I love the no nonsense approach, instead of the manufactured soap opera that other shows go for. Just all about the cars and ZERO drama, as it should be. Love it. 👍
Yeah Nick's Garage show is just like the cars he works on. Simple no nonsense and no drama like 700 miles of computer controlled wiring, just cars as they should be.
1970 , same year of the Cuda and Challenger I was working part time at a Shell Station on Rte. 22 in N.J.. We used to get Chargers , Challengers and a Cuda in for a fill up. I miss my Newport , had to sell it last year due to health problems.
I was coming off the highway back in the middle 80s and there was a Tor red 70 Challenger RT in front of me waiting for the traffic to get out on the street. He gassed it to get in front of another car coming off the offramp to get on the street and although I didn't hear anything from the RT, but I saw two black marks on the road from the rear end as he goosed it a little because the car on the street in front of us wasn't letting him go. He wasn't even trying to smoke the tires but this car had so much power it easily lit up the tires without a sound or the driver even trying! I can't imagine how fast that RT Challenger really was, but I definitely know it was a beast!😲👍 Thanks again guys.
What a gorgeous Cuda. That's one of my favorite cars of all time. A friend of mine had one when we were kids. '70 Plymouth Cuda, Yellow with black racing stripes and black interior. We cruised the heck out of that car. I rode shot gun. This brought back some very fond memories. I really enjoyed this video.
Nick, you're such a humble guy. I find it very heartwarming that people from all walks send you random gifts. Then you take the time to showcase them and thank everybody. I'm a Mopar guy as well so I take a lot of pleasure watching your videos.
Thank you Nick for always posting! 26 from TN here and enjoy watching every episode, first car is a 1975 Dodge Dart Sport with a big block under the hood now.. Jealous of how many gems you get to put your touch on, keep up the great work! Also note in watching threw this entire episode you just helped me solve a very similar noise i have after decking the bottom end 1978 400 and the heads from a 1971 440. I had no idea about the shim on the rocker arms trick. Thank you again for your priceless knowledge Nick!
Nick's chuckle is priceless. This is the first channel I subscribed to. It would be a privlidge to work with Nick, George, Manny, Shad and all the rest.❤
Nothin meaner lookin than a Black "70" Cuda coming down the street ass in the air over top of some M/T street tires sticking out the sides and the sound of the cam rumbling through some short dumps, made the hair on your neck stand up.
George, your 6 Pack / 6 Barrel Carb Cam is at it again & working just grand !!! Love the camera angles you get and way you film . Great job and Nicks Garage is the Best !!!!!!!
Been watchword years and let's just stop to acknowledge everyone behind the scenes. Your production quality and music lay over is much improved Nick's garage
I started my 440 with a 4 bbl. Went great. Swapped the 6 barrel on and tightened a few gas leaks. She is dry and tight. It will still be a bit before the road test comes. But she fires right up and lopes at idle. A 484 purple shaft will do that. I hope my road test for my 70 GTX goes as well as this Cuda’s did. Thanks for the ride Nick.
Nick i just watched a Car auction and a 1970 'Cuda 440 Engine same color as this one sale for $2.000.000 dollars....So these cars just had a BIG leap in price of the 60's 70's muscle Cars....Thanks Nick & George..... Shoe🇺🇸
Years ago I built the 440 six pack with a 871 blower. Insisted on keeping it 3 2bbl. Nightmare to get the carbs and tuning right but definitely got plenty of attention
WOW Nick she runs good buddy... MATHEW is a very lucky guy to have someone SPECIAL at what he does for so many years to make his CUDA perform like a 440 back in the day.... NICK I still say your the 440 KING 👑👑... Thank you Nick for your time and how the CUDA performed ... George great editing on the video for Nick and the MICS sounds great too.. Keep them charged George!!!! LOL 😂🤣 Nick have a safe 2 weeks and THANK YOU again buddy... FROM YOUR FRIEND THE BANDIT AKA BOB FROM ILLINOIS. Oh one more thing ((( I hope your PARTY went well and you had plenty of fun and laughs Nick )))
I'm still in awe from last week's trouble shoot, with the 383 leaking oil past the rear main seal like it was a sieve. Somebody else rebuilt the engine, and tried 7 times to fix the leak, to no success. It took Nick a little while to find the problems, but it was something that I doubt anybody else watching his blog site would have caught. Two weeks before that, remember the carburetor problem on the left carb on his Chrysler 300J with the cross rams. Nobody would have guessed the problem was a carb jet spring that had too much tension. The guy is the ace's mechanic's ace mechanic. I wish my Jeep had an engine problem just so I could take it to Nick to be solved. And the comment needs to be made... that car has a serioiusly sweet sound. Double thumbs up on that exhaust.
Great show tonight, Nick. As soon as you started the 70'cuda, I knew what it was. I had a 70'cuda back in 77. Mine was white, and it had a 383 with a 4 speed and the Hurst pistol grip shifter. It had the fog/driving lights, factory ralley wheels, and a posi in the rear. I never did find out the gear ratio, but it would cruise at 65, no problem. It had the factory tachometer, but I don't remember the speedometer, if it was 150 or ???. Anyway, I had a lot of fun with my 'cuda, but my brother took it one day after I had just rebuilt the engine, I didn't know he did, and he hot rodded it to hard, way to hard, it had a terrible rod knock. Boy, was I mad.... I parked it for 6 months and ended up selling it for $500 bucks. A guy from California saw the ad for it and drove to Phoenix, Az, and bought it. It was sad to see it go. Well, that's my Plymouth 'Cuda story, and I'm sticking to it! Ha! Hope you are well and the family too. God bless you and your beautiful family, Nick. Take care.
Dr. Nick, glad that the issue with the Cuda 440 6 barrel was a small one, I do trust that your party will be a blast on June 3rd, wish I could be there, cheers.

