Absolutely a FANTASTIC video. I have been studying the occult for only three years, yet after watching this, I feel like I am back to day ONE !! I loved this !!!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!!! By the way, I always feel like I'm back to day one. 😂😂😂 There's so much to discover and learn... It's an endless pit of knowledge!
Awesome, thank you so much!! I just started this channel and I haven't covered nearly as much as I'd like to yet. I'm so glad you found your way here!! 🤗
I combined my occult studies with science and using the 48 laws of power as a baseline to guide it through. The universal laws of attraction are tricky, but useful to learn once their pattern is deciphered and it's rythem decoded. Good stuff by the way, love your videos - very informative!
What a great idea!! I read the 48 Laws of Power a long time ago... But I can't remember most of it now. You are inspiring me to reread it. Thank you for your kindness! 🖤🖤
I can't explain: I hoped and I felt you would have mentioned Lon Milo Duquette because I think he is a very much enlightened being...and you did! I love you! ;) I found today your channel and definitely fell in love with your character, your ways and attitude. And gosh, you're grounded as hell! There's true light in here.
I am loving your channel! I've been consuming a few witchcraft-related youtube channels for a while, and they are all so wonderful in different ways. I love how you focus on the occult and topics that aren't covered by the other channels I watch. Book recommendations...LOVE THAT ALWAYS. Love. I also really like your personality - I feel like we'd be buds. :)
Hello! So nice that I found your channel. I'm actually studying this field, right now I do my postgraduate thesis on Dion Fortune and the Esoteric Western Tradition. ✌
Here some tips about how to pronounce the name of the Shamism book author, Eliade. Go by syllable, so first comes E (like Emily), then LI (like Lee from Bruce Lee), then A (like America) then DE (like DEsert). There are some other good books from him, A History of Religious Ideas, and, last but not least, The Myth of the Eternal Return (love this one!).
The name of the author of "Shamanism, Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy" is pronounced Meer-chee-a El-ee-ah-dey (he was Romanian). He was a professor of the history of religion at the University of Chicago. I did read "Shamanism", which was a slog, but I adored his "The Sacred and the Profane" !
Great list of recommendations. Even after 12 years of being in the Occult, it are still benefits to seeing list like this. A reminder I need to reread a book to refresh my memory or to check if I can find better transportation of old texts. I love Greer's books. He did a lot of wonderful writing. I really enjoyed his "The New Encyclopedia of the Occult". I always love seeing Lon Milo Duquette books getting recommendations. His humor just makes even the hardest subjects understandable and fun. So glad I found your channel. Keep up the lovely work.
Thank you so much for your kind words!! I need to check out that "New Encyclopedia of the Occult" because it sounds like that one might even be a better recommendation. But yes, love Michael Greer and Lon Milo Duquette! ☺️🖤🖤
@@IvyTheOccultist Your mos welcome. It's great to see a kind person like you in the Occult community. I found "The New Encyclopedia of the Occult" to be great starting point on a wide range of subjects. It goes over everything thing from well known occultist from old to more modern times, Qabalah ref, ancient to modern occult orders, witchcraft and ceremonial tools, tarot, the list goes on. I also found "The Magician's Companion" by Bill Whitcomb really helpful during my learning fase, but I believe that sadly it's no longer in print. But maybe still available in ebook.
@@suzannetol I have not read the Magician's Companion. It's so sad when our favorite older books go out of print! Thank you so much for these recommendations. I will take book recommendations any day. 😆 Fabulous to meet you and thank you again for your kindness!
@@IvyTheOccultist it is a pretty sad thing books end up going out of print. I started my research activity somewhere in 2008. Books from those day and early are not easy to find. Especially if they where not released by big publishers. Other times really useful online resources and blogs have disappeared over the years, but we do have luck that we have a lot of amazing (newer and older) occult writers out there that are making up for the things lost. Glad to have meet you as well. I be watching your backlog of videos. You got a lot of wonderful videos.
Utmost appreciation for the insights! 👁️💡✨ Intertwining fasting (18 hrs daily up 3-5 days x2 monthly) distilled water, electrolytes, and taking herbal nootropics my occult studies to optimize the process, especially knowing that the Pythagoreans and Kabbalists fasted extensively. Also, studying a lot of William Walker Atkinson’s content and Mark Passio.

