Am currently in Goa on holiday and its true, its empty. Busines are suffering as very few tourist. Taxi mafia is horrible, they do charge exorbitant rates. Never coming to goa again.
Number 1, Goa needs App based Taxi for sure Number 2: Garbage problems are a big issue. Goa needs dry and wet bins installed all around, which need to be emptied from time to time. Number 3, the Power grid needs to be upgraded for more users. Number 4, Internet. There are many internet players now but too many fibre cuts. Goa needs proper trunking for cabling and not to hang a cable from pillar to post.
Goa used to be the ultimate paradise-a chill place where international tourists and hippies could let loose, enjoy the sun, and soak up the unique culture. But somewhere along the way, that magic has started to fade. Instead of quiet beaches and laid-back vibes, you’re now hit with noisy crowds, litter everywhere, and endless lines. It’s like the soul of Goa has been smothered under the weight of its own popularity. Indians, seeking a European-style holiday within India, were drawn to Goa by the allure of bikini-clad foreign tourists, which became a unique attraction for visitors from small towns and cities. International tourists, who used to feel like Goa was a hidden gem, are starting to disappear. They’re looking for peace and beauty but finding noise, traffic, and prices that don’t match what they’re getting. They come expecting a relaxed retreat and leave feeling squeezed out, like there’s no room left for the Goa they once loved. Once a haven for free-spirited hippies and later a favorite retreat for international travelers seeking a mix of sun, sea, and serene escapes, Goa has seen a marked decline in its appeal to international tourists, and much of it is self-inflicted. What was once an oasis of tranquility has turned into a densely-packed hotspot, overrun by a chaotic blend of unsustainable crowds, subpar infrastructure, and unchecked commercialization. The influx of domestic tourists, drawn by the lure of a European-style holiday on Indian soil, has brought with it economic gains but at a steep cost to the quality of the tourist experience. Domestic tourists are being treated as milching cows. For all the money spent on flights, trains, and overpriced taxis, the experience can feel like one big rip-off. Roads are too narrow, traffic is endless, and public transport is practically nonexistent. It’s as if Goa expects tourists to come with bottomless wallets but doesn’t care about giving them a good time in return. And sure, you’ll find water sports and beach activities, but they’re pricey and nowhere near the level of safety and quality you’d get in places like Thailand or Bali. The food is no bargain either, and while some foreign tourists may be happy to relax on the sand with a beer and skip meals, local visitors want to try the cuisine, buy souvenirs, and enjoy the place without feeling gouged at every turn. But with the cost of everything going up and basic facilities lagging, more and more people are wondering if Goa is even worth it. It feels like Goa is losing touch with what made it special. If something doesn’t change soon, this paradise will keep slipping away, and tourists-both foreign and local-might decide it’s just not worth the trip anymore.
Goa is a beautiful place with really nice people. Though we have to understand that other destinations actually have much better facilities and infrastructure. They are even way cheaper. A five star in Thailand can by of 5-6k. The infrastructure needs to be much better.
Goa taxi fares are toxic. Hotels too are much costlier compared to Vietnam and Thailand. I stayed 9 years on Vietnam. Its infrastructure for tourism is fabulous.
Different type. SE Asia is party, bars, girls, beach kind of place. Not Kerala. It is more of Nature, calm, relax and Temples (if you have the inclination).
Goa and MH need to be grounded and provide a good experience to travellers by not charging exorbitant prices for everything. The problem is with acceptance of fault, even in this video it's like everything is fine
The problem in South Goa, parking is a nightmare, as a tourist, you get ripped off with the Taxis etc. specially in Margao, I have been there last year myself. Secondly, having two Airports, there are not much choice for direct Flights apart from Air India &TUI which are too high for the price. If there were schedule flights like Kuwait, Emirate's or even Etihad Airways to Goa, people would have a choice to come to Goa with shorter time even in transit for choice. Someone like Tourism Minister please look into this, thanks.
