  • Your Facebook "likes" might be revealing more than you know about your private life.
    It is possible to predict potentially private traits such as a person's sexual orientation, political leanings, religion, intelligence, emotional stability and even if they abuse drugs or alcohol, just by analyzing their Facebook likes, according to a new study out of the University of Cambridge."
    What you "like" on Facebook may say more about you than you think. What, according to a recent study, were the things "liked" that are most determinative if someone is intelligent? the unintelligent? Can sexual orientation or any other characteristics of a person really be determined by likes? Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian break it down.

    The relation of lower IQ to the people who proclaim that they love being a mom or love being a dad makes sense.
    No intelligent human being can declare that being a parent is the single best thing on earth... because smart people know that having kids have down points too, acknowledging that being a parent has both good and bad points are more honest... the people who claim to have no fault in being a parent are lairs.

    4.4% - are you saying all these people were homosexual? There's certainly a number of reasons someone would respond as such. It might be easier to say "no" if they were somehow ashamed of admitting to it. Self-reporting surveys have intrinsic error that is stated in the methods
    The real questions are, what percentage of Americans do you believe are homosexual? And what is your scholarly basis for this assertion?
    Self reporting polls have a built in acknowledgment of error; it's hardly naivete.

  • @Tessasdadd0
    @Tessasdadd0 11 лет назад

    Sorry Gary, in my first response to you, I got your response confused with rvggarcon's. I hope that's not too confusing :)
    Yes, you're absolutely right. The poll's limitations are within the questions. They didn't ask about past behavior. And it's potentially misleading if one's ability to compartmentalize sexual behavior with identifying as homosexual is a large factor. So you make good points. Still it doesn't make sense to be dismissive of the poll because it wasn't as robust as you'd like.

    read the study. very interesting stuff. the marketing complex has been building user profiles based on where on the web we visit, how long we stay there, how we interact with the site in general. look at the average social media webpage nowadays it has minimum 10 tracking cookies. I worked on pages with over 50 tracking code snippets. this are the fruits of the internet privacy act, and the patriot act. so nothing new here. welcome to the brave new world! soma anyone?

    All the IQ test measures is how good you are at taking the IQ test. I would assume there is a strong correlation between academic scores, and IQ scores, because of how IQ is measured. There is no way to quantify intelligence, unless you know what the paramaters of intelligence are. and there is good reason to be skeptical of the paramaters the IQ test sets, and of the very existence of hierarchal intelligence.

    Less intelligent people are typically more primal and simplistic in their choices, therefore your statement is correct in saying that they only use Facebook as a rudimentary tool for finding deals and updates on bands because those choices are primitive tool using behavior. I personally find lightning/thunder storms very interesting as well as nebulae and other natural occurrences. While others find them boring it's the nature of intelligence to enjoy elegant complexity. Like the curly fry.

    For status updating people that would probably be true, but for general usage such as chatting which you're almost forced to use facebook for, as it has TERMINATED some other services that might have been better but just not as populated, I'd say there are some intelligent people on there - just not active on the whole updating thingy, as it's often morons who think they have something intelligent to say.
