OMG I am sobbing by the end. When the daughter has trouble saying "It's what mom would have wanted" and cocked her mouth to the side to try to stop her lips from quivering when you are about to cry. It's so real...
CHEVROLET did another commercial. This time, with a daughter driving her mother .Who appears to have some mental health issues. She seems to respond with remembering some good times of her youth
@@glennfrier7105 AMEN ... The family wagon was a '66 Impala 9 seat wagon, the same color as the commercial SS. Nothing special, just a 327 & powerglide -- but I LOVED that car. Dad gave to the oldest kid, her husband DESTROYED it working swap meets & odd jobs.
When Chevrolet was a work of art. My eyes get misty watching this. My momma bought a 67 impala. I learned to drive in that car. Then it became mine. Drove it till literally the year 2000. Hope to get another before my time here is through.
I watch this video every few months, just to feel something. It always makes me cry, in both sad and good ways. I've never seen another commercial like it. Damn good.
My parent had the same car but a good metallic color. They use to take my son who was very little for rides with the “Top Down” Grandma! As he would call for the covetable top to be lowered. Good memories. My parents are gone now, but when I see photos or an occasional restored ‘66 Chevy Impala Convertible, I get emotional. Loved that car! 💖
I swear I come back and watch this video each year during Christmas time as 2003 Christmas was the last one I spent with my Mother. She died 13 days later, and no matter how hard I try, I cry every time watching this.
I lost my dad from cancer 3 years ago I inherited his 1966 impala ss convertible with a 327 and powerglide transmission. A lot of memories when I was riding in it when I was growing up and me learning to drive in it . Need to do a full restoration on it but too many memories to give it up. Have 10 cars from 1937 to 1970 now but my dad and me used to work on the old cars together so it’s something I just can’t give up
This is good. This is the kind of stuff people need to see. Sad, happy, surprised, love, family, togetherness, lose, good memories, better times... There is so much here. Who ever did this deserves a big promotion and should be forced to do it forever! Just joking about being forced but damn, it is good. Really good.
This is like a scene out of a movie on an early morning. A guy walks out of his house and down to his barn. Goes inside and puts down a old Christmas wreath on a table and then walks over to something under a cover. He pulls it off and white what lies under the cover a 1966 Chevrolet impala convertible. He walks around the car and then opens the door and gets in and gazes around then he comes across a little photo of a lovely woman who turns out to be his late wife, then he is seen walking out of the barn, by his daughter standing near the front porch and she starts to feel a little emotion, then she is seen walking up to a automotive shop and is greeted by a gentleman and his friends and asks how she is doing and she says well things have been kind of tough for Dad and she says so I was thinking and wanted to one gentleman says your mom‘s car and then she says well. She taught me how to drive in that car. Then the guy turns to his buddies and says, are you up for some night work, then they are seen pushing the car out of the barn up onto a trailer, then the daughter distracts her father, by making a loud noise with the dishes but the dog is seeing barking at the men then the daughter and the guys are seen disassembling the car down and restoring it step-by-step, including a new paint job then, lastly a reprise of the opening scene the guy walks out to his barn. However, there is a surprise waiting for him when he walks into the barn. Suddenly he’s a little stunned, he sees the car, all originally restored back to factory condition like it came off the showroom floor, he walks around the car gets inside gazes around in the interior and then he puts the key in the ignition turns it and the 3:13 engine fires up the smile lits up his face Then he drives it out of the barn up to the house and his daughter gets in and he says thank you and she says it’s what mom would’ve wanted and both of them started have a few tears in their eyes and then he says this is the best Christmas gift ever then he and her are seeing driving off . This is definitely the definition of Chevy runs deep. Sometimes a car is more than a mode of transportation. It’s a member of the family.
When my Dad went to get the plates for my Moms car in 1966, he asked the lady at the DMV if he could look through the plates and pick them out. She said yes. He found PL 427 plates and brought them home. I still have that 1966 plate!
I once owned a 1959 Chevy Impala , 348 engine with factory 4- speed. In my mind, it is still just as vivid and beautiful, along with the girl I let go of so many years ago. I really do feel this man's emotion in the commerical, and can totally relate to it.
Great spot! (With Doc Brown’s voice). From the directing and editing points - I’d stay longer on his reaction when he sees the ready car before he smiles (he smiles right away without the long tasty beat of processing). It’s the moment we all have been anticipating for - his reaction. Arguably the most important part of the spot. And it literally lasted only for 1.5 seconds.
Awesome = seeing this having no idea to expect... it also brought a tear of joy ... on Christmas eve 2022 MERRY CHRISTMAS KEVIN .WITH SINCERE THANKS HAROLD
What I would do to have the money to get a 1964 Chevy Impala and restore exactly like my grandpas was back in the day and surprise him with it as a gift.
They're trying to sell a warm sentimental image of the Chevrolet brand and what it means (or used to mean) to people. I think the ad is beautiful and heart warming, but too many people today are mean and stupid to appreciate such an ad, or anything of beauty. Also, today's Chevrolet's (for MANY years now) have been expensive transportation appliances I can't imagine having any emotional connection to. Not just Chevy, nearly all vehicles across the board. Today, you'd have to be over 60 to have had such a bond with a car which is not most people.
@@bobpierce115 Ah... they're attempting to sell brand loyalty and not a particular product... that is really stupid in today's society using this type of messaging.
@@austin3789 Well, you posed the question, and feel my reply answered it pretty well. I also implied brand loyalty slightly differently by appealing and/or "'re-appealing" again to those whom they felt needed a reminder to get them back in their 'fold' again. It's very sad that things have degenerated to the point where this type of sentimental ad wouldn't be appreciated; that our culture is soooo far gone and f'd up as to not "get" or be moved by this type of ad. People today (sadly) have to have something screaming at them or using pyro-technics. We live in a time where everything's all over with, but few will say it out loud, but it's very obvious. it's also really an ad for a '66 Impala, only magnifying how far Chevrolet/GM has fallen from 6 decades ago, permanently.
It's a little annoying that it's almost impossible to find the names of the actors in these commercials. Like movie and tv show actors get named in credits and websites and these actors who do these commercials are all but invisible...
