Super cute. I would recommend reinforcing the rubber bands with twine or string tied around it. The rubber bands will desintegrate over time and you can have a mess. Speaking from experience lol.
Hi 👋I'm new here and have subscribed to your channel today, I love your crafts and looking forward to seeing all your other videos, thank you for sharing your God given gifts with us all, God bless you abundantly in all things and much love from me too! 🙏😘🥰❤
Fyi: you can coffee or tea stain it. That's how I faux antique my white papers. I'm sure it'll work on raffia. Your gnome turned out soo adorable! I love it!!! Tfs GOD Bless
He is so cute. Gonna make a few of these. Don’t have the skirt raffia but I will figure it out. You poor thing I think you need some Sharper scissors.💜
Thank you! I haven’t ever made a beard with regular raffia. It might work or it might be a bit too stringy. I’ll have to try it out sometime and see how it compares. And yes, I definitely need sharper scissors lol
Oh my goodness, he's absolutely adorable!! Definitely the cutest gnome I have seen on youtube, and I've seen a lot, lol! I will definitely be making him! I was trying to think of what I could do different to make two and have one be female. Just not sure how I could make her look like a girl. This is the first video I have seen on your channel and I will definitely be watching more!
Thanks so much! I think the ol’ pigtail trick would probably do it. And I think this raffia could be braided if you wanted her pigtails braided because it’s all the same length.
I have actual straw that I'm gonna try and leave it blonde. Thanks for the idea. Also, you could brush your entire piece with concrete/mortar and make an actual garden gnome but you would have to paint it and seal it to go outside.
You definitely could! If you bundled the raffia together then glued it up in the hat that would definitely be a lot faster than the way I did it 😊 that’s a good idea
Hi Carolyn, I really, really love your scarecrow gnome. He's awesome! I watched with avid interest as you built him up from bits of this and that. I thought your idea to colour the raffia was a good one, but I think perhaps ink, or food colouring would have coloured it more deeply? However, it came out wonderfully and looked old and slightly dirty which is the scarecrow vibe, so all's well that ends well. I am new to your channel and have subbed to you. Ty for a lovely video.
I like the idea but would be concerned about bugs/pests in the lentils and especially if you planned to store for the next season. For that reason, I think I would use sand.
You can absolutely use whatever you’re comfortable with 😊 I haven’t had any issues with pests but I completely understand your concern. Thank you for watching!
Yes that dropcloth is kind of old, I’ve used it a couple of times for painting and I’ve washed it a time or two. Washing it should soften it up. And thank you 😊
I haven’t had any issues with that but I suppose if it was kept in a very humid/wet room, it might. You could always use plastic beads instead that way you wouldn’t have to worry about it. Thank you so much for watching! 😊
Using food such as beans, lentils , rice will draw bugs to anything like ghosts, snowman and gnomes. Don’t use cotton either, bugs will make nests and lay eggs. Use rocks or glass ovals that you get at the dollar stores.
So very cute! Since when you put the hat on, it was out of camera site. Did you put the paper in or leave it out? Those are some old scissors, someone must be good at sharpening scissors. I think I have a pair like them in my grandma's old treasures.
Thank you for sharing your video I really liked it I just wish you'd make a little faster you're talking and the beginning could you put supplies needed that be better
When I made this video I was still very new at RUclips, filming, and editing. No one is perfect as a beginner. But thank you for the feedback. I put the supply lists in the description box of my videos 😊
Thank you 😊 I haven’t had any issues with the lentils but everyone should definitely use a filler that they’re comfortable with, some plastic beads would work well.
I use rice and no problems. I freeze the rice for 48 hrs. before I use it. I've had no problems with bugs or mice and have had some of my gnomes for over 2 years.
The Pumpkins Though! Mind! Blown!
Thank you 😊
Super cute. I would recommend reinforcing the rubber bands with twine or string tied around it. The rubber bands will desintegrate over time and you can have a mess. Speaking from experience lol.
Thanks for the tip! 🙂

@@CraftClassy you're so wlcm. Thank you for sharing
Tip: use coffee or tea instead to stain raffia. It is a type of fabric and they stain better using those items.
I’m going to give that a try 😊 Thank you!
And less mess too great idea I've heard of using coffee or tea many times
Coffee works great
Oh my gosh how cute!! I'm excited to make one of my own now! 😍

