this song is incredible - it captures the sound of NZ and AUS music of that era - I got this on the No Alternative CD when I was in high school - what an inspired inclusion in what was - and still is - an essential compilation of indie music.
Correct! People throw that word around too much, and the word becomes inflated. So in the case of Graeme Downes, it sounds and feels like gross understatement. But James is not exaggerating. Furthermore, the music is important art. Listen to a Verlaines album 3 times when you are in 3 different moods, and you shall see and hear, Look to the stars, and you are gone.....
@ants4rocket I've got "you're just too obscure for me" it's a great album, and it was that line from death and the maiden that really made me take notice.
The best Interpol song they never wrote. I remember how strange this song sounded when it came out, it was well before any Joy Division revival, and was drastically different in tone from the sound of the times.

I still got that one! We are showing our age here ha ha
One of my favorites from "No Alternative". Thx for posting
What people have to actually realize is... Graeme Downes is a literal genius within what he does

They’re my favorite Flying Nun band by far. I wish I could have seen the classic lineup play.
I need their records.. badly!
I had 'em ALL and they're all GONE because THINGS ARE JUST THINGS!

I now see where Arcade Fire got their sound from. Great song.

@ants4rocket I meant 'song by the band Interpol'. This song captures their sound.
Since 1981
Sorry I took so long... my audio was out again.
I've never heard of these guys. How long have they been around?