I stopped going there 15 years ago. Had visited 11 times. Saw declining hygene, garbage tipping, pollution and basic cleanliness go downhill. Even back then taxi drivers were slightly aggressive but general hustle was annoying. Started getting ill too so decided to try Thailand... different ball game. Fantastic attention to tourists needs.

Came back from Goa just last night. My 3rd trip between July 2024 to January 2025 for work and leisure. I am traveling to Goa almost twice every year from last 20 years. And yes found extremely low number of tourists. Foreigners were comparatively more but nothing as compared to what it used to be. Overall there was bit of dullness.
I had predicted in 2007 that Goa would lose its charm because of drug mafia, harassment on the beaches by touts, trinket vendors, unqualified masseur, stray dogs and cattle, and boisterous music being played at high volume. To add insult to injury, even industries like taxis and hotels kept hiking their fares and tarrifs as though they were entitled to prey on the tourists who wanted to holiday in Goa. If only the tourism ministry and the Goa government paid attention to the wholesale of the tourist that was indulged in by the tourism industry, this deterioration would not have taken. To compound the misery, roads and other infrastructure is totally laking in Goa.
The loud music coming out from shacks on the Calangute-Baga belt is definitely a big nuisance for foreign tourists. They come to relax by the sea for serenity & listen to music at acceptable volumes. Presently 2 people sitting next to each other cannot even converse because of the deafening music. Is this what Goa calls tourism?
Giriraj chooses to be blinkered. I have been to Goa recently and it's terrible. Touts taxi services, high prices, pathetic roads are destroying Goa. Come back to reality Sir
I guess the main reason is not enough capacity. However I went there in July. Accomodation was 2500 Rs/ room and night minimum. Very basic standard for that money. The plywoods under the matresses often had fungi. Even if not most rooms were smelling because the rooms remained unused for weeks and months. Since most hotels are closed anyway in July one should assume low prices. One room I liked, but it was 5000 Rs per night. I offered 42.000 Rs for two weeks. They declined my offer. It was cloudy and one can't swim in the Arabian sea. The only reason for me to stay was family visit. I looked for two evenings and got irritated. I stayed a few more days with my sister in law and moved on to Karnataka. I'm a German who married in Goa. I like Goa, but for tourism I consider it too expensive for what it offers.
Paradise lost forever due to fleecing by cab & auto, food is costly & not upto mark. Frequency of buses to interiors is very less. This is my experience in Goa.
We have a chief minister and his ministers who are deadly afraid of the taxi mafia. If Manohar parrikar was alive he would have destroyed the taxi mafia and allowed Uber and Ola. Taxi mafia is killing goa tourism. I want all tourists to BOYCOTT GOA until they allow Uber and Ola. The tourist minister cannot even get the music played after 10pm, can't clean the beaches or remove the dogs and cows, can't get the roads to anjuna and vagator beaches widened.
God is more beautiful then Thailand and south east Asia but goa police not Tourism friendly and migrant local very rude , over price and poor night life , road not good and taxi mafia
The filth and garbage in Goa is unacceptable in the 21st Century, Choghm Rd is filthy, rubbish everywhere, it’s a dump, no street bins for tourists, 1 traffic light for many kilometers, no stop lights at pedestrian crossings, no public toilets for tourists, old dilapidated house’s have become dumping grounds for filth, empty plots full of rubbish, discarded building materials and a ugly site to see, contractors start beautification projects and than abandon them for 1 year, never completing a project, this is evident on Choghm Rd, cows running all over, one have to walk in fresh cow dung when shopping, hundreds of stray dogs every where, no proper pavements to walk, drain Infrastructure totally collapsed, beaches filthy, taxi prices very high, one is robbed of one’s money, no tourist buses running to major tourist spots, people drink alcohol and throw their bottles on the road in front of the alcohol shops, all these issues must be addressed with immediate effect and urgency and I hope this text message is read by the chief minister of Goa. This is the truth of current Goa, no tourists wants all these issues to face when on holiday.
