  • Hi and welcome to this country guitar lesson on the B-bender guitar also known as string bender.
In this video I explain a little bit what the B-bender is, how it works and a couple of simple licks to get you started with it.
In the video I mention a video where Gene Parson talks about the history and creation of the B-Bender. Here's the link: • Video
For more info regarding the B-bender (makers, songs, etc) go to my website: www.dariocortes...
In the last performance you'll hear my the B-bender going slightly out of tune... I know it, I can hear it.. unluckily that's not much I could do so please go easy on me. Some benders have that problem.. and mine is one of them! I hope you can still enjoy it...
Thanks for watching and if you like what I do check my free website and subscribe to my channels.
    Dario

I have been using a ( B ) Bender for probably 45 years…..! I have a Custom built Joe Glaser ( B ) Bender I have had for over 30 years…❤️❤️ I also have your exact guitar …! The same color too…, probably different pick ups, but nevertheless exact same” Parsons Green Frnder Bender “ …! I purchased it simply in case something were to happen to my Joe Glaser , I would not be lost on stage….😳😳😳👍🏻 For me using my ( B ) Bender becomes second nature after a while ….! You get to know where you can use it and where you can’t….! Many years ago I saw a Ray Flack video of him demonstrating a ( Hip Shot ) This was around 78 or 79….! I used a ( Hip Shot ) ,with a “Hip Pull ( B ) “ a Palm ( G ) Bender ,and a Drop Low ( E to D ) trigger …., while I was touring on the road for about five years…! I then met a good friend Johnny Alford , Who had just got a job working for Joe Glaser in Nashville…! Johnny told me before he left for Nashville that I needed to let him and Joe build me a Custom ( B ) Bender Guitar ….!!! So I agreed on my channel the Jeff Galey channel this weekend I am going to put a couple videos of my red Binder guitar….! It now looks like it has been run over by a burning tank but those are all battle scars after all the guitar is about 37 years old, or Older…!!! It still plays fantastic and sounds wonderful…! I want to compliment you on your fine video most people who get a B bender want a relatively simple introduction so they can play a couple licks this way they don’t get frustrated and just sell their guitar….! This is how I ended up with my Nashville special, Frnder Bender …! A student of mine fell in love with the ( B ) Bender sound, and found it was harder to use on stage then what he thought…!!! I kept bothering him till he sold it to me…! It had already had the pick ups Hot Rodded…! It is a great guitar but my old red Joe Glaser is sooooo, Freakin Light with its Alder Body , I end up playing it all the time…! Once again “ You Do “ , have a very good video for beginners your friend Professor Jeff Galey, ( The Jeff GALEY Channel )

Hello there - my friend has just given me his B Bender Tele in return for some help I gave him a few years back. Your video is great and has already given me lots of ideas and insights. I have been a teacher for almost 30 years (art and design) and I am happy to tell you - you are obviously a gifted player, but you are also a fantastic teacher. You have a really nice tone as a player and a person. Many thanks and best wishes from England!

What an incredible video! Had so much fun watching it and you are wonderfully informative. Beautiful playing and some cool jams, dude. I'll be watching all your stuff. I just wanted to see someone use the b bender so I'd know what it was. This video gave me that and so much more. Keep up the great work and the fine skills.

Great explanation Dario. Its the first site that actually shows the back of the guitar and the roller near the bridge. THANKS! Also, congrats on the great picking technique and licks that you played at the end. You are a Nashville picker, no matter where you are living. :)

dunno about it being a lesson, Dario, but as an exhibition of the technological marvel that is the B-bender i thought this was much better than most. well thought out, and sectioned fantastically with sign-posts and separating interludes. i like the two tunes you played at the end but, of the two, the one that floors me is the first one - the solo piece. just beautiful!
whatever this was, did i enjoy it? hell yeh!
    thank you! :)

I know this is a old post but I wish you could transcribe that last example fast country lick.. I figured most of it but when you go off towards the end it's like put the guitar down time lol But, I'm still determine to figure it out. You make it look so easy but hell no it's isn't.

What do people think about Marty S. adding the E bender and other stuff to Clarence White's original Tele? I was shocked that Marty would do this. I don't believe in putting any instrument in a glass case -if it can be played it should be; but when I saw how much Marty had done to the guitar it made me uncomfortable. Marty could have MUCH easier made a new tele to do the same thing. After all, the modern b string bender is a far better mechanical work.

To my ears he sounds German. And the reason for using a "B Bender" instead of bending with your finger is ease and fluidity of bending a whole note and avoiding excess string brushing. Plus it just sounds different, by far, trust me.
