This is great but still that same problem of sluggishness when you start getting poly build up. I know you can do what's described, but I don't want to keep switching back and forth between bounding box mode. It would be great if layout and modeler could use the gpu rather than cpu.
I have never really tried that. I think there is a older tutorial on the net somewhere what using the spray point option in modeller then you attached the instance to the points.
Looks great. I wonder if you can use 3d models or textures from quixel and instance those instead?

Thanx for the tutorial, one remark though: you do NOT want to vertically align your trees and plants to the normals of your terrain! Trees and plants grow straight upwards, not in all sorts of angles like in your example...
I hope they bring the software to the glory days, they have several years to compensate but this guys can do it
this is a god send

3:28.....you can select all the items and change the setting on them all at once...how long you been using LW? Imagine doing that for 50 items....🤣
Would it also be possible to add instances of trees with instantiated leaves?

Hi Andre, yes, this is true. In some cases using the normals will be useful, but in this case, your right mate. Thanks.
Do they offer an Indie license or educational version?
Yes, educational license is free
Pretty much puts Vue out of business. Just need to figure out an easy way for animating wind blowing the leaves.
You can use weight map and deform them with a turbulence map to animate the leaves…