Just recently i visited Goa in October from London. I have to say it has gotten very expensive compared to previous visits. Hotels, taxis and food and drink are well overpriced and the beaches are very poorly maintained. Hygiene at beach restaurants are non-existent.
I am of Indian origin living in the UK and Spain .I visited and stayed in a 5+ resort in South Goa 28yrs ago. I vowed not to go back to Goa for the reasons you are mentioning..It lacks infra, i overpriced ,dirty.full of beggars ,touts and obvious Taxi Mafia.I have changed my holiday destinations to Thailand.Singapore and Malaysia{been there 12 + } where you get much more value for money without the hassle..Its shame that you are still debating the pitfalls of Goa rather than fixing them.Playing the political blame game doesnt benefit the tourists
Another point i noted is about restaurants and bars here in Pune as well as Goa. They play very loud music in dining areas. The music is so loud that it becomes difficult to peacefully talk to each other if your family wants to have a good conversation and quality time. When we requested to lower the volume we were either ignored or told that they cant lower volume. We walked out from many such places but waiters and staff didnt bother. So in short they are ready to lose customers who want spend money but they wont reduce noise. And this too when about 60% restaurant tables were empty!!! Restaurant management must be too dumb to know difference in sound level of music between disco clubs, pubs and family restaurants.Idiots 😡😡
The issue is they don't want to adapt with changing time. No uber or ola, which can solve communication problems. No one accepts rides in goa miles. The transportation is still running in old concept where they charge hefty amount as per situation. On the other hand Asian countries have Uber/Grab with standar rates, no need of communication or language issue. Just book and travel. You need to change with time as the world changes.
RACISM TOWARDS DOMESTIC TOURISTS BY GOANS IS THE BIGGEST REASON Interesting topic : I have been visiting Goa since 18 years by now. Quite & Serene paradise. Goans always have loved Europeans , Americans , Russians & East Asian, less importance was given to domestic tourists. No offence but Goan show bit “ racism “ towards Indians I have been Kerala too my another holiday destination in India. Lovely men & women Lately I have been following news and the talk, Ofcrsr prices have gone bit high - few rules have been implemented- too much hatred towards Indians and I see every Goan finding faults in Indian ( which I 100% condemn ) fault is fault who ever does it but Goans have been burying their faults and highlighting silly domestic tourists activities STOP THAT and keep law alive I still would visit Goa in fact India but Goans be good to ur fellow tourists too and domestic travellers follow the protocol.
Major reason is that goa has its own identity....distinct from other places 😊. My own goan friends never liked other indians coming to goa. They saw themselves as different. So thats the context.
The reason why touts, trinklet sellers, taxi drivers cannot be controlled in India - they belong to the same class of the security guy or the beat cop who is supposed to manage. His friends or even his relatives are in that gang.
In simplest terms, Goa's foreign tourism will exponentially rise with the decrease in domestic tourists and migrants who bring in their own mentalities which often scare away and chase away foreign tourists. Most domestic migrants and tourists travel to Goa to chase or accost foreign tourists. Domestic tourists are often cheap tourists who often chase away foreign tourists. And complain about transportation, and other amenities what they have in their own states. Sheer and open hypocrisy. And non locals are now advising locals on how to run the state? For all these several decades when Goa had the highest GDP by foreign tourism?
Don't disscusd different issues individually. All our social issues are related severe corruption in government sector. We need to understand corruption is killing our whole society

Goa is the worst place!!! I went last month with the office mates! Worst decision ever made. Totally dirty and even worse than some African nations. The beaches are exceptionally garbage ridden no improvement or facilities. Roads are full of pot holes throughout the state! Buildings and infrastructure look like it's from 1950s!
Kerala offers much higher standards especially Kovalam beach in Trivandrum
Lol bad joke. You must be in kerala dreaming about being in goa
Kerala has no vibe. Goa is Goa. Don't compare. Problem is Vietnam, Thailand, Bali and others that have lowered visa restrictions while offering much better prices.
