“Quiet people have the loudest minds”. A saying that I think applies deeply to the most tragic character in Attack On Titan: Bertholdt Hoover. And I’m not only referring to his personality, but also his role as a character. A question I like to ask fans of Attack On Titan is: “How did you feel when you watched Bertholdt’s death scene in Season 3?” The answers I get range from “I was relieved because he deserved it for all the pain and innocent deaths he caused” to “I felt bad for him because he was forced to do what he did and he didn’t deserve it”.
I found it quite poetic that a seemingly quiet and secondary character like Bertolt could induce such strong polar opposite emotions. As I dived deeper and deeper into his character, I discovered that there was so much more to Bertolt’s character than meets the eye. A gentle reminder to not judge a book by its cover and today, I would like to open the book of Bertholdt Hoover with all of you.

I've always sympathized with Berthold in many ways. You raised some very great points in this one. I particularly think the way you reversed Berthold and Rainer in terms of the strong and weak dynamic was an angle I never thought of before.

Great video, he was my favourite character right from the start when I started reading the Manga in 2012/13.
Just a quick mention about the MANGA SPOILER ending of this video.
Right at the end Bertolt ended up fighting for Armin and Annie etc. after Armin had met him in paths. So I wouldn’t say it symbolises him as a war machine there. He held Armin, Ksaver, Grisha and Kruger all together. I feel this was more of a depiction of him regaining autonomy and individuality rather than just fighting?

As per tragic character for me it's reiner I don't even like him it's just that for a guy who has armour Titan he is so broken I feel just let him die yams let him die
