How to install and configure an IDP/IPS (SNORT) on Ubuntu server and ensure that when the IDS/IPS detects an intrusion, it automatically sends an email to the IT administrator?
I understand the intent of this tutorial, which is editing a hosts file for local environments, but for the love of all that is holy do not do this at scale. I've seen this before at companies, and it makes troubleshooting extremely difficult. At this point you should be using an authoritative DNS server to do this. Still, good tutorial. It's good to use in certain situations.
