We had a lot of luck qualifying against 10 men but still only managing one goal.far from elite.
I hate this narrative. Did you even watch the games? Those games were so over the top ridiculously physical and dirty - more like an NFL game than a football match with players being tackled, head butted, and legs almost broken. Both Peru and Chile knew they had to slow the game down and grind Canada cuz they couldn’t match the pace. When the game was more about football (see Venezuela, Argentina and Uruguay matches) it was visible how much progress this team has made. Elite? No. But “a lot of luck qualifying”? That’s laughable. If played with even half decent refs those matches would’ve been over in the first half.
