This is the first time I think I left a comment, but I’ve been trying to keep up for the past two years and you have been doing an extremely awesome job and I just wanted to complement you for what you have been doing. Your dream is really coming. True I thank God for that, and being from the Chicago area I also know how hard it is to work in cold weather When that season comes around,

I bought one of these for backup power for our fridge and freezer.
Great product!! It would be advisable to add 3, 400 watt, Solar Panels to keep it charged as I did.
    Love your videos Abby!

Completely agree especially considering if the power is off for more than a day or so there’s no way to recharge the charger.

Hi Abby- This is a convenient power station in a pinch and to power tools, however, we use a Honda 2000 small generator to power our freezers and refrigerators during a power outage. We also like a power station for camping. One rule of thumb from this farm wife, is keep your freezer full. You can place water jugs 3/4 full to make up space. Very handy. Your house is also open to solar. You are headed in the right direction for ways to have back up power.

So NY allows electrical outlets to be installed below windows where rain water can enter them? It's mind blowing to see them in your home. Also, food doesn't de-thaw. It either freezes or thaws. Fridges and freezer can defrost but not de-thaw. With that said, the house looks nearly completed. Congrats on a long and challenging process. Gotta go now, it's time to de-thaw my ice chest. 👍👍👍

I realized this is just a commercial, and you probably aren't going to put this in your basement as a backup. Recharging it...in an extended power outage you would have to use a gas generator, or solar panels. Also, not an ideal situation in freezing temps, they can't be recharged below freezing. Your fridge might not really being working, 132w is not much more than the light bulb. Wait for the compressor to kick on. The stove is some version of 220v. But hey, it's free, so enjoy it!

    • @TheGspencer

brookooc has some great points, all valid. As the unit can only power a freezer for about 1 to 2 hours. I suggest that you ask the electrician for a return visit, he will be able to paint a clearer picture. One thing that you might consider is installing an outside plug so your car can supply charging current. That will keep your light on and your computer/cell phone and maybe the furnace hot water pump working. Remember that it may not work very well in the cold temperatures of the basement; that is a question for the electrician; also should it be isolated to only supplying power to a few dedicated circuits.
I primarily use my unit as an uninterruptable power supply for my computers, displays and internet.
Have you picked out a name for the new filly?

Thanks for the info. I have a small house and this might make a really good option for the reasonably brief periods we are likely to have an outage in town. A back up generator is impractical but this might work. I wonder if they can be connected in series for longer service? Also, I can't help being proud of you for your willingness to dive in and tackle the myriad tasks required to restore your old house! You don't know me but I have pretty much followed you (missed a few here and there) from the beginning. I have followed your dad and mom on his channel for some time. I appreciate the values you, Trudy, and your folks portray. Be blessed little sister (in Christ)! PS: You look thinner! All the work you've been doing no doubt. 🙂

It is a commercial. You get these products for free and you have to promote them to drive other companies to leverage your profile to move their stuff. It’s a win win ecosystem. It’s how social media works and for a single woman, any additional help she can get is worth it.

You have to think about how far you have progressed. The backup generator. I have brother who has Generac system which runs off of L.P. gas.We both live on the coast of North Carolina and we can get bad storms in summers,so when faced with losing food, etc its a worthy investment. Looking forward to you giving update of Lady's Philly tomorrow as your parents are taking a quick break to Vermont.

I also had to install massive septic tanks for sewage. You haven’t talked about this side of country living, but could you plan a drop around this topic?
