Hello Lone Fox Fam, today I have some sad news to share about my landlord Roger. Many of you really loved seeing him in my "Landlord reacts to my apartment makeover" video and I wanted to share his passing with you as well. On a more positive note, the floors have been sanded down in the apartment and the window trim got the perfect coat of stain!

I absolutely agree. My background is working in elder law and one of the saddest things I have observed is how invisible elderly people have become in our society. It is so hurtful to have lived fabulously interesting lives and then be reduced to someone no longer included in important events. The kindness shown to Roger, made him come alive, and gave him precious moments of inclusion. A lesson learned. Let's all keep passing it on.

So Sorry to hear of Roger's passing. Was so looking forward to seeing you do a little makeover for him in his place. It was touching how appreciative he was of all you did at your place. I do have one little tip to help you lighten up some of those pet urine stains on your hardwoods. Grab a few jugs of hydrogen peroxide and some fairly sturdy textured paper towels. (I prefer the Viva paper towels for this.) Tear off strips of the towels and roll them up into varying sized twists (much like Marijuana joints....sorry, but that's what they look like!) Lay them in a shallow tray or old dinner plate and pour just enough peroxide in the tray to saturate them, then lay them on the dark places on the floor, kind of going along with what should be the lighter parts of the woods grain in a woodgrain pattern. I found it best to do this right before I left from working in the space for the day, then left them overnight. Next day, I'd pick them up and see how much lightening had occurred, then retreat any darker ones again before I left (Darker stains might take 3-4 days of this, but you'll be coming and going anyway as you work.) I've been able to totally remove lighter stains doing this, and make most of the medium to dark ones much less noticeable, since you're basically bleaching with the arrangement of the little strips to match the pattern of the wood. This should work pretty well since you plan to go medium dark on your stain anyway. Please post pics of your results if you try this. I'd love to see them. (I've had pretty decent results with this doing it right through an existing finish. Just be sure to get just the straps wet...not let a puddle of peroxide form.)

Hi Drew! THANK YOU for the update about Roger! 😇❤
It was SO kind of you to share part of his journey w/you, w/us! 😀
The VERY FIRST video that I saw of your channel, was when you introduced Roger to your "makeover" of your apartment.
It not only gave us joy to see the makeover, but TOOK OUR BREATH AWAY to see how you gave that precious man, more sparkle in his eyes! 🥰🥰🥰🥰THANK YOU for being YOU!
RIP dear Roger. 💝 Peace and kindness to his family during this challenging time.
    Love and hugs - ALWAYS!
    Be well!

Roger was a testament to how positivity and kindness can go such a long way to touch so many people. We may not have known him well, but the glimpse of him we all saw infused us with happiness and warmth. The day before that video was posted, my 100 year old grandmother had passed away suddenly. Watching the video made me feel happiness in a time of great loss. I hope his family is able to find the same, and I am sending them my deepest condolences. RIP Roger

You could just tell what an encouraging and joyful person Roger was. And you were so lucky to have him as your landlord. Most people would not have given you free rein to do whatever you wanted to. His happiness at seeing all that you had done was a highlight of my day when I watched the video. Rest in peace, Roger. The world is a lesser place without you.

I renovated a house that had a lot of pee stains on the hardwood floors because the previous owners bred pitbulls. So to get the pee stains out we used a water stain remover for log cabins. A mistake I made when staining floors for the first time was using a water-based stainer and sealer so every time something fell on the floors it would leave a little watermark. I was suggest getting an oil base stain and sealer. For that small Gap at the door you can use a wooden threshold or reducer piece if they are two different levels.
