Oh! how the Wright brothers would love to be standing in the crowd listen & Watching all these amazing ultralight machines operate during this festival!.. They'd be absolutely amazed & Mezmarized by the sights before them.
Gustav Whitehead has been announced as the First in powered Flight for his two flights taking off under its own power and flting a fair didtance . The second flight was 1.5 miles with turns in 1901. The Wrights were able to afford a lawyer in the the court battle and won. But the News paper articles about Gustaves flights 2 years earlier . Janes book of Aviation recently names Gustav Whitehead as first in powered flight with Number 21 . So there appears to be other earlier attempts.
@@charleswesley9907 thank you so much Charles for you kind an sensible comment! Don't know why the fc my original comment about being interested soo interested in ultra light aeroplanes & Mentioning the brothers, attracted such demeaning replies !!!. Bt- Hey I may as well learn what Flixzone is while I'm here, I guess !!!😏 Hmmmm! Cortana what is Flixzone !!!
If one cant install an electric starter, id like to see a short hex shaft extention so it could be started with an electric drill with a socket wrench.
@@mel_163 HummelBird. Did all his own engine work too, cutting, welding, machining, the works. He was a licensed pilot with rotor and fixed wing certs before he was a licensed driver, and an A&P before he could legally drink. Not many things in the aviation world he hadn't done. The 2nd hardest thing I ever saw him do was surrender those certs as he got too old to do it anymore. He'd been flying since he was 12 years old... he quit at 72.
Is that Morrey's special one off soaring Ultracruiser? I recognized the paint scheme and the rear fuselage looks larger in diameter. Wings look pretty long but I couldn't tell if they were longer than usual.
I hate flying but I think I could get into one of them and if I knew how to fly it quiet it just seems like more control where are the big playing you have no control over what's happening
Yessir, it is indeed. HummelBird with the 1/2 VW engine maxxes out at around 60kts, and weighs something like 300lbs. Amazing little airplane. Watched my dad build one, engine mods and all.
Jonathan Graham is that a two cylinder variant of a VW engine? About the same as a lawnmower. The V-twin. Mower engines made about 20 hp. An early folks made 40, so it's close!
People often have irrational reactions to small aircraft. There is no reason to think it is structurally unsound just because it's small. Indeed it's much easier for materials to hold together small vehicles. Building something big means skirting the limits very tightly. A very sleek design can be vastly superior to your usual knuckledragger Cessna.
these plane's engines sound
like my garden equipment,Lol.
But i dig it
Looks like a big gigantic 1/2 scale R/C low wing trainer..hehe!!!
Gotta love the Hummel.
These people have Balls of steel....

Pro trick: you can watch movies on flixzone. Me and my gf have been using it for watching all kinds of movies lately.
@Aiden Neil yea, been using Flixzone} for since december myself :)
Meanwhile over at the ultralight area, an aeroplane takes off 🤣

I'm more inerested in the Rotorway Exec helicopter sitting there!
Kids a future biker for sure. Like the sound of the motor!

Went and loved the old home made air planes. The one with the HD motor because his eye sight was bad and he kept on crashing his motorcycle.
Wonder if anyone has ever had Thier hand cut off or cut really bad starting one of those...? 😲
I thought it was a RC :-)
Que belleza hubiera querido ser ingeniero de aviación y piloto
Finally an rc plane I can get it and fly
🛩️👍🍀🇭🇺🌞👆👌
Thank you for share!Good day too!
I watched my father build one of these cute little planes.
Ay das pretty cool
Which plane did he build?

no that is Morre’s original Ultra Cruiser
@@ucflyer1 Thanks
I thought it was an Rc also..when i saw him jump in i was like what the heck!😀😂
1:00 Wow an RC Aircraft you can get into 😅
So fun!
Excellent spectacular Saludos desde Buenos Aires 😎👍👍
I have a patented version of starting engine with Rope.
Proof... you can fly in a RC plane!!!
Nope, it's wings on a misqueto.
Such a thrill to watch these guys an gals takeoff
An electric starter would add a kilo and cost around $200, battery included....
Far less than half a right hand.
Needs a CHICKEN STICK. I've had my fingers WHACKED by an R/C prop. HOLY SHIT does it hurt😫😫😫😫
Thought the damn thing was an rc
one 90 degree bend in a unmuffled exhaust pipe is all a motor needs to not burn ex valves
It’s a Hummel
ucflyer can be transliterated as lucyfer
I'm here entirely by accident, by the way. Cheers!
No joke I have Rc planes that big!! My 1/4 scale sky train dc3 is bigger☺ sweet little plane tho
Anybody know what engine he’s got in that thing??
Why dont you ask him
A half vw
Was that budwiser can or Coors lite?
Miller Light...
Love to have one
Death in a flying cigar. Ultralight = ultra death.

is he still alive ?
I s that DUCT TAPE on the canopy ??
Probably an impromptu sun shade
Yes...3M
Ottimo bellissimo complimenti
Is that engine Vw? Subaru, Lycoming?
Fisher price
Is that FAR 103 legal even with the enclosed cockpit? Impressive
I didn't think FAR 103 ruled out enclosed cockpits. As long as you're under weight and speed requirements, you're good.
If built to the plans yes

Looks like fun. Shalom
nem parece ultraleve, pensei que fosse um aeromodelo avançado 😅😂🤣👍
É muita coragem voar em um troço que quase nem aciona o motor
Now somebody has to design one that looks like an F-18 that goes at speed and that side and I'll buy it they can't afford a real one
No need so large wings.
Look at french cri-cri
Smaller and faster.
this joint looks like an accident just waiting to happen
Sounds like a Weedeater convention.
Cool wee plan
He is flipping the prop backwards.
nope. check the angle of the prop. plus it started and ran in the same direction he was flipping it.
Underpowered
All that ..to fly pattern...very short sport range...fun for a few brave ones.....🤔👎
Nice fly
Икары..., не всякая птичка в гнездо долетает!
That plane is barely big enough to carry his cahoneys!!
Title said ultralights....plural. you focused on the ultracruiser the whole time are you a Salesman for them or what
Flying with missing fingers is a real drawback. Ouch!
次
Vw powered,convair just as good.
With 2 cylinders removed.
You can put wings on a lawnmower. Check utube
Spit Fire @
I don't know you could put wings on a lawnmower
Why shouldn't that be possible?

ken cohagen yes, a cut in half VW. And they do use mower engines for ultralights, they work well.
It's a 900cc 2 cylinder BMW motorcycle engine, makes 65 hp and is good for 200,000 miles before overhaul.
Grossly under-powered for it's weight.

'll
You could ride on that...!
That is not 103..... That is a death trap...
So is the car or vehicle you drive in. Troll
