I'm a yes vote for saving the little girl clothes & blankets!! I saved my daughter's dresses (yep, for 25 years) and blankets and now my granddaughter wears them and it is THE BEST!!! It was a gift for my daughter and now it is a second gift for me! ♥
I saved and stored some of my children’s blankets that were in good condition. Years later when they started their own families I gave the blankets back to them for their children. The were touched as it was something special.
We moved from a tiny rented townhouse to an 1800 square foot house six months ago, and I did a super-purge then. We still have stuff in storage, and we bring things home usually once a week, and I purge most of that stuff. It feels so good! I’m a retired elementary school teacher and gave all of my school stuff away when I retired, I haven’t missed anything, so I know it was all good. I’m a dedicated sewer/crafter/cook, so I kept more of that, but I still got rid of some of that. It feels good! I love your videos!!
This is giving me motivation for my wardrobe. It is so hard to get rid of things. I heard of something that you must pick x amount of things to get rid of for the day or month,I'm not sure. Can someone tell me please. The back to front coat hanger is a great idea❤❤
I got rid of at least half my wardrobe. If I hadn’t worn it in the last year, it went to donation. If I decide to add something new, I have to get rid of something. So far, I’m ahead of donating!!
Lynette, you are so organized, I’m surprised you found anything. Thank you for reminding us that these things grow in our closets on their own and need decluttering too.❤❤❤
You did a great job. It can't be easy with 4 kids but you are fortunate to have a playroom where they have their stuff. Loved this video. When I declutter, I have to be in the mood and then I get rid of a lot. Your house looks great.
As a mom to three girls 5 years apart & 3 years apart, I had clothes that went through all three & others that they only wore. I decided to keep a few items for each girl that had special memories with them for their memory box. Things like the clothes they came home from the hospital in, a special blankie, their favorite baby toy, a favorite binkie... The box isn't huge, but big enough to hold a few momentos that I want to pass along to them when they have their own children. Do you have anything like that for your kiddos? It's never too late to put one together. My girls are 23, 18 & 15, but they still enjoy looking through them together & ask for stories about when they were little. Sweet memories for sure! Thank you for another inspiring video! God bless & Happy New Year!!!🙏🏼❤️🎉
I always do a major purge after the holidays. At 75 years old I don't want/need a lot of stuff around! Feels good to throw away and donate! You are an inspiration, Lynette! I just got up off the couch and found one more thing to purge while watching you! Now I need to load up the car and move it along!
Thanks for the inspiration Lynette. I have no excuse to do this in my one bedroom apartment. It really weighs on me. "It gets easier the more you do it". Just what I needed to hear.
Great job! Yes keeping on top of decluttering periodically really helps! Some decisison are hard like the girls blankets but since there were not many they would be nice to save for them when they have a family. Great memories in those blankets! ❤
Decluttering is never my favorite thing to do but after it is all done I feel so good and proud that I did it! Now if I could only get my husband to do it!!
Love love love this video ! Since I sold my large home in September I got rid of 80% of what I had..even the furniture !!! Getting ready to build a cottage & I said I will never own that much stuff again ! It just feels so much lighter knowing its gone. Now if I can convince my daughter to purge..oh boy !
Learned a new English word ‘decluttering’ by seeing this video :-). Did it also last week :-) We call it ‘ordenen en opruimen’ in Dutch. Greetings from The Netherlands
Just came across your channel. I too am a Christian and I’m so thankful to have found a channel where when the music plays I can hear Christian music. I love your channel and plan to stay ❤️
I always hung in to my son's favorite blankets and toys . Also a few outfits that he wore alot and were still good !! Now he has kids , so a few things he had went to the grandkids . My granddaughter also wore a couple of my dresses that my mom saved ! So glad I am not the only one that goes through things . We have a small tiny home right now, so I go through things every season. Sometimes sooner . But always every season !
Decluttering is what I am working on. I just did that with my Christmas decorations when putting them away. Starting on closets. I need to do kitchen cabinets and so forth, lol ! God bless you and yours Ms Lynette.
Ah what a great video Lynette , I love a declutter every year , and the tips were great thanks for sharing , love your little helper at the beginning of the video , greetings from England 😊
Good inspiration video. Thanks for posting. You look pretty with the bright red; it goes so nicely with your dark hair!❤ And I LOVE the gift drawer collection idea. I am going to start doing that for sure.😊
Wow - your much better at decluttering than I am. We are planning to move in the spring so we're now doing major declutter and starting to pack away what we think we can do without til then. Not having children in the house makes it much simpler.
