Very straightforward. Want to make my own custom length cables because the lengths I need are very in between the set of cables I can buy. Great video!
Thank you for this super clear and straightforward instruction! I have to fix up some sdi cables for my work because I always do maintenance on the rj45 cables so now I shall attempt this as well! I hope I succeed
Great video! Our church uses F connections and an adapter to BNC. Due to the cable companies investing into F connections there are some really good tools.
Great video, but a few recommendations to make the Kings work better for you: For connectors use Kings 2065-10-9 it is the correct connector for Belden 1694a. For stripping the cable make sure you have the lengths set appropriately: remove the jacket to 0.624", remove the shielding to 0.312" and expose 0.155" of the center conductor. For crimping use a single 0.42" crimp on the inner pin (in the video you just flatten it with the die alignment guide). The outer sleeve should get a single 0.275" crimp next to the connector leaving a small flare on the cable end to limit damage when the cable is bent near the connector.

Id just like to say that if an SDI cable has a hard pull on it, it's almost never preferable for the break to occur at the equipment it's connected to rather than the crimp itself. Re-crimping cost much less than the equipment it was connected to or a doctor's visit.
Never mentioned what kind of COAX to use. RG6 Quad would be my pick. But I'm new to SDI, so I could be wrong. RG6QS works great for sat hookups so it should be fine for SDI. Crimp connectors have never worked great for me. The hex crimp look to be more stable but those cheep 2 side scrimp I can pull apart, no problem. I've had best success with compression fit connections. I've used them with F connections successfully. And recently tried SDI and they work too.
God bless... I have a question about a Canon Xlr2 That I would like to use, but I don't what or what is a good video converter. There's to ways to pull video, rca and sdi and my switcher is hdmi input... Thanks in advance.
So I bought the tools you suggested, however the crimper isnt one I think will work. the smallest thing it will crimp is .256 which is much larger that than small pin
What Size Die do you use on that crimper? I purchased the crimper from a different website and the die that came with it does not come with the pin crimper
@@BallastMedia I need your suggestion on what is the maximum distance i can run only single passive HDMI cable. Can you share me any forum link. Hi Ballast, we want to put up a 1080p folback display being extended through Blackmagic SDI-HDMI adapters on both sides. Our coaxial cable is going to be 100m long. Will RG6 be able to support this?
There isn't an easy answer to that. It depends on what bandwidth ( eg resolution and frame rate, 3G/6G/12G, etc) that you are sending. Here is a helpful table to give you a general idea of how long you can run the cable: www.canford.co.uk/TechZone/Article/MaximumTransmissionDistances
Question. My church is getting ready to start live streaming our services and I'm facing a bit of a dilemma. We're using a dual camera setup and I was wondering if it would be best to run audio to a single camera and keep lip sync easy or run audio to the computer and adjust the settings in obs to regain lip sync. Also, if I run audio to a single camera, will I keep audio when I switch to camera 2?
That is an SD camera. You would need to convert the Composite video output to SDI with something like this (amzn.to/30XtZhB). But understand that you are just getting SD-SDI so it will still be SD resolution.
Hey awesome videos... you really help me out but do you know what causes my churches live stream audio to jump/skip during broadcasting? We use wirecast.
If I'm going to extend an HDMI over SDI with the Blackmagic microconverter do I need to buy the HDMI to SDI for the computer end and the SDI to HDMI on the projector end? Both ends have HDMI and not SDI.

Do you just have the one camera or multiple? Can you just run the camera's HDMI output to a video interface, like the AJA u-tap HDMI: amzn.to/2L6O5h1 and then use OBS software to stream live on facebook. Take a look at this video: ruclips.net/video/2fggKym43hs/видео.html

Yes, you want 6 over 59. 59 is thinner and less bandwidth/distance.

Hello, it is possible to use another brand of coaxial cable? Or it has to be Belden?
As long as it's called RG6 any brand should work.

And what about BNC Male to female connectors? Would love to see a video about that! 🙌🏻

The centre pin is incorrect, it should be flush with the dielectric.

If you can find a fiber solution that is cost effective, it should work fine.

Hello! How do you tell between 3g sdi, 6g sdi, and 12g sdi cable?
3G and 6G should be RG6 or 1694A coax cable. 12G requires a thicker different cable, it should be labeled as being 12G capable.
Oh ok, thanks so much so if I order bulk 1694A that should work with with our g6 Sdi set up!