Kerala❌️ Migration from other States to Goa is Massive that itself tells u that there is no place like Goa in India.. Y Big celebratis don't buy houses In kerala??Y they move to Goa then ..Goa is made dirty by non goans .
@PriyaK-cu1fz you like living in garbage! Not everyone is like u. 😂
@@PriyaK-cu1fzLOLZZZZ…where were the people of GOA when swachch bharat was happening…not one person took to cleaning the dumpyards….
12:04 Goa is not a party destination. Perception about parties is making a lot of noise. Goa is not that, so it is not a party destination.
Am currently in Goa on holiday and its true, its empty. Busines are suffering as very few tourist. Taxi mafia is horrible, they do charge exorbitant rates. Never coming to goa again.
Number 1, Goa needs App based Taxi for sure
Number 2: Garbage problems are a big issue.
If something doesn’t change soon, this paradise will keep slipping away, and tourists-both foreign and local-might decide it’s just not worth the trip anymore.
sad...
Very true
NEGATIVE TOURISM happening in GOA right now
Touts and mafias are bringing a bad name to our beloved Goa.
Goa is a beautiful place with really nice people.
Though we have to understand that other destinations actually have much better facilities and infrastructure. They are even way cheaper. A five star in Thailand can by of 5-6k.
The infrastructure needs to be much better.
Why not goa hotels are so expensive with nothing to show for.
Goa taxi fares are toxic. Hotels too are much costlier compared to Vietnam and Thailand. I stayed 9 years on Vietnam. Its infrastructure for tourism is fabulous.
Good news
I had planned to visit Goa. But after reading and hearing the negative feedback, I decided to visit Kerala instead...
Very good decision on your part & visit TN also.
Go to Malaysia or Thailand for almost same ticket price
Equally worse brother, better go to a south east asian country.
I wanted to go to Goa with family but I can’t rent a car as I don’t drive and I am always hesitant because of the taxi mafia. I feel many people are in the same boat.
We should stop visiting Gao..
Yes stop visiting since it's really not worth it.
@@atticthehattrickFeel so happy when North indians say they need to stop visiting Goa.. Coz Goa has been a mess bcoz of northindians just like mumbai...
Staying away will be a great favor for peace loving locals.
@@atticthehattrickThank you so much pls do not visit Goa as it will retain back it's beauty.
Am currently in Goa on holiday and its true, its empty. Busines are suffering as very few tourist
Over tourism is opposed in many western countries ..
Main issue
Taxi mafia
Traffic police
Food is too too Expensive
Rest all the issues i can manaze
We need peace
Traffic police mafia
Expensive and harassment from taxi mafia !!
Goa has a problem with taxi mafia's, the state government has not taken any needful action. Hotel rates are so high .
The ever high danger scam in goa ..the worst place even to think of this place
Locals wants to run the places and expecting govt to clean up their mess..doesnt work one way...same goes for himachal and uttrakhand.
God is more beautiful then Thailand and south east Asia but goa police not Tourism friendly and migrant local very rude , over price and poor night life , road not good and taxi mafia
If you scam tourists, what else you can expect.. Increase of tourists by 600%?😂
Goa needs 100% decrease in unruly desi unregulated overtourism.
What the hell is the govt doing with all the tax money ?
What is global standards?
Tell me what is matching international standard in India
This has happened since Indian tourist influx has overloaded the state.
In future also foreign tourists not will visits Goa
Just recently i visited Goa in October from London. I have to say it has gotten very expensive compared to previous visits. Hotels, taxis and food and drink are well overpriced and the beaches are very poorly maintained. Hygiene at beach restaurants are non-existent.
Come to Kerala, you will enjoy it.
@jayaramprabhu5595 is definitely on my list. Thank you.