Very motivating. I’m an older lady so I do usually one area at a time. Been working on larger drawers in kitchen, bathroom etc. feels so good to organize and get rid of things I don’t need. My walk-in closet will take time. What a mess lol.
While watching your video, I decluttered in my office and sewing room. Over 20 years ago, we moved from one state to another and had to put items in storage, a car garage unit. For a year, we'd have to travel across town to get something or put something in there then one day I decided to stop the madness, so one day we went and pulled everything out so we could get in there to see what we needed or NOT since a good year had passed. We donated MOST of everything, and had room for the few items we kept in our home, not our garage. Our child took their items to their new home. I never want to have that much storage again.
Thanks Lynette your video is posted just at the right time. I live in a small city apartment and have been thinking I need to declutter, but was in a procrastinating state of mind. Your video has given me the boost to just get the job done and start small. Dedicate a day. Declutter with bins for: donating; throw out; or gift. I have a plan of action on how to tackle. I can now start my decluttering. Thank you❤😊
Your house is my inspiration. I moved 2 months ago and got rid of over half my things. I'm about to get rid of a bunch of clothes. It feels refreshing and freeing. Take care and God Bless
Yes, it feels so good to get rid of things you have had for years and don’t use them! We just recently went through our basement and did that but we are not done yet, by a long shot but it’s a start! You gave me some good pointers though in clearing out even more stuff, thanks! God bless
Thanks for the video and all the little tips. Your house is always so organized and clean. You do a wonderful job. I so enjoy your family and have watched for years. Keep up the videos as it is difficult to find one that is appropriate for all to watch and you mange nicely. I am a 71 yo Nanny of 4 who loves to bake and cook and watch you tube. PS....tell Nick he is looking good...haha! Only teasing Lynette. That man is so smitten with you it is sometimes funny!!
so glad you are visiting South County. Englewood is a great place to be. Come on a Thursday and visit the farmers market on Dearborn St. or stop at one of the coffee shops.
I’ve been going through all our cabinets, drawers, and cupboards and closets and we have only lived here 1 yr ago this month- amazing how much we accumulate. Feels so good to declutter!
Thank you for sharing, i dont use a lot of bins or baskets but i can see how they make organizing easier and they look good, i will try this now, thank you for sharing. ❤
Always inspirational, in many ways! Your attitude is so positive. In the middle of doing this myself. Going slowly bc it overwhelms me. If I didn’t live alone, it would be pedal to the metal like I use to do when I had family under the same roof. Need to work on SELF love, besides just SHELF love! Thanks for posting.
I love to declutter my house. I haven’t done it for awhile, but getting ready to get into it and clear everything out. One room at a time. Your video has got me motivated to get started! Thanks Lynnette.
I always do a yard sale in the spring. I've started decluttering and making a "sell pile." My husband tells me we're not going to have anything left in the house at the rate I'm going 😅 You have a beautiful, organized home. Happy New Year 🎊
I was going through my junk drawer and put an extra silverware holder in it. That helps keep things a little more organized and with my batteries I got a small cheap zip up dollar store make up bag for the extra batteries! That’s my best tip.
Very motivating! I love how you encouraged us but reminded us to take it at our own pace. I’ve been procrastinating because of illness but will start small and eventually get there! Thank you, Lynette! I always love watching your videos! ❤️👑
I guess the new year is bringing a lot of us to organize and de-clutter. I love it. I've been doing it for a few days, off and on. Trying to just get rid of a lot of unneeded stuff and to use what I have instead of buying more and more. Sometimes it's so hard to let go of things but I've just been being ruthless and not questioning too much, lol
Hi Lynette, I am currently visiting your town. Went to Detwiler’s yesterday. It was so fun to see in person. My husband purchased some huge shrimp. Thanks for the decluttering advice. Can’t wait to get home to get rid of junk. Be blessed
I like how your organization is normal it’s not so perfect and that’s fine and relatable especially with kids clothing very good tips and inspiration to get to declutter 🎉
Love a good organisational video, it always feels so good when you have a “place for everything and everything in it’s place”. Helps the mind be somewhat restful.
ThankU for the video Lynette. It is motivating &yes we all have stuff that we don't have the heart to get rid off for sentimental reasons. 😆😊. Have a blessed day
When u said adapt and adjust I smile that was said to me some years ago and it helped me thru many changes. The other was if u haven’t used it in a year pass it on to someone that can and needs it. Recently to declutter my friend whose with the Lord now shared keep the memories but clear out the mementos. The more I declutter the freeer and less stressed I feel. Those baskets and bins ideas keep stuff so much more organized and amount limits. If it don’t fit bins I got I do not get or remove something not using to add something else. I found also as time moves on u get so organized that as u family grows I find it easier to obtains things u need on busy days. I so appreciate all u share u are constantly giving me fresh ideas. God bless u all in this New Year. 🥰
