Thank you Miss Tracy for this masterful lesson. My grandfather, who worked on the railways, had an uncommon fear of curved lines. Whenever the rail crews had to lay a stretch of curved railway line, my grandfather would have to go and lie down in a ditch out of sight of the other men as they lay the curved track, otherwise he would be stricken with an acute attack of lingering lassitude and terminal twinges.
Unfortunately I inherited my grandfather's affliction with curved lines, which have played havoc with my calculating perimeters, volumes, etc, of curved shapes. Not to mention my invariable failures with ladies and people of female gender who have a punnet of curved lines. Ahem.
It seems everywhere I look, I see curved lines and curved, er, things, like watches, ear rings, and pancakes. After watching your tutorial, I now carry small shapes of squares, triangles, parallelograms and rectangles, so that if I suddenly encounter a curved sphere, I whip out my straight-lined doo-das until I feel pleasant sensations returning to my popping crease and parabolas.
My edentate grandmother, who was partial to snuff, snugs and snook, once told me that my fear of curved things was caused by my having too much doo-doo when a baby. What do you think? What's your favorite shape? Your top is massive. Did you make it yourself? It has beautiful geometric shapes. Anyway, thank you again for your inspiring tutorial. Adieu!
