the reason why you don't hear chords anymore after a certain point is that the notes are being played so fast our ears can only register them as frequencies. for example the notes at the beginning are being played at 0.5 hz, then it doubles to 1 hz, 2 hz, 4 hz and so on. at around 32 hz you can start hearing a low rumbling noise - that's the frequency of the notes. Because our ability to perceive different notes is capped at around 20 hz, above that you can only hear buzzing.
