As a Celtic fan, I naturally love all your Celtic related videos and dare I say it, some from the blue side, but I also love your videos that give a little history to how and why a club was formed and the area where they play. I found this video fascinating at how the expansion of London has swallowed up villages and hamlets and of course their football clubs. Would have liked this video to have been longer,, or maybe you could do a video of all the other small football clubs that have been swelled up by London. A big thumbs up for this tho 👍
Thanks mate. I’ll definitely make more videos about the smaller London clubs soon 😄 I’ve got loads planned here over the course of the season. The game was 0-0 and not very exciting on the pitch sadly otherwise it would’ve been a bit longer. But there was enough to do and see pre game to make an interesting video. Thanks for watching!!!

One of the best club jersey I have ever seen, very friendly and welcoming fans, many people with families (even babies!) and dogs, good food right next to the pitch, so on, so forth. Up the Hamlet!

I think the current fan base just reflects how the area has changed in recent years. Definitely visit the den when you get a chance or fisher athletic another non league team in rotherhithe.
i am from Rochester NY in the States. We have a club in it's inaugural season called Flower City Union. The name is in reference to the lilac plants that our city has become known for to some degree. The kit colors are based on the colors of the flowers as well and are very close to the colors of Dulwich but lean towards a more purple hue. The club embraces similar values as Dulwich too but as they are such a new club it remains to be seen what the culture will develop into. Love your content Sam. Thank you for taking us places that we might never known about and, in my case, most likely will never get to see in person.
I'm back. Now you've got me rolling through my memories as a kid going to Holleder Stadium to see our NASL team the Lancers play. Holleder was a 20,000 seat u-shaped (American) football stadium that was home to Aquinas High School. It was named after Alumni Don Holleder who was killed in the Vietnam war. It was a spartan facility to say the least. If I am remembering correctly it was built of stone and fans would enter at field level, continue along the (pea gravel?)track that surrounded the field to their section where they would ascend a wooden staircase to the wooden bench seating that filled the stands. The East end of field level was reserved for maintenance buildings and medical staff. But supporters could stand on the track if they preferred where the only thing separating the players and fans was a fence made of woven wire and wooden slats. Many times my brothers and I would position ourselves behind the goal on the West end so we could rain insults down on the opposing keeper. I had the surreal experience of seeing Pele' play in that setting. The Lancers office would oversell the games against the Cosmos because the sales from those games would pretty much keep them afloat. Two memories: 1)While at Cosmos game the stadium announcer encouraging the fans that were already seated to "Squeeeeeeze!" together to make room for late-comers. 2) My brother's friend Tony breaking the the pole that held his giant blue and gold Lancers flag over his knee at the last home game before they dissolved.

As a Billericay fan it's sad that we don't get to go there this season after how bad we were last, hopefully we will be back next season as hamlet are a great club, they even got there record attendants against us losing 2-1
Nice video. Been there a few times for pre-season friendlies over the years, never thought about why they are called Hamlet. I am a bit surprised you didn't mention Peter Crouch previously played for them!
Ah, Dulwich Hamlet ! My mum and dad used to watch them regularly in the 50s after they moved to London and lived in Brixton (Hamlet!) having met In Bury, Lancs just after the war ... Back then and up until 1991 Dulwich played at their old ground which was right behind the end where you were standing in the first half and I think is now an open space with Sainsburys having bought the training ground to build a new store on (behind the current main stand) from the land owners at the time, who then built the stadium you watched a match at the other day. The old ground was a classic old school one with one big wooden grandstand and three huge banks of terraces plus the obligatory four tall floodlight pylons one in each corner - I went there a couple of times with BillericayTown in the 80s before it was demolished due to safety issues and the new ground built. ... I saw Peter Crouch play and score for Dulwich v Ricay in one of his six appearances for them in 2000 on loan from Spurs at the New Champion Hill. I have heard from fellow Billericay fans from the last couple of seasons that with the huge crowds Dulwich get and the very 'flat' nature of the standing areas, if they get 3,000 people there, 2,000 won't be able to see the pitch - but that doesn't worry them because most of those just go to look cool and talk poltics !! lol