Doesn't hurt to keep the blankets. At least for a while. You can't get them back if you regret it later. I'm the sentimental type and there are times I've had regret. Enjoyed the video
I plan to declutter starting tomorrow and probably through February! Maybe into March. I need to go through our storage area in the basement and then through everything in my mother’s house, as she passed away and we plan to sell the house this spring. I may have to have you on repeat to stay enouraged and motivated! 😊 You did a wonderful job going through things! Even when you didn’t think you had anything to donate or trash, you found some things. Just goes to show you everything needs to be gone through and touched. Thanks for the video!
Funny, just yesterday I was thinking about purging things😉 I think it's a great relief when we just get rid of the things we hold onto...just because. Oh, to be sure, I have things that I am still grasping onto because I just love them. However, my daughter is RUTHLESS and she shows pretty much no sympathy when it comes to things. Sentimental, yes, just because, absolutely not. I am looking at a bookshelf right now that causes me ire. I just want to keep all the stuff, but, it's a wreck. I just need to get rid of things. I don't know if this is what you do, but there are several times that we pull into Goodwill, drop off our donations and pull around and park to see what we can find. We also ALWAYS have a "pile" going. Usually a box in our laundry room. As soon as we donate our comes something else that we no longer need. Thanks for the motivation! I am not the cleanest person (although I am no longer near as messy as I used to be) but I have learned (actually from a pastor's wife)to tidy right before bed, because you never know what tomorrow (morning) brings.
You look lovely in red. Thank you for the inspiration. I am currently “organizing” (aka purging) 123 years’ worth of things from the family home. It is overwhelming. God bless you and your beautiful family. A blessed New Year to all. 😉
Great job! I would get overstimulated doing all of it at once, but I function better also with less clutter lying around so I am usually getting rid of stuff. I have been doing little bits here and there since before Christimas. Just wanted to make room for what came in at Christmas and that seemed to work out well. I didn't do everything though. I have been working on it as I can, but focused more on clothes, toys and such in December. Lately I am working on cabinets and it seems my car is a never ending job that I have to maintain more frequently with 6 of us also in my family! Love the inspiration. Thanks for sharing :) Praying you all are well! ~Sarah
You would love the look and convenience of a plastic bags organizer for all size bags. I never wanted one until I received one for Christmas and I love it!!! Costco and Amazon
I’m in the middle of decluttering my whole house too. It’s hard for me because I have a back injury with nerve involvement. If I spend more than 15 minutes on anything my back hurts and burns. But 15 minutes here and there you can get a lot done!
A couple of days ago I started decluttering and organized. And I tried to do it every so often. Because you're right, it's easier.❤ Thank you for always sharing with us and coming up with some great ideas. Your friend K ATH. Y.❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you love the black and white skirt, try carefully snipping off the attached lining (leaving the seams and pockets , if lined, intact). Sometimes, "dry clean only" is an indication that one of the fabrics in the garment (usually the slippery lining) will not wash well. Try wearing a slip instead if you remove the lining material. :)
We had a closet like your boy’s closet . We cut the opening to match the closet size. It was much easier to use after the modification. New bi folding doors.
Your home is beautiful. I like your way of keeping your home. Thank you for the beautiful music you played, it was great. God bless you. Love your channel. ❤
You can always save their blankets to give to your girls when they have their own children. I did that and my kids loved the thought that I put into saving their blankets.
Army wife...never really accumulated "stuff" as we moved often...I find the simplest rule is I dont buy something , like decor wise, unless I have a perfect spot for it already...if not...what am I willing to get rid of to bring it in. I have one hutch, very very primitive with original wavy glass doors. it has the oddest assortment of things, but all things that belonged to someone we loved who is no longer with us. just chose an item that reminded us of them. I just hate dusting, and stuff needs to be dusted. clothes, our guest bedroom closet has our off season clothes, bedroom in season. we tend to get rid of items when moving it ..if we did not wear it this winter, it wont make the move back to the guest room (and yes, to others, Florida natives DO have winter clothing) Our kitchen "appliances", kitchen aid, bread maker, pressure canner, dehydrator etc etc etc...all have a home..but I so want a freeze dryer and cant figure out where we would keep it...I am blessed to have a walk in huge cedar closet in my office that holds all of our canned goods and canning equipment...thrifting is fun, I love it...but choosing what to get rid of...not so much