The 1970 Cuda was my favorite. I bought my Roadrunner that same year. It's really irritating when you have rocker noise. I liked the way Nick uses the shimming to get the geometry right. Nick and I are getting old.....we're both repeating ourselves........
Yes, usually a lifter, but not always . A good tip for street and performance 440 375 -390 hp applications is the use of an aftermarket shaft mounted 8650 chromoly steel roller rocker arms. They weigh about the same as aluminum but are much stronger and of course much more durable for street and performance engines. For 1000 dollars it's good insurance against any failures related to the factory shaft mount rockers.
That was not the regular tick of a lifter , more clatter and rattling, and that is a rocker or spring, and spring usually doesn’t make noises like that.
@@dennis-nz5im Yes, a large percentage of Nick's subscribers are performance vehicle enthusiasts, not professional mechanics, or engine builders. Most have never been exposed to the less common valve train noises. This is why Nick is so popular. He never generalizes and rarely shoots from the hip.

The 'Cuda really stood out among the dreary white, grey, silver, and black cars of today. I told my wife last week that, if someone compared a photo of the Disneyland parking lot in 1970 with one from today, today's photo would appear to be in black-and-white. Cars -- and life -- used to be fun!
Hello Nick, you aught to write book with all your knowledge of power tuning cars, it is amazing to see someone like you resolve tuning problems, etc. You are the king.

WOW NICK! That '70 Cuda is like an airplane, man if it had wings I think it would FLY! These old classic Mopars ran like crazy. It just goes to show it doesn't really matter how much HP you have because at the end of the day,it's TORQUE that wins the race hands down. There's nothing like good old fashioned torque that a big block makes add to that a multiple set of properly tuned carburetters as is the case with engine. I'm sure the owner will once again obliterate many a competition at the stop light drag race in B.C. Nick no one IMO can make a Mopar engine run like you. You're certainly a gifted mechanic and your work definitely proves it. I've worked on a few these cars back in the day like yourself and let me tell you nothing runs like these good old fashioned muscle cars from Ford GM or Mopar.
This 440 has the perfect exhaust sound, the 6 Barrel is so sweet!!! Nick, you inspire my grand kids, they thought the motor noise was terminal. In an instant, the 4 cycle is starting to make sense to them, they understand the rockers. That was so Cool. The coat hanger is impressive 👍😃😃
Excellent. I always installed the lighter springs in the vacumn bowls either with the 4 speed or auto with a 3000 stall converter...worth trying the different springs to see which works best with you're particular set up. Love the 'Cuda 440+6. Very iconic car of our era..

We always like enjoying the ride with you Nick everytime. ❤