I'm beginning my journey and this was really helpful - it's so hard to know what books to buy in the beginning. Also love your personality! It's clear you're really passionate about this! :) just subscribed
I haven't seen someone recommend the Occult book in a long time lol. I love how you said if you could buy one book to start out and you wind up saying 3 books 😂 I like how you recommend books that you don't practice, showing your range of interest because you dont always need to incorporate things from a book you just read. From watching videos and reading I believe that there are 3 different Qabalah beliefs, there's a jewish kabbalah, an occult Qabalah and a Christian Cabalah. I do believe that those are the proper first letter spelling of the term for each Qabalah. I've never heard of Universal Shamanism. Great video.
I know right?? I said I'd recommend one book and then I end up recommending three... 😂😂😂 Oh well. And yes, there are 3 main branches: Kabbalah, Qabalah, and Cabalah! Universal Shamanism is really interesting because it focuses on the anthropological studies across many cultures, and how similar all cultures seem to be in their shamanistic practices. It's fascinating. Thanks for your kindness, once again! ☺️
This is exactly what i was looking for, thanks so much. Do you have have any book recommendations on people who were heavy into the occult such as memoirs, biographies, etc. that provides first hand accounts of their experience(s)? I'm aware of Aleister Crowley but are there others that I might be able to read about? Thanks again!
That entirely depends on what type of magick interests you! I would recommend two routes: the first being Carl Jung. If you don't know who he was, he was a psychoanalyst that was instrumental in shaping the way we see psychology today. And most people don't know he was also into the occult and magical scenes... His books on alchemy are great. And I've heard his "Red Book" is the best one, though I haven't read it yet. It's basically like his personal diary of his own experiments and experiences. (Don't quote me... I still need to read it.) But I would also recommend checking out the book called "Grimoires: A History of Magic Books" by Owen Davies. He basically gives you a chronological timeline of all the grimoires that have existed in the occult world, from as far back as we have records. Its a bit of a dry read, but you see from there what grimoires sound interesting to you. Hope that helps!
Wow u talk fast lol how do u keep ur thoughts together to talk that fast? I’ve seen the occult book. Was able to check it out from the library and love it. I’m gonna have to check out his other book.
LOL!!! I hope I wasn't talking so fast that you couldn't understand what I was trying to say 😂 I try to slow my speech down... But my brain is moving quicker than my mouth and if I don't talk fast, then all my thoughts float away and never return. Haha! It's a struggle 😆
@ivytheoccultist did you recommend a yellow covered book about symbols in the occult? I for the lofe of me cannot find it in your videos and now wondering if i made it up 😂
I could argue that chaos magick is both part of the left hand path and the right hand path, and also chaos magick is neither one. It purely depends on the practitioner. Chaos Magick is one of those paradigms that drastically differs from one magician to another. But I suppose it could be considered more of left hand path due to it's individualized nature. For example, the left hand path can be considered very much about the individual's experience, whereas the right hand path can be considered about the communal experience. Chaos Magick is very much centered around the individual's personal experience, as one of the core principles of Chaos Magick is the avoidance of any dogmatism. Also, the left hand path is very much about the concept "I am God" versus the right hand path perspective of "I am trying to commune with God above." With this reasoning, we could say that chaos magick is more left hand than right hand, because chaos magick operates from a psychological perspective where you assume the archetypal energy of a deity, rather than actually believing there is some sort of god sitting in the clouds above. I hope that makes sense? If you're interested in chaos magick, definitely check out my video that I've linked in the description box! 😊 Hopefully it will become much more clear. I do not personally identify one particular path as "good" or "bad" so my perspective on the left hand vs. right hand paths may differ from other practitioners. Nothing is 100% good nor 100% bad, it purely depends on your perspective.
@@IvyTheOccultist I understand now. I watched your video on chaos magick. I found it informative and easy to comprehend. Though it has me wondering since chaos magick doesn’t ascribe to any deities, where does the power derive from to perform the magick?
@@robndamtns that is a wonderful question to debate amongst many chaos magicians! 😆 I don't think there's any one right answer here, but my personal belief is that our power comes from our subconscious minds which are linked directly to the collective unconscious (or "source" which is the energy I believe we all derive from). Some chaos magicians might say that the power comes solely from the individual, but I believe it comes from a combination of our own power as well as the collective power we can all tap into. I guess that will be up to you to decide what you believe to be true, or not true! 😊 I'm glad the video made sense and thank you for your interest in the subject! These conversations are always fun to have.
