences.

Region VII - Central Visayas will then have only 2 provinces. Cebu and Bohol. Will they rename it to the CeBoo Region?

So indi na western visayas? Kag central visayas? Ok. How about ang dialect nga gap? Negrense and Negrosanons are hiligaynon speaking, and oriental are Cebuano speakers.
Being from Bacolod both Hiligaynon and Cebuano speakers here can understand each other fine. Also, Negros Occidental has areas that are primarily speaking in Cebuano and there are no big issues stemming from this type of concern.

There is already an understanding that both Bacolod and Dumaguete Cities will divide among the two cities the regional offices. Bacolod will host DA, DAR, DENR, DSWD, DOH, DND, DHSUD, PNP while Dumaguete will host DOF, DBM, NEDA, DTI, DEPED, DPWH, DOT, TESDA, CHED, COMELEC. If we are to look at how it is distributed, Negros Oriental is at an advantage here because all those agencies that support economic activities are with them.
