I suggest: -Each tower is sold separately, along with the parking in those individual towers., Separate those parking towers with walls and badge access -Buyers are given constructive models that they must follow for upkeep, security, etc. -Being individually owned will allow viability of the whole to be more affordable. -The center 52-floor tower can be made into condo units. -Make the lower floors into supermarkets, dry cleaners, retail, 3, 4, 5-star restaurants, entertainment, -Retain a hotel -re-open the movie theater -The common areas such as elevators, escalators, walkways, and the like can be run by a management company Terry M. When your actually born and raised in the city of Detroit, MI you get happy when you see the Ren Cen on movies tv shows and commercials it’s our Statue of Liberty our Big Ben Tower our Identity you throw yo hood and start shouting yeah Detroit baby.
Mixed use with residential and commercial would be awesome. I remember there used to be beautiful atriums. When I visited after I left Detroit, I was disappointed with the car show that took over the water, plant and seating areas.
I worked for company that did all remodeling and demolition in 2003 I believe that top floor rotating restaurant we left everything in place ended up building up the floor basically hiding everything underneath. it was too much time and work to bring everything down. I was cursed working down there had my Tahoe stolen also blew my back out stocking drywall in tower 5.
So GM gets to go to the new building? The same GM who was here during Detroit’s decline and did nothing. That GM? That doesn’t seem fair to Rocket Mortgage who worked hard to bring the city back to life.
Keep the hotel, shops, restaurants etc. Everything else office space and affordable housing. Simple. But these folks are greedy Is a rather destroy it.
Dying off? Michigan's population has been steady for over twenty years. And sure, cost of living is going up for everyone, but comparatively Michigan's pretty affordable. As for the RenCen, I'll admit I'm less worried than maybe I should be? I dunno, it's still in good shape and in an ultra-desirable location, converting most of the office space to residential seems like the obvious play here, but we'll see.
I really hope they don't demolish it. Im getting real tired of everything having to be demolished these days.
Same here!

Sounds like the new Cabrini Green. Folks will be shooting each other from tower to tower.
“New permanent home at Hudson.” The rencen was supposed to be permanent
Exactly! Why not move back to their original home if anything.

Hard to see GM not at least having an idea of what will happen with it.Hate to see it demolished.
No concern for history. GM is guilty too. Sharky(Bert Reynolds) would be sad.

Worked at the Renaissance Club in the late 70s early 80s. It was a wonderful place then. Hope they can kept it.
The Rencen should be the new Silicon Valley of Detroit. Research and development center for automotive manufacturing and computer research.

It looks bit like Darth Vaders castle lol. Cure the Imperial March?

Wages/benefits are going down, cost of living going up.
