Watching this video at half speed is hilarious for two reasons: 1) The grooves he plays are still hard at half tempo. 2) He sounds super stoned in the interviews
@Vater PercussionUSA you guys to me are killing the Sugar Maple sticks, I show them off every time I play them. I regret not playing them. You guys are the best. I feel like the amount of work at the factory tops off any other company. I hope you keep them the best. You have my vote!! I use what Chris Dave is using in this video, now onto the Vater Beater!
+Shain Niemeyer true but he's been hitting with Mint Condition since the early 90s and hit that Janet Jackson Tour with them so in some drum circles folks been hip to him for almost 25 years now lol
I first saw Chris when he was featured on Mint Condition 1996 Definition of a Band cd. He played very well and I caught a show when he and Stokley went at it as part of the show on drums and it was nice! Been a fan every since. He and Robert Glasper were a perfect combo as well, but I guess he moved on from that and Mark Has the job now. But big up to Chris, keep doing you thang my dude!
We've had artists who then turn the beater in the pedal. BUT we have also started using a stronger material for the covering. It also looks a bit more vintage! haha
@VaterPercussionUSA Are Chris' signature stick fully developed yet or is it still in the prototype model ????? If so can we buy the prototype model ????
chris dave is amazing, hes great to drum too, check out his work on bilals records, his latest one airtights revenge is great, also check him out with robert glasper trio also vater is the only sticks i use, i love the los angeles wood tip 5a
Yeah, for myself, I find Sir Dave refreshing, in this air of wanna-be's and charlatans...Man, his relaxed attitude and unabashed talent on the drums is awesome, my friends. I definitely think I could listen to him playing with an act or two or on a record. Which was beginning to be difficult for myself, with all the inuendo on recordings and pomp and circumstance prevalent. Kudos, my friend.
He is a cool dude... I remember hanging around him and other drummers and they were talking about how a drummer got fired from a gig with Janet Jackson.....
Yo, that's how he is in person...cool and laid back. Not arrogant. BEAST!!!!!!
Chris Dave!!!!!!!! One of my favorite guys to watch of late.
This is the funniest interview. Chris Dave is the man!
I know him & I must say that he's definitely 1 of my favorite drummers & 1 of the most humble musicians I've been blessed 2 know.
wow...his personality is humble to be sooo talented...by far my favorite drummer
"i don't like lookin at toms right now" hahahaha
Watching this video at half speed is hilarious for two reasons: 1) The grooves he plays are still hard at half tempo. 2) He sounds super stoned in the interviews
One of the best. A very creative drummer it's all about creativity
He is the man. Completely individual. He hasn't had the same setup for 10 years, he's always evolving.
Drumming needs Chris Dave
Chris Dave is the best drummer to me in my book. I miss the Mint Condition days when he and Kerry was playin too. Lawd!!!!!!!!!
Proud to be part of the family in Italy! Vater rulez!

wicked drummer... wonderful
Thank god he chose Drums! haha
He is the man. He's always evolving, he hasn't had the same kit set up for 10 years. A snare fetish? I haven't heard that before lol.
i love his lines "i hate how i sound on toms" .. "i like cracked cymbals" .. BUT THAT'S WHY I LOVE HIS SOUND! VIBES!
It's funny how people who are just finding out about Chris are talking like he's a new dude.
He's 46. Lol
I didn't believe you then I went and looked it up. He looks 20!
Thats propbly cuz his first release was in 2003.
Shain Niemeyer as a solo project. Hes played for countless artists even before I was born. Im 24 btw.
+Shain Niemeyer true but he's been hitting with Mint Condition since the early 90s and hit that Janet Jackson Tour with them so in some drum circles folks been hip to him for almost 25 years now lol

We've had artists who then turn the beater in the pedal. BUT we have also started using a stronger material for the covering. It also looks a bit more vintage! haha
The way he approaches a set is like he’s truly..channeling a percussionist. When you listen to him (to me) it sounds like two people
Wow...I'm gonna "Favorite" this just because he's talking!
@Lassesteff It's actually Chick Corea's song, but thanks. I found out already.

@Xolin11 Paint the World - it's Robert's tune :)
I've got this beater too, and there comes a time when every side of the beater is flattened so turning it around is no use anymore...
