  • Blown amp channel on Marantz SR-5003. My frustration on full display. Originally recorded about 2010. At the time Marantz' national service manager asked me to take it down. He was a pretty good guy, so I did. Since then he's been let go, and Marantz has shit-canned almost all their authorized service centers. If they could just make an HDMI board that worked, they would not be hemorrhaging cash.

    I'm sorry to have to go through this but gone is the good old days of high-end stereo equipment like Fisher and Sansui old style pioneer Nakamichi all the old favorites make them like that anymore they try to make them it's cheap as possible that's why it's a throw away world so don't let yourself get frustrated I've done that same job that you're doing right now for many years and I'm retired but I still once in awhile repair vintage equipment and I enjoy it

    I have a Marantz 8000, that I replaced the output relays. They go bad over time. But, now I have an issue that one side speaker outputs go out when pressing on the boards. I cleaned all pins and sockets of the parallel boards to the main. Must be some bad solder joints I hope. Do you see these have bad solder joints on the sockets maybe???

    Servicing a receiver like that would be as you said like Dog shit. There would have been more language if it was me. It would add to the labor charge just to take it down and put it back together again.

    There's 0 active cooling in this turkey + several horizontally stacked PCB's a-cooking. Without any activity the HDMI pcb gets nice and warm. I wonder why these pcb's go loopy detecting 'no data', huh? After watching this video, I wonder if the authorized service centers actually dumped Marantz.

    Hi. I have a denon avr3313 and the 1.6a fuse at the power board blow on its own during idle. No sign of problem before the fuse blowing. What problem could it be? I visually inspect it and found a blown 201k capacitor

      Just requires actual troubleshooting. Could be power supply related - could be a bad IC chip.

    What are you probing to test for a blown channel?

    • @mdzacharias
      @mdzacharias  7 лет назад +1

      I was probing between each amplifier output (the emitter resistor for each channel is a convenient test point) and chassis ground.

    it's just one more comment if you can't deal with doing this stop doing warranty work cuz you know it does not pay that much if you can get away from it then do it if not

      Yeah - this video is about six years old. I retired and closed the shop last September. I pulled the video for a long time but another viewer got me to re-post. I was having a bad day when I recorded this! I've been considering doing a couple new videos, though.

      @@mdzacharias that's too pity you retired and closed the shop, people who can repair AMP are very clever with today's Amp they are inbuild many IC chips hard to understand now the Amp I have got is SR6003 power on but no sound out even with headphone plugged in, many places refuse to repair it because it is a piece of shit design.
