      Gary Miller and he’s the perfect example of the American Dream! Instead of being leftist media scum and labeling him the guy that “made $70 million during the financial crisis” they should tell the real story and write “postman’s son from the NYC projects grows up to run Wall Street”! I’m tired of the jealous socialist mentality where they see the baker (wealth creators) with a slice of pie and think it must’ve come out of their end...

    Great interview! It's difficult to be non-partisan yet he achieves it and makes an art of criticism and credit. I Like Lloyd Blankfein but he's so smart and can speak so well, extemporaneously, I am concerned that most people will never understand the valuable contributions he is capable of making towards our national welfare. Hopefully, there are people in "the swamp" who will utilize his intelligence and talent. There is so much being revealed in this interview about our current political climate and negative attitudes regarding our banking system; all of which has spiraled downward into woeful lows of personal attacks, insults and name calling and we all know who has set this tone. It panders to the lowest common demographic denominator; entrepreneurs and non-entrepreneurs. Let's raise the bar and bring back civility, manners and cordiality and address the problems.

    I love watching the currently wealthy people respond to how much they get paid now. What the public doesn't realize is 75% of wealthy families today (net-worth of $25M or more) are first generation wealthy.
    So of course Mr. Blankfein (grew up in government housing/public schools) would take offense to be questioned on how much he makes now. When you start from the bottom (or middle) and through luck/talent/hard work, you would be offended by what you have accomplished being attacked.

    CEO's need compassion and care when they lose themselves in the whirlwind of greed. Trying to place limits on corporate expansion is like trying to hide the cookie jar after the child saw mama placing fresh double chocolate chip cookies in there. Clever people will always find a way around it. There's no stopping an addict bent on getting their fix. How is the war on drugs going?
    What really needs to be done is to understand the root causes of greed. Why do ambitious young men want to increase their bank balance above all else? Why this singular focus? Making money is a unique kind of dopamine rush. It's exhilarating, thrilling, and gives a feeling of significance, something many young men feel an incredible lack of these days.
    I believe the problem is when your highest value is to keep increasing your bank balance above all else. It shows a fundamental misunderstanding of the nature of the human mind. It's like trying to fill a bottomless pit. You will never succeed. True abundance follows purity of action. True abundance follows clarity in intent, not the other way around.

  • @GbawlZ
    @GbawlZ 2 года назад

    He's clearly shrewd, but he's being facetious when he says that he is for some kind of a progressive tax that lets the lower class share in the fruits of the economic system. People will always be able to shield their money from taxes when they don't take distributions except on very rare occasions. If he really wants to effectuate a system that closes the wealth gap, he would be for a system that bans stock options-based compensation altogether and all other forms of scalable salary arrangements such as advertising income by view count. CEOs should be content with salary and nothing else, and they should be forced to take 90% or more of their annual earnings in the form of a distribution every single year. What would result is they would think twice about taking exorbitant amounts out of their companies to pay themselves. Not everybody is equal, clearly, but we should all at least be on the same hamster wheel in life.

    Maybe instead of the CEOs taking such absorbent salaries would help to have the money to pay employees a living wage. Currently a lot of companies are third partyingJobs that used to play well in their companies only pay employees $10 an hour add to third-party establishments. These jobs used to be jobs that you could hold your head up high and put clothes on your children's backs. I am a firm believer in the American dream and I do not want to discredit the hard work and effort that it took for a CEO to get to that position. But maybe if they made one and a half million dollars less and the vice president made 500,000 less,that money could pay the employees a few dollars more an hour and they would still make a great living. That's only one example.

It's also not "free" because we all have huge sales taxes to pay alongside income and payroll taxes. Every clinician working in healthcare also looks to do as little work as possible then move to the next patient because they'll get reimbursed by the Government no matter what occurs during the visit.