Goa was very expensive by Thailand, Vietnam, srilanka
Highly corruption in goa bottom level to top level
Our CM is becoming robber
Already was
People have become greedy , want more money to get enough alcohol.
Blame the Taxi Mafia and greedy goans for rip off prices.
Goa: No metro, no tourist buses, looting taxi men.
Taxi mafia main cause of less tourist in goa...... its good in a way .....
Even if a single tourist does not come to Goa, Goa will still remain as India's most richest & developed place.
Ticket to goa 1000rs taxis mafias 5000
Walking will save your money and keep you healthy.
Goa police harrass
Sri Lanka is attracting more tourist due to surf tourism is growing there and cheaper than goa
Govt is responsible for this
High price everything gone to curupt.
Now that it is less crowded I can go
Another point i noted is about restaurants and bars here in Pune as well as Goa.
RACISM TOWARDS DOMESTIC TOURISTS BY GOANS IS THE BIGGEST REASON
Interesting topic : I have been visiting Goa since 18 years by now. Quite & Serene paradise.
Goans always have loved Europeans , Americans , Russians & East Asian, less importance was given to domestic tourists.
No offence but Goan show bit “ racism “ towards Indians
I have been Kerala too my another holiday destination in India. Lovely men & women
Lately I have been following news and the talk, Ofcrsr prices have gone bit high - few rules have been implemented- too much hatred towards Indians and I see every Goan finding faults in Indian ( which I 100% condemn ) fault is fault who ever does it but Goans have been burying their faults and highlighting silly domestic tourists activities
STOP THAT and keep law alive
I still would visit Goa in fact India but Goans be good to ur fellow tourists too and domestic travellers follow the protocol.
Not even upto local standards
This attitude of denial is the major hindrance for current dismal conditions.
The minister from the ruling party struggles to even recognize the issues. That explains.
Don't disscusd different issues individually. All our social issues are related severe corruption in government sector. We need to understand corruption is killing our whole society
Cars with KA registration are caught by default and looted by Goan police.
Food options
Instead of spending my hard earned Taxed rupees in Shitty GOA, I rather spend them in Dubai or South East Asia 🌏
Holidaying in GOA or within India is very expensive than flying abroad.
GOA is useless place to tour
Worked kn goa for two years. Even bata chappals are sold wellmover mrp. Every thing is sold well over mrp. Logic is simple. Ye goa ka rate hai😂 Baga area
Forget of global standards..is there any standard first of all
Shacks are spoiling tge image. They lack hygiene and cleanliness. The local service providers are cheaters.
The Tourism needs a total overhaul.
Now the blame game will start open your eyes ministers before everything will be lost the taxi drivers who you are supporting so loyally because off your own selfish interest over tourism in the end the tourists local and foreigners suffer over inflated charges please open your eyes and get ola and Uber as fast as possible better roads control the crime
Foreign kya Indians bhi nahi jana chahte. Extremely bad infrastructure and too highly priced. Everything is expensive.
#Goa #TrafficPoliceMafia #TaxiMafia
Are we talking Tourism or are we talking Politics ?????
Casinos have destroyed the capital city Panjim once upon a time a beautiful city .Decent foreign tourists have stopped coming to Goa because of Govt policies which encourage low quality tourists who only cause problems for the locals due to their lack of hygiene .Smart City projects have messed up the Capital City
Wt do ull accept from Builder lobby Govt they destroyed Mountains , lakes and river also beaches and gave it to delhi builder lobby to build Apartments eg Check Bhutani Case of Sancoale only panchayat and Tcp office of govt gave permission and police are helping bhutani to do illegal things
Good Job. Sabotage? Is it?
Not only below standard but pathetic state. I am myself from there. Police , Government, Taxi mafia and Hotelliers are hand in Gloves. This was required. Once tourism graph goes down. They will come on their knees
Goans k karmo ka fal he .....costly hotel ,Taxi mafia, locals dadagiri, and thay think only foreign tourist their customers