The red shirt is a good color for you.
You look GREAT in color/red! Harper is so cute!❤
This is a difficult job with just the two of us!
But with kids it does bring more “stuff”!
You did a great job! ♥️

So motivating, Lynette. Being retired, a little at a time works for me and is so satisfying. I have a gift drawer also and call it my stash.
Very motivating. I’m an older lady so I do usually one area at a time. Been working on larger drawers in kitchen, bathroom etc. feels so good to organize and get rid of things I don’t need. My walk-in closet will take time. What a mess lol.

You have a beautiful, organized home. Happy New Year 🎊
Love the Red Shirt on you. ❤
I was going through my junk drawer and put an extra silverware holder in it. That helps keep things a little more organized and with my batteries I got a small cheap zip up dollar store make up bag for the extra batteries! That’s my best tip.

Greetings from Germany 😊 Dear Lynette, I love your style - your house is beautiful and you are so organized 🤗
I love a good declutter video! You’ve inspired me to get busy on my pantry, it needs major help! It’s such a great feeling when you’re done! 💕💕💕💕💕

Nice! Like how you decluttered your home. I been trying to but I will. 💕
Loved your video. We need to really purge stuff from our house. I did purge my closet. If I haven't worn it last season, it went into the donate pile.
Thank you for this. I am starting to do some sorting and getting rid of stuff. I just took items to thrift store. Love storage boxes for organization.
Love your videos you are amazing wife and mother I remember back in the day when I was raising my children how I loved doing all that for them ❤️🙏👍

Thank you for all the tips -- really appreciate it.
I have not been on for a while, but I still think you are amazing. Love a organized home.
yes thank you for declutter good idea interesting.
Great job Lynn. Your home is beautiful. You make it so encouraging and do able
I’m in the middle of decluttering my whole house too. It’s hard for me because I have a back injury with nerve involvement. If I spend more than 15 minutes on anything my back hurts and burns. But 15 minutes here and there you can get a lot done!
Thank you for sharing ❤
A couple of days ago I started decluttering and organized. And I tried to do it every so often. Because you're right, it's easier.❤ Thank you for always sharing with us and coming up with some great ideas.
Your friend K ATH. Y.❤❤❤❤❤❤
If you love the black and white skirt, try carefully snipping off the attached lining (leaving the seams and pockets , if lined, intact). Sometimes, "dry clean only" is an indication that one of the fabrics in the garment (usually the slippery lining) will not wash well. Try wearing a slip instead if you remove the lining material. :)
You always give me motivation to make my surroundings nicer❤
We had a closet like your boy’s closet . We cut the opening to match the closet size. It was much easier to use after the modification. New bi folding doors.
Great video! I have been doing some decluttering too❤️😀👍
Great job!!
Your home is beautiful. I like your way of keeping your home. Thank you for the beautiful music you played, it was great. God bless you. Love your channel. ❤

Yay Sammie, can’t wait for part 2😂👍💕
Oops wrong video🙃
You can always save their blankets to give to your girls when they have their own children. I did that and my kids loved the thought that I put into saving their blankets.
I kept the blankets made by Grandma for memories.
Super cute skirt, remove the lining and use a slip instead ♥️
Good job! Red looks good on u!
Great declutter tips! I love your way of housekeeping!
I have gone through mine too. I got a lot in the basement to get out. I have been doing that and can’t wait till it’s done. Awesome video 💙💙💙💙💙💙
Did it last Saturday. It was so satisfying
Your superwoman! Thank you for sharing ❤️
I always enjoy a good decluttering video.
Thank you for sharing this with me and others it helps me out to clean out my clothes
I just hate dusting, and stuff needs to be dusted. clothes, our guest bedroom closet has our off season clothes, bedroom in season. we tend to get rid of items when moving it ..if we did not wear it this winter, it wont make the move back to the guest room (and yes, to others, Florida natives DO have winter clothing) Our kitchen "appliances", kitchen aid, bread maker, pressure canner, dehydrator etc etc etc...all have a home..but I so want a freeze dryer and cant figure out where we would keep it...I am blessed to have a walk in huge cedar closet in my office that holds all of our canned goods and canning equipment...thrifting is fun, I love it...but choosing what to get rid of...not so much
You got me inspired Lynette! Thank you. You have a beautiful home!
I keep one box each of my kids special baby items. These are things that will never be used again, but they are keepsakes.😊
Love and blessing to you Love watching.
A good start to your year!!!
