You do know that outdoor sirens in Valley View, and in Dallas, etc. are meant to alert those who are outside, to seek shelter. It is expected that those already inside, will get altered by cell phone, TV, radio, computer, or a weather alert radio.
Just because it’s old doesn’t mean much, just needs some maintenance which it clearly has now gotten, they should probably add an extra siren if they can too, as well as get this thunderbolt siren wired up with a remote control so it can be activated remotely
Valley View VFD should definitely invest in having a maintenance company hook up a radio to the siren, so they can use a radio to activate it instead of putting themselves in potential danger to manually activate it.
The paint has absolutely nothing to do with if they maintained it or not. Maintenance is when people repair the insides of the siren, controls, radio; etc. Obviously if you want to, you can refurbish it to make it look better.
This is why most cities should look into upgrading to new 2001-130s or 508-128s extremely risky to be standing in a cage at the base of a siren especially when there is lightning around also would be safer to activate this from a central point at the county level at its Emergency Management Office

And fix the rotation

if you maintain your sirens (like every single moving part needs)
this stuff won’t happen 🤷♂️
exactly.
They need more and new sirens obviously. I hope they get an upgrade.
a full refurbishment is usually cheaper vs brand new
They don't work here in Chandler texas and the city doesn't even care to fix it.
you didn't maintain it, thats why it malfunctioned. look at the paint, that's how you can tell.
