Anyone notice how Grian and Scott have so much in common in the first session? They both are former winners, soul bound to their partner from the series they won in. Both figured out who their soul mate was likely to be midway through the session, while their soul mate figured it out at the end with a test. They also stressed as their soul mates got into dangerous situations, almost getting them killed. Scott and Grian are the truest soul mates who aren't connected by health.

I can't decide which is funnier: Scott and Cleo figuring out who their soulmates are only to decide "actually, we're soul bound to each other now since you two abandoned us" or Grian finding out that he's soul bound with Scar and then not telling him for the entire episode. Scar getting distracted by everything and not being observant to anything else is so ADHD and I love it, as someone else with ADHD who also easily gets distracted.
Context for Ethos’s “Nooooo” is that I think Martin was talking to him earlier about how Joel would be the worst partner since he’s always trying to do the MLG water bucket drops.

It's an ADHD thing, when you're so focused on something that your brain says is important that you completely tune out everything else. Scar quite literally did not register all the obvious signs until Grian quite literally dragged him away from his distractions. Also having the recording show Scar everything he ignored when he's in a calmer state of mind was helpful to him.
This series looks like it's going to be great. But am I the only one who's disappointed that Lizzie and Mumbo aren't there? I know they had their valid reasons, but I feel like we're missing out on some great interactions with those two.

Martin and Cleo fighting was really entertaining. Both of them being aware of eachother's health, as well as not actually wanting to kill each other, made sure there are no worries like "oh no, what if one accidentally kills the other", and all that was left was pure enjoyment of the situation. And if they did end up killing each other, that would have been a funny chat.

I think the funniest thing I missed until several rewatches in is that you can literally hear Scott putting the pieces together at 1:15. Which isn’t that funny on its own, except that the Divorce Quartet’s soulmate reveals are at the end of the video, at which point Scott points out to Martin that he and Cleo had already narrowed it down to them by process of elimination.
But everyone forgets what a chad the normally death-prone Scar has been in the Life series. In Last Life, people ganged up on him specifically because he had so many lives and wouldn't lose them. That, and hoarding the Enchantment table.
There is a few good realizations with soulmates that I just can't help but love. Grian finding out Scar was his soulmate and trying to get him to realize that he was his soulmate after being in a genuine panic mode was great. Scar finding out by Grian showing him and the "... oh my god." that conveys how obvious it was to everyone else. Tango and Solidarity meeting up and having a chat about what happened with the cave BDoubs and Impulse just quickly making the connection and realizing they are connected Martyn accidentally causing a find and finding his soulmate at the same time.
Double life gives me 3rd life vibes. Grian and scar in a alliance, grian having to baby sit scar, impulse and bdubs together, grian and joel being in a somewhat alliance, scar talking about rendog being king, ren and bigb being paired up, mumbo and lizzy dont exists, bdubs being on a high platform with a block of water below him, scar committing arson, and ren gathering lapis to trade for enchanting.
The gut wrenching “NOOOOOOOO” from Grian… you know he’s just gonna put scar in an obsidian box with a chest full of steaks and a bed just so he can’t kill himself. I know I’d do that.
Though it may seem strange, but Scott and Cleo not accepting their mates is showing how some of relationships work. If you really want you can be happy with someone you're not meant to be with. Ex partner still hurts you (in some kind), but you don't care at all. Very interesting, maybe we'll see more references to real world. Maybe another breake up?
