Early 90's, walking down the street in San Francisco, I see a white cassette tape on the sidewalk. It says "Pixies - Bossanova" on it. Of course I pick it up and play it later. It's cued up on the B-Side, and first song out is "Dig For Fire." I'm completely floored. Growin' up on punk, rap, and metal, I'd never heard something like this before. I devour the whole tape, then go on to find every single thing the Pixies ever made. To this day, still definitively my favorite band of all time. But it started with that tape, and that song.

Joey turned into this cynical grumpy old Filipino man though, LMAO. Still a genius guitarist that created so much of the texture that made Pixies a next-level band. Lighten up dude! You're a legend!

ALL of it, its my fave pixies record, but if I had to narrow down to one song it would have to be 'Is She Weird'.

He's only sounding cynical in this one video imo. Hee doesn't generally seem like that, even in other recent appearances. Pauly Shore had a good interview with him.

Bossanova is my absolute favorite Pixies record. It was amazing that they created something so joyful when things were starting the slide for them.

I remember going to your concert in Deinze (Belgium) in 1990 having no ticket. Hearing Velouria from outside gave me goosebumps. Managed to get in by the end of the gig for the encore. I've seen you since in Brussels (Forest National), Rock Werchter and New York (Webster Hall). All time favourite band. See you next year in Werchter.

I saw the band play during this period. They were great! A whole bunch a people were singing along to the chorus to "Is She Weird". It was a very exciting evening. December 1990, Bill Graham Civic in SF, the line up was: Primus, Pixies, Jane's Addiction. 😎👽

I've been a fan of the pixies since 88 all the way into they broke up followed by Frank Black solo career then my music taste change or whatever this is the first time I see him Joe speak one of the two words back then. Two best songs of that album...Rock Music.. Blown Away...
I do believe they wanted to go in a different to shake fair weather fans...But I could tell then there was something missing the harmony of playing together with this album it seen force at the time.

While Pixies might have been more in your face on the Pilgrim EP and their two first LP's, I honestly think the band grew better with time.
Charles' tunes just got better and better, and their way of sequencing an album into a homogenic piece of art evolved as well.
I think Bossanova is the second best Pixies release, only outdone by the marvellous Trompe Le Monde.

I think a lot of it depends on where you start. I started with Doolittle and worked backwards. Then when Bossanova came out it seemed to represent a change in style, as opposed to quality.

They are all Great, every song is a great song, By far my favprite Pixies Album. I cringe with irritation when I'm watching documentaries or I read an article, dismissing BossaNova.,.= I love the entire Pixie body of work, but "SHE'S MY FAVE". My favorite songs are Ana and Velouria.....and Havalina. ( I could keep going until Ive named every song)