Braid raffia put down sides ,no beard
I have actual straw that I'm gonna try and leave it blonde. Thanks for the idea. Also, you could brush your entire piece with concrete/mortar and make an actual garden gnome but you would have to paint it and seal it to go outside.
That’ll look great! I’ve been wanting to try working with concrete for a while. So many craft ideas, so little time 😁 thanks for watching!
@@CraftClassy I know the feeling.
You could use a tea bag or coffee grounds to give a more natural color.
I’ll have to give that a try 😊 thank you
Cute little guy!
Thanks! 😊
That was SO cute!!!!!
Thank you! 😊
Very nice job.❤️
Thank you 😊
Very cute I am so doing one of these.
Absolutely adorable. Can’t wait to try it.
I would use beads for the hands and feet but he is so cute!
You definitely could! 😊 thank you
That is adorable. Love it
Thank you 😊
You might try dying the raffia with coffee or tea instead of paint. It worked for macrame cord, but not sure about that plasticy hula skirt...
Yeah maybe that type of raffia is the problem. I’ve tried coffee but maybe I just watered it down too much. Thanks for the tips! 😊
So adorable!
Thank you 😊
Sooo cute!!
Thank you! 🙂
I will try 2 make 1. Thank u
Glad you like it 😊
So adorable 🥰I love this ❣❤
Thank you! 😊
Gotta make me one pronto! Love him❤️🍁❤️
He was fun to make! Thank you!
I love him!!! 💙
Thank you 😊
He is so cute. Just a suggestion couldn't you glue the raffia into the tip of the hat when you are gluing the hat to begin with. Will be making one.
You definitely could! If you bundled the raffia together then glued it up in the hat that would definitely be a lot faster than the way I did it 😊 that’s a good idea
LOVE IT!!!! SO ADORABLE!!!
Thank you 😊

Cute! 🧡🖤
Thanks! 😊
Did you wash the drop cloth? It doesn't look really stiff? I'm having trouble making the hat. Everything else looks great.
Yes that dropcloth is kind of old, I’ve used it a couple of times for painting and I’ve washed it a time or two. Washing it should soften it up. And thank you 😊
@@CraftClassy Thank you!!! Hopefully washing it will do the trick.
Que desmadre pero me gusto
I am definitely a messy crafter 😂 Gracias
@@CraftClassy pero haces cosas muy bonitas
Cute!
Thank you 😊
will the lentals get moldy?
I haven’t had any issues with that but I suppose if it was kept in a very humid/wet room, it might. You could always use plastic beads instead that way you wouldn’t have to worry about it. Thank you so much for watching! 😊

I like using the lentils but everyone should definitely use what they’re comfortable with. Thank you for the tip!
What did u use to fill the bottom of the sock with?
I used lentils but you could also use rice or anything that’s small like beads.
That is so cute❤
Thank you 😊
So very cute! Since when you put the hat on, it was out of camera site. Did you put the paper in or leave it out?
Those are some old scissors, someone must be good at sharpening scissors. I think I have a pair like them in my grandma's old treasures.
Thanks! I didn’t stuff the hat. I wanted it to be able to flop over. But there was some excess sock sticking up that I did leave in there. 😊
@@CraftClassy thank you for the info. It's so cute!
you could use tea and it would probably dye the raffia much better.
Yes I think I will try that next time :-) thanks for the tip!
Cute
Thanks!
Tooo cute. Loved this 😍😍😍
You could have dyed the raffia with tea or coffee!
That’s a great idea! I will definitely try that next time :-)
Very cute, the perfect addition to Fall decor. I have to try making him! Did you also make the pumpkins on either side of him in the parting shots?
Thank you! No I didn’t make those pumpkins. Those are actually from Dollar Tree. They started selling those wood-look pumpkins this year 😊
what fabric did you use for the hat? It's so nice and floppy which looks perfect for a scarecrow hat!. The grass skirt beard is genius! So cute
It’s from a canvas drop cloth. They sell them at Walmart, Home Depot, and other places that sell painting supplies 😊
Tea would have dyed the raffia . The stronger u make the tea darker it gets or use black peko tea
I’ll give that a try 😊 thank you
Try soaking in coffee or tea
Thank you 😊
Wow, you need a bigger , better pair of scissors! The gnome is so cute !!
😂 you’re not the first person to tell me that, I definitely do. And thank you! 😊
I use rice
😱
❤️ the gnome. You need better scissors.
Dye it with black coffee
I will give coffee a try 😊 thanks!
You
New subbie 🥰 wanted to show some love. I also do diys n haul videos ♥️♥️♥️
Thank you! Your channel is awesome, love the Santa milk and cookies!
Coffee or tea to stain your raffia would have been more effective

😂 yes I do
He's adorable now he needs a girlfriend.
Yes that would be cute!
