Spiritual Happiness (Tapping Into the Soul’s Storehouse of Love, Peace, and Joy)

- “Why is it that some people are happy and others are not? What can we do to increase our inner happiness? Why should we try to be happy? How does our personal level of happiness affect others?”
These are some of the questions SRF nun Sister Preeti addresses in this talk given at the 2013 SRF World Convocation in Los Angeles. Sister Preeti explains: “Our guru, Paramahansa Yogananda, assures us that happiness is the birthright of every soul. Each one of us, without exception, has access to the wellspring of inner spiritual happiness.”
“Each mortal being has in his heart a terrible hunger for happiness, love, peace, joy,” Paramahansa Yogananda said. And Sister Preeti states, “That hunger is implanted in us by God as part of His beautiful divine plan. Its purpose is to help turn our consciousness away from the world - which we come to realize cannot satisfy us, cannot provide the inner happiness that we crave - and direct us toward God, the source of all happiness, the repository of all peace, and love, and joy.”

What a golden moment in our lives to listen to this satsang by a person who herself is a personification of pure and real happiness! My heart and mind bows to her with great respect and love for what she has wonderfully enlightened all of us in this session ! I feel as if i am a small child in the warmth of love of my mother! I felt more happy and contentended by just looking at her ! Every word was precious and chosen to fill our hearts and mind with love and infinite happiness ! Jai Guru everyone. Once at home depot a gentleman looked at me and said “Oh is that so?” Then after I turned the aisle I realized I was wearing a shirt that said “Happiness is a Choice”. So then i turned back to him and said “How else do you find it?” and he responded “If I knew I would run after it”. I could feel he was not happy by that answer. Thinking of the Masters giving me the strength to be loving (he needed it) and compassionate thus responded with a smile “Knock yourself out” in a soft tone sending him loving vibrations. He laughed but I could feel he was uplifted by that simple unexpected answer. It meant something. So happy for that experience. Thank you Master for letting us be instruments of your love.
